  1. The head of security is a former US Marshall . There are at least 6-7 uniformed DPD officers in and around the sanctuary and any number of licensed carriers and plain clothed sitting in the sanctuary. Earlier this year, we hosted UMC missionaries from Tanzania. I picked then up from the hotel, brought them to church and to the reception area. When they saw the uniformed police officers patrolling the area, one man leaned over to me and with a concerned look on his face asked, “are we in danger?” I resisted the temptation to say, hell yeah. You’re in America.
  2. We have him on video. Problem is he may not be the one attending service on this or any other Sunday. We’re used to dealing with threats and crank callers. This latest event makes it more real.
  3. I attended a men’s meeting at church this morning during which a staff member gave a report on the active shooter training held at the church earlier in the week. At the training, one of the pastors noticed an unknown person sitting in the back of the sanctuary, underneath the balcony in what was believed to be an attempt not to draw attention to himself. When the executive pastor approached him and asked if she could be of assistance, he said he was there just to observe what was going on. She alerted on site security who observed the man taking pictures of entry/exit points in two of the main hallways leading to the sanctuary. Security followed him as he hurried to the parking lot, jumped into his car and “sped” off. Senator Warnock is scheduled to preach the Men’s Day observance a week from Sunday. We’re not sure what to make of this, but I’m certain there will be security to back up the senator’s detail. I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t somewhat concerned.
  4. Those Gateway churches are little more than MAGA indoctrination camps.
  5. Nope. Buckee’s has an in with the Sec since it is aggy owned.
  6. I see both traditions with magestria and belief in the priesthood of the believer as problematic.
  7. Tell me again why Texas should ever have been removed from preclearance oversight?
  8. I think these people are jealous of the attention real victims of bias command, so they’ve created their own insane narrative.
  9. He’s either under some serious conviction to come clean, or he’s trying to get ahead of a breaking story in order to control the narrative. His church is known for publicly sin shaming recalcitrant congregants who can’t follow church imposed correction and discipline. The irony is thick here.
  10. Now it’s Tony Evan’s’ time in the barrel. He’s stepping “away”because of “sin.” https://www.wfaa.com/article/news/local/dallas-county/oak-cliff-bible-fellowship-church-senior-pastor-tony-evans-stepping-away/287-2a83f54a-870c-4df3-acda-045cfd2c54e1 DALLAS — Tony Evans, who has served as the senior pastor of Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship Church for nearly 50 years, announced at services on Sunday he would be stepping away from his duties. In a statement, the church said this decision was made after multiple meetings between Evans and the church elders. The elder board is obligated to govern the church in accordance with the scriptures," the statement reads. "Dr. Evans and the elders agree that when any elder or pastor falls short of the high standards of scripture, the elders are responsible for providing accountability and maintaining integrity in the church." In a written statement to the church, Evans said the foundation of the church has been its commitment to the word of God as the absolute supreme standard of truth to which they are to conform their lives. "When we fall short of that standard due to sin, we are required to repent and restore our relationship with God," Evans wrote. "A number of years ago, I fell short of that standard." Evans said that, while he hadn't committed any crime, he hadn't used righteous judgment in his actions. Evans added that Pastor Bobby Gibson and church leadership would keep its members informed on how things will continue moving forward. "I have never loved you more than I love you right now, and I’m trusting God to walk me through this valley," Evans concluded. "Thank you for your love, prayers, support, and forgiveness as I continue my spiritual healing journey."
  11. Right-wing media reckoning: https://www.yahoo.com/news/wing-media-reckoning-outlets-pay-130040167.html Right-wing media that became purveyors of misinformation and amplified false claims as Donald Trump undermined the results of the 2020 election are finding themselves on the losing end of legal challenges — or facing new ones. In just a few months, a handful of high-profile fringe media operations have been hit with courtroom losses. The Gateway Pundit, an influential far-right news site, filed for bankruptcy in April in the wake of defamation lawsuits that said the company suggested election workers committed fraud during the previous presidential election. That same month, voting machine company Smartmatic reached a confidential settlement in its defamation suit against One America News Network, which allowed false election fraud claims on air, while its pending defamation litigation based on similar vote-rigging allegations continues against Newsmax as well as Fox News, which is being sued for $2.7 billion. Both Newsmax and Fox News deny Smartmatic’s allegations. Fox News last year paid another company, Dominion Voting Systems, $787.5 million to settle a defamation lawsuit. The network did not admit to any specific claims. In May, “2000 Mules,” a book and film by right-wing political commentator Dinesh D’Souza, was pulled by the publisher, Salem Media Group, and the company issued a public apology to a Georgia man who is suing the author and publisher on defamation claims after he was accused of ballot stuffing. That case is still ongoing. Other conservative media outlets that had promoted right-wing misinformation in the 2020 election are facing financial troubles unrelated to those events. This week, conspiracy theorist and Infowars host Alex Jones agreed to sell off his assets to satisfy $1.5 billion in defamation judgmentsrelated to the 2012 Sandy Hook Elementary School massacre. Jones earlier warned his company could shut down.
  12. Trump doesn’t put gas in a car. What does he care? Im still amazed he thinks it’s okay to publicly admit crazy shit like this.
  13. What makes his fate so satisfying is he brought all of this upon himself. All of it.
  14. Thirty years ago, this guy would have been able to walk right into the job he thinks he’s entitled to, because there would not have been much competition from non dominant culture candidates with corporate Intel experience and Masters degrees
  15. This is a fascinating read: I risked my life serving my country in Iraq... but now I've lost my job at a bank because I'm a white man https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-13497647/Iraq-veteran-Ally-bank-job-white-supremacy-diversity-North-Carolina.html
