  1. Really enjoyed it. The series wasn’t perfect by any means but shit… the last two episodes slammed and went hard. I liked how they ended Reva’s story. I had a feeling they were going to have Owen kill her… I liked this choice better. The only real bug-a-boo for me was the Leia/Obi-wan relationship got too deep to explain away how she reacts to him in ANH by “well she was only 10.” But overall, I found the series to be an enjoyable watch. I’d give it about a 6.5/10 overall…. Definitely way better than non-Mando Boba episodes, but also not nearly as good as Mando.
  2. Should be a quality flick. Plus: Boobs! (And more!) I recall several years ago there was an HBO movie called “Norma Jean and Marylin” about her…. Ashley Judd played her as “Norma Jean” and Mira Sorvino played her as Marylin. It was quite good, but no boobs.
  3. It’s June 18 and we’re still in first…. 3rd best run differential in the NL…. Hopes…rising?
  4. Holy shit yeah I just saw the pic. Dude is a few years away from literally looking exactly like his Dad did on the show.
  5. Disagree. His initial plan was for them to “take him together.” He knew neither of them were a match for Vader 1v1. He even told her that she couldn’t handle him, but she steadfastly refused. So at that point he didn’t have much of a choice. His focus was to save the civilians and Leia. If Reva was bound and determined to take on Vader by herself there wasn’t much he could do to stop her, so he may as well use the opportunity to accomplish his primary goal.
  6. Because the subtext of the whole episode was how Anakin/Vader was overly aggressive and sloppy when he’s going for the “W.” That was the whole point of showing the training duel flashback. In Vader’s mind, there was no way they would escape because HE’S Vader. He was going to go down there and pull that fucking spaceship out of the sky and fuck them up. But, wait, he didn’t consider they may use another ship as bait and then escape because he was so singularly focused on fucking shit up. They have inconsistent force powers across every version of Star Wars. Moose outside should’ve told ‘ya. But if you want and explanation from canon, Vader is absolutely at his most powerful and badass in the years in between ROTS and ANH… he’s in his prime physically (as it were) and he’s fucking pissed…100% all Dark Side power. Once he learns of Luke prior to ESB, the inner conflict in him boils up and he starts to be not such an asshole. You actually see this in ESB when Piett is the first Imperial Officer who “fails him” who he DOESN’T kill after his initial confrontation with Luke.
  7. 100% this. For the most part, the Inquisitors aren’t doing anything that’s much of a challenge. At the point they are looking for Jedi, any really talented/badass Jedi are either already dead or well hidden. They are hunting/finding force-sensitive kids or otherwise young/not fully trained Jedi that managed to escape the purge. And yeah in the Vader comics and such, he’s pretty shitty to the Inquisitors. He doesn’t think much of them and basically treats them like necessary attack dogs and abuses them at ever turn. There’s probably something to your speculation, but I also saw where the final episode is supposed to be like 1.5 hours so there’s A LOT that can go down… Can’t wait to see how they tie it all together.
  8. Ha yeah. One of the classic, “why didn’t they just…” was when the Rebels attack the Death Star they send out like 15 TIE Fighters to take on the handful of X-Wings and Y-Wings. We literally have more fighters than that on a Nimitz-class aircraft carrier. Why not just send out like 100 TIE Fighters and completely overwhelm the dozen or so Rebel ships then destroy Yavin IV? Batta-bing, batta-boom. Done and done. Oh right, because we are telling a classic story here and they sacrifice “realism” for story.
  9. 100% this. It was also very consistent with how their relationship played out over The Clone Wars… Anakin always wanting to just charge in and fuck shit up while Obi-Wan was busy playing 4D chess.
  10. Yes for sure on the latter part. I just finished the episode. She sent him in with only the two Troopers knowing he would escape. I thought this episode was fantastic. The best of the series by far.
  11. There’s no season 2 of this. It’s a limited series. I haven’t watched this week yet - going to avoid the thread until then. Looking forward to it.
  12. Sure, but the Luke in Mandalorian thing was really just the cherry on top. That series was already excellent even without Luke. Him showing up just took it to the next level. The Boba series was pretty meh except for the Mando episodes.
  13. While the story is definitely improvised along the way, where in Star Wars did anyone say the Jedi were a “myth?” The only thing close to that is Han not necessarily believing in The Force. He never says that the Jedi are/were a myth… just their ability to “use the Force.” Tarkin mentions to Vader “the Jedi are extinct” which certainly acknowledges that they were a thing. And the Rebel alliance leaders actually say, “May the Force be with you” which certainly acknowledges that the Jedi were/are a real thing. And yeah there were hundreds of Jedi, but there were likely hundreds of billions (maybe trillions) of beings across a vast galaxy. The vast, vast, vast majority of “regular people” never saw or interacted with Jedi, even when they were at their peak.
  14. Fuck yeah. I picked up a 1987 pressing of The Joshua Tree at a record store a few years ago. Love putting in on and cranking it to 11 for this track. Soooo good.
  15. This is honestly the part about all of this that pisses me off the most. There are tons of schools that get automatic seats at the “big table” just because they were lucky enough to be geographically located in one of the two conferences that happened to end up being the bellcows. Never mind that they are historically and currently shitty. If we really are going to Prestige Worldwide, why not just grab the 40-50 best programs, regardless of geography or historical affiliation with a given conference? And then, yeah, introduce relegation and you’ll have the best 50 programs that are committed to wining at football in the top division.
  16. Gotcha. I *want* it to be true… so hopefully it is. And still best wishes for a full recovery for the stupid douche.
  17. I love that story, but I thought it was proven fake or something? Toby Keith sucks, but cancer sucks way more. Hope he kicks it and gets back to making his shitty music.
  18. Meh. I don’t think there will be a dominant team… certainly not in the way that OU has dominated the league. I’d say that a “tier” system will likely emerge based on recent success, fan support, proximity to recruits, facilities/infrastructure, etc. Based on those factors, OSU and Baylor are the likely at the top of the league from the get go. BYU, Tech, TCU, WVU, K-State, and Iowa State all have potential to be great but other factors that could hold them back. Then of course there’s Kansas, lol. Houston and Cincy are TBD IMO. They both have certain pluses and minues but I think they may find, like TCU did, that it takes a few years getting your feet under yourself jumping from G5 to P5. It’s one thing to gear up for 1 or 2 games a year and then cruise through the rest of your league… and it’s not like the new Big 12 has tons of bluebloods, but stringing together 4-5 games in a row against, say, OSU, Baylor, K-State, TCU and WVU is something different than playing Temple, Tulane, East Carolina, Tulsa and Navy.
  19. Interesting. Another connection in episode 1 is the Alderran/Tatooine settings mirrors Naboo/Tatooine; another connection in episode 2 besides the clone is an action sequence among/around rooftops/tall buildings in a big city and also dealing with “underworld” elements in those cities.
  20. Yeah I’m with you. The show has flaws, but I’m still enjoying the hell out of it.
  21. Correct. Only Obi-wan and Yoda know that Darth Vader = Anakin. And since Obi-wan presumed that Anakin/Vader was dead after his duel with Obi-wan, nobody else would be able to make that connection other than Palpatine or anyone else Anakin/Vader told. (Which is why it will be interesting to find out how Reva knows… because in the other Darth Vader canon stuff, he gets fucking pissed if anyone even *brings up* Anakin Skywalker, let alone someone else besides Palp knowing who he was before he was Vader.) As for the kids, part of the deal is that Anakin/Vader thinks Padme died before she gave birth, so although it was done for obvious “shoehorn” reasons, it would actually kind of make sense to hide her in plain sight as the adopted daughter of a prominent Senator and then hide the other kid on a backwater planet that nobody cares about; especially when Palpatine/Vader doesn’t even know the Skywalker kids exist.
