  1. yeah, i'm gonna have to go ahead and tell you to fuck yourself. you've spent a large part of the last year trying to minimize the covid 19 pandemic and @PenelopeWitherspoon isn't fucking from new york, she just lives there now. i used to give her shit for other reasons, but realized that it was my problem i was dealing with, and less to do with her. i just got my new passport, and i have no fucking idea when i can use it. i love london and paris. i love hong kong and tokyo. i have friends in all these places. people like you, minimizing this shit, are the reason we can't fucking go see these people. i'm going to say that you are a massive fucking asshole who has no idea how people live. you're stuck in fucking minnesota, thinking that stateside travel is a normal thing, whereas tons of us who travel internationally are sick of bullshit like yours, where you try to minimize the virus's impact on people's way of life.

  2. We need to get covid cases down just to free up hospital beds. Shit, last night a buddy and I got drunk at his 50th birthday party, rented some of those fucking scooters you see all over the place, and had a wreck and ended up a bit fucked up (doctor said something about his brain is bleeding), with a nurse screaming at us that we were taking up two beds that could have been used for covid patients. And it took forever to get our cups of jello.

  3. Just an update. I think I'm starting to get a little bit of smell back. Taste is still not really there. I'm one week in from the first day I started to feel symptoms. Still a bit of headache and sinus pressure. A tiny cough, but that was never bad. Feels like I'm coming out of it and hoping to be back to normal by Sunday or Monday. Still have to quarantine for another week. Glad I am vaccinated because I can imagine it being WAY worse.

  4. My boy Bruno the day I got him at the shelter in 2012. He never rallied the last two days. Vet called me an hour ago and said he had a stroke and stopped breathing. Then he started breathing again to their surprise, so they vented him. I drove there and got to see him. He opened his eyes when he heard my voice, and I helped my boy find peace. Good boy Bruno, good boy!

  5. I don't post while I'm at work very often, but seeing the state of things tonight... Stay at home! Keep yourself and your loved ones safe! Don't do stupid things that can land you in the hospital right now. There are no fucking beds and no fucking nurses to take care of you. I'm about to double admit two middle-aged man who thought it would be a real lark to get on those fucking scooters after drinking a lot. Now their brains are bleeding and they're going to unnecessarily take up two of our last beds so we can keep an eye on their dumb asses for a day or two. Don't be dumb. And get vaxxed if you haven't already ffs

  7. Its almost as if kids are fucking stupid and will believe anything anyone tells them. Texas has a bad record the past 10 years! In the past 10 years Texas has gone 74-52 while Aggy has gone 84-43 besides their magical season of losing to Alabama their best record was 9 years ago at 11-2 with a Heisman trophy winner and then followed it up with 8 years of averaging 8.25 wins. They've won 3 bowl games in a row we've won 4. We won 10 games 3 years ago they won 10 games 9 years ago. We do nothing with highly ranked players they do nothing with highly ranked players. They had 4 players drafter we had 5 players drafted. Aggy has sucked just as much as we have yet no one cares because no one cares about Aggy and all their recruiting pitch amounts to is come play in the SEC.

  8. I will take a shot at this. The guardrails of truth have been destroyed. In the old days, people were just as stupid as they are today. You could get them to do anything. The difference was being decent and honorable were still values embraced by both political parties. Helping Europe and fighting polio were both decent and honorable things, and the getting the media to “tow the company line” in regards to the general public good was easier to do. In 1949, the FCC implemented the Fairness Doctrine which states licensees must not use their stations “for the private interest, whims or caprices [of licensees], but in a manner which will serve the community generally”. This kept the holders of information in check. They were legally not allowed to say lies or not report on things, like in 1969 when the FCC revoked Lamar Broadcasting's license due to the station's segregationist politics and ongoing censorship of NBC network news coverage of the U.S. civil rights movement. In 1987, under Reagan, the FCC abolished the fairness doctrine. In 1988, Rush Limbaugh was signed to a contract and began drowning the airwaves with conspiracy theories, racism, and hate. In the 90s, Fox News came about and pushes more respectable conservative narratives at first. But the majority of people didn’t watch Fox News or listen to Rush. John Q Dumbfuck watched football and nascar. The Facebook and Twitter came around in 2006, and the entire world jumped on by 2012. There were no standards of truth. You could share anything. Even Fox was still pretending to be legitimate news then. Now John Q Dumnbfuck, with Facebook and Twitter, had access to information, and access to disinformation. Rush and Alex Jones of the world could spread their message unfettered. But it was mostly fringe, or so we thought until Trump lit the match. He made it okay to be racist. To be misogynistic. To hate immigrants. The President of the United States made it okay to be a vile piece of shit. And all the vile pieces of shit, the racists, misogynists, rapists, conspiracy nutjobs, all came out and let their freak flag fly. Fox News also embraced it, stopped pretending to be news, and pumped out the crazy racism and hate rhetoric. and the rest of us are just shocked and depressed our countryman are this horrible. We knew it was out there, but we naively believed most people were good and decent, it was only the fringe, and that there were lines that would not be crossed in America. That line and our reality were broken.

  9. I’m just exhausted at this point. Like I can’t believe this country banded together for WW2. Young men begging to sign up, the people at home doing what they needed to do. I can’t believe we got pretty much everyone onboard with the polio vaccine. I can’t believe how United we were after 9/11(until W did W things). These were our grandparents and great grandparents and @Armybrat coming together for the greater good. Now half the fucking country loves the dumbest mother fucker alive, refuses to wear masks or get vaccinated and openly mock a serious fucking pandemic. How the fuck did we get to this point!?!?

  10. I don't understand why any of this stuff matters. Jimbo Fisher has a better track record as a head coach than Sarkisian, both at Florida State and A&M, versus Washington and USC. Saban, Swinney, Mack Brown, Orgeron, and Jimbo Fisher are part of an elite group of active head coaches who have actually won a national championship. Anything Sarkisian did as an assistant at Alabama can easily be credited to Saban instead. But in the end people make these types of decisions emotionally, then rationalize them afterwards. That's not just true for 18 year old kids, although them especially. That's simply sales 101 for anyone. The fact remains Sarkisian is not a witch as a recruiter, at least not at this stage of his career. That's okay. Nick Saban wasn't making everyone googly eyed at Michigan State, either, and it took a bit for him to take off at LSU. Part of how he succeeded at Alabama was getting ahead of the curve regarding paying kids and handlers for unofficial visits, using that as leverage to get an offer, sending out offers like it was coming from the Zimbabwe currency printing presses, and then ruthlessly dropping offers right before signing day to make the numbers. I see people complaining about A&M paying for unofficial visits. Get a grip. That's been going on for 10 years now in various ways. The only thing that's changing is the amount of money paid. Was anyone paying attention at how many cross country unofficial visits Texas was getting under Herman? He made it part of the sales pitch that he wasn't carpet bombing offers, but still. Don't be naive. Strong's early classes were in part because he was a good recruiter, and at least in part because of race. Herman's early classes were in part because in some ways Texas took the gloves off, particularly concerning working with handlers and compensating people for unofficial visits. Also both of them had recent track records as head coaches that they could sell. Nothing against Sarkisian or the hire, but that's part of the risk of hiring an assistant. It makes the NIL bit even more important. Texas at least has to be playing on a level playing field when it comes to student athlete compensation. When kids come on visits, they have to be told by players on the team that they're being taken care of. Frankly, that's even more important than anything done before they get to campus. When OU was cheating their butts off under Switzer, that was a huge part of the sales pitch. The players would explain to recruits how the system worked. They would go around to various alums after a game and get huge wads of cash. The bigger the player, the bigger the payout, but they all got something. Think about it this way. You have a special set of skills that's highly valued. You have interviews at three different companies. They all offer you to come in for a 3 day visit, tour their facilities, go out for dinner and drinks with employees, even have someone chaperone you a bit. One business offers you a big payout to take the job, one business talks about the city they're in and the great resume builder it will be to work there. The third business the employees talk about how amazing it is to work there, and how well they're taken care of by the company and the different shareholders, often on an individual basis. All other things being equal, which job are you likely to take? Never mind that one of the companies hasn't had anything other than mediocre profits for the last 10 years. They have a new CEO, and he was the chief vice president of the number one company in the country! That's where the sense of urgency has to come from. The better the players already on the team are taken care of, the more robust the sales pitch. The longer it takes for anything to transpire, or if whatever comes about is chicken feed or only for the star players while other programs are doing a better job of taking care of everyone, the more that's going to be seen in recruiting. Remember, the final nail in Herman's recruiting came when he lost the locker room. Not everyone, as could be seen by the effort given at the end of the season in the games. But there were plenty of recalcitrant voices. People are a lot more responsive to an asshole when he delivers all the time. Anyway, I've somewhat written off this class as the one that returns Texas to elite status. It will be a good class, because Texas. And there's still time to get a few more difference makers. Plus studs can be developed or the staff can find diamonds in the rough. But it's not going to be a top 5 class, and in the end that's where Texas needs to be year in and year out to give them the best chance at winning multiple national championships. Hence the depression, which I get. But the sense of urgency regarding NIL is real. And frankly, whining about kids getting paid to make visits to A&M is not helpful. Those days are gone. There's no enforcement agency any more. The NCAA is handing that responsibility to the conferences (hahahahahahahahaha!). So unless you think the IRS is going to step in to make sure those are declared wages (they're not and they're not), then Texas either needs to be doing the same or they need to stay in the Big 12 or a similar dead end of a conference.

  11. Maybe this is a moment of weakness because we buried our pet today along with getting the news that my father has cancer while he is in a shitty hospital for blood clots in his lungs. But I saw it as a man who is contrite. Who realized very late that he listened to the wrong people. Instead of silently coming to this realization, he decided to reach out with belabored effort to hope and plead that people take care of themselves and their families. Hoping that his regional accent will help with his bonafides and hope that someone, anyone will listen. This man put it out there. He won’t walk it back. My brother nearly died from Covid. He denied it, acted like an ass, tried to shout down people and used all the Russian right wing talking points in the process. He would strut through the front of a restaurant and say “no thanks” when they asked him to mask up. He was proud of this behavior. His daughter, former SIL, grandson all got it. His wife and other daughters got it. His SIL family were racked by it. He nearly died. He was momentarily contrite. He even admitted it wasn’t a joke, it was rough and he was fucked up. Afterwards, he started walking it back. He continues to prescribe cures, tell everyone about it and tell me, how it doesn’t harm children. He was irritated when I declined to allow his previously infected and non vaccinated kids to visit. My kids are not of age, his are. They consider themselves good people cause they vote R, got to church sometimes and post right wing hate/lies on the Internet. They think this makes them good citizens. It does not. That is my brother, I love him, and I hate him. This man, is what I wish my brother could be. Willing to broadcast his fuck-up and try to help others. So to him, I have a heart. To the Republican fuckhead that died, I only feel for the cute kid. Watching my son (9) silently helping me dig a grave and my daughters wails (7) broke me today. Even if the 4 yr old stepping on the body in the grave so he could try to help me bury the critter garnered a little chuckle.

Surfing conspiracy websites and talking with your moron friends does not constitute research. These people need to be taken out back and given the Old Yeller treatment.

  15. My 10 month old daughter went in for a follow up from her surgery 1 month ago on Monday. Doctor decided he wanted to do a balloon dilation of her esophagus today, so we had to do a rapid test at the hospital on Monday to make sure she didn't have Covid. Got a call 3PM on Tues that she tested positive. She, nor mom and I, haven't been around anyone or know anyone who has it. I was pissed. Called her PCP, went in and got another rapid and a PCR test done. Both were negative. Mom and I both negative (we got it last fall when she was 2 weeks old and in the NICU). She got her dilation done this morning. Poor girl has been under anesthesia 6 times in 10 months, #7 will be next friday, and she's had at least 15 Covid tests. Can't catch a break.

  17. Just got out of another emergency task force meeting. According to our ID docs, they are seeing a prevalence of sinus/runny nose symptoms with the Delta variant. Much more than with OG Covid. So, be aware of that as we battle this mess. Also, that’s the first time in 18 months one of those meetings had, what felt like, simmering rage underneath everything. Also the first time we’ve had to include our PEDS. Whew. Those normally obnoxiously cheery MFers are BIG MAD.

  20. You guys know that OU is not having any issues with the SEC 2025/2022 conversations, right? They have increased their momentum (esp with the 2023 class in Texas) with the move to the SEC. Stop trying to find excuses and boogeyman, Occam's razor is your guide, this staff is simply not getting the job done.

  29. Man, I really have to give y’all credit for fighting the good fight. I have checked out. Just fatigue from the stupidity has taken it out of me. That and fatigue from trying to find a job for over a year (finally landed something). I just don’t have the energy to read all the crazy stories of people who don’t believe in science. It’s exhausting dealing with these folks.

  30. I thought Sark was a great hire and he certainly still may be. I'm very bullish. However, my expectations were that he was going to bring all the Bama recruiting platitudes here and we would be off and running. And first few months we landed Owens, stewart, Winfield, Blue and a few others. Now some of them did it for attention and follows but still I was excited. We can't really compare Sark to Charlie or Tom. They both could pitch the "new beginnings and fresh start" stuff. Sark is replacement 3, how do you think that message resonates. Sark needs to win, put players in the pros and we need to get better at the NIL/bag stuff. It's doable, but it won't be easy. I'll reiterate, most of the posters here are either in sales or law. How hard is it to build a business case against Sark/Texas. Pretty easy if you're ou, Bama, tOSU and even aggy.

I’ve fucking done everything right, and now because of the, “But my Freedom,” idiots, the one thing I’ve looked forward to since March 2020 is potentially going to be taken from me. Meanwhile, these assholes got fucking stimulus checks paid with my tax dollars. Fuck them all. And don’t yell at me because you have kids. You chose that for yourself. Deal with it.
