Let me say this for the slow people in the back: 1. the police have given you ample warning to leave, without suffering consequences for your previous actions. When you failed to leave, they gave you direct instructions on how to be peaceful detained and released with a minimum of inconvenience. When you failed to do that, they gave you one last chance to walk away. 2. You didn’t. 3. Now they are beating the shit out of you and taking your stuff with little recourse. This is exactly what black people in America have experienced for hundreds of years. Except they start at #3. The amount of slack white people get then moan about suffering the consequences of their entirely preventable actions is honestly exhausting.25 points

Just like Trump and Republicans who even supported his violent attempt to establish himself as a dictator and murder members of Congress and his own VP. Trump did Almost every single thing Trump did as president was to enrich himself and his corporate cronies. He never had the good of the country in mind. Trump called in police to violently abuse and remove peaceful protestors just so he could walk to a church and take a photo opp with an upside down bible. America was already faced with every one of them and Trump chose authoritarianism and greed every single time. Yet the people who are outraged here about Canada cheered Trump every step of the way. GTFO with your faux outrage. It's pure tribalism and nothing more and nobody outside your cult gives a fuck about your feelings anymore.17 points

We've given up 1 more run each consecutive game this season. In a couple months at this rate we'll be giving up 40 runs a game and that's concerning!13 points

Also, while we are discoursing, I want to pause and mention how disgusting it is that Russia is herding thousands of Donbas civilians into tents as part of a propaganda effort to create a “Ukrainian invasion threat” that in no way exists. It really is an absolutely criminal exploitation of non-combatants. Even if by some miracle the kinetic part of this gets waved off, if you’re a person who was rolling your eyes at Western warnings of false flags and provocations— you can have a fucking seat. It’s all almost exactly as warned and it’s absolutely trash behavior. Another reason not to buy the “they’re both the same.”11 points

Here is a translation of the intro dialogue for those that don’t speak jive: Dude 1 - “Good afternoon. There is a older gentleman who has declared a disagreement with one of your previous or current actions” QDF- “ interesting. I was not aware that my actions had instilled such negative emotions in my colleague. I ponder what I did to offend” Dude 2- “ Yes. It is interesting how our actions are often misconstrued by others, even when our intentions are pure.” QDF- “ I am in agreement. Do you believe this gentleman will seek retribution for this perceived slight?” Dude 1- “I do believe that his honor has been questioned and he may wish an apology.” QDF- “ I am perplexed for in the past this gentleman and I have shared a positive relationship. He has expressed appreciation specifically for my musical creations and the joyous times that we have experienced. I am disappointed that he will misinterpret my intensions and seek resolution when I sought no ill will.” Dude 1- “ Your position is understandable yet the gentleman unfortunately still feels slighting. QDF- “Please express my sincere apologies and arrange a prompt meeting so we can resolve this most unfortunate disagreement in a civilized fashion”10 points

I picked up some short ribs at HEB and thought I'd try a braised short rib version of the filipino style chicken adobo I made recently. Browned the short ribs in a dutch oven, then poured off the excess oil and sauteed shallots and mushrooms and added a bunch of pressed garlic cloves. Let it all sweat a minute or two and added a cup of apple cider vinegar, 2/3 cup of soy sauce, 5-6 oz brown sugar, a handful of bay leaves, and a couple of tablespoons of whole peppercorns. Put the short ribs back into the dutch oven, threw in some fresh jalapenos, brought it to a quick boil and then let it simmer for about an hour and a half. The I made some creamy polenta before the short ribs were done to serve with it. Very rich and decadent dish, nice and tangy from the vinegar and soy sauce. I think next time I might try to add some coconut milk to the braise as well. Really good regardless.8 points

Yeah, cops beat the shit out of completely peaceful BLM rallies in 2020 pretty regularly. They even shot people's eyes out for fun. And the history of native and leftist protests in America is a loooong history of extremely brutal police tactics. Hell, the Army was deployed to break labor strikes fairly frequently. The idea that any of this is unique in its brutality is laughable. If anything, it's unique in how soft the police were in response to an actual threat to capital.8 points

I have mentioned this before but Keith M has done some amazing work on his craft. I remember when he first started on radio as the color analyst, and it was pretty rough. Dude is straight up legit now on play by play, which is a notably more difficult seat. So great to have two ball players in the booth on PBP and Color. They do an amazing job of pointing out little details, teaching the game, and having some fun. Not unlike my SFGiants home broadcast team, which is best in the bigs in my biased opinion.6 points

Years ago on Hornfans, I once twisted FOX News slogan to: We report, you ignite. A handicapped woman is knocked over by a police horse and nearly trampled. It's an unfortunate result to what was generally a very controlled police action. I hope the woman is okay. Trudeau uses the police to break up a mob. Trudeau orders funds frozen: likely funds raised for and directed to supporting the troublesome protest mob. Therefore, IGNITION!: Trudeau is a wannabe dictator violently and illegally cracking down on opposition to further his desire to be an autocrat. I don't think this sequence is merely an attempt to boost ratings and call together people who prefer rage to thought. I don't think this is merely another logically barren attack on the ebil libs and left. This American coverage and corresponding outrage from the right is aimed at both sides-ing the Jan. 6 insurrection. It's not about the inconsistency of the right which those traitors neither recognize or care about. It's just about the inconsistency of the America-hating, baby-fucking, woke ebil libs who will defund Trudeau who is only doing the same things Trump did. It is dangerous to dismiss all of this as idiocy or grift. We're likely already past the tipping point, but not recognizing the cunning of the enemies that matter is a losing strategy. The overall problem is the malign buffoon electorate; they're made a problem by the cynics who control them. The Donald and Moscow Mitch are not stupid when it comes to self-interest and absolute moral bankruptcy. ps It's just good fortune that my post follows Junior Miller's. Nice, Junior.6 points

Let’s catch up on where things stand: - Lots of LPR/DPR residents herded into tent cities. Russian state media reporting Ukrainian assaults on LPR/DPR forces and alleged terror attacks on LOR/DPR buildings. - Disinformation spiking on Ukraine across the Kremlin information ecosystem, nearly all about Ukrainian aggression - Unnamed sources claim that Biden was so confident because of intercepted communications to proceed with an attack. Note- in 2014 Putin used motorcycle couriers to avoid exactly this - More movements of military equipment into battle order, lots of units popping up with a “Z” marker. Z is not a letter in Russian. Task force marker? - Reports from Belarus locals saying Russian troops are drunk, undisciplined, living in tents in the woods and selling diesel and other equipment. Lots of tensions between locals and non-Slav Russian troops (Caucasians, Tatars, etc.). A reminder that Russia has maybe 25k superbly trained and disciplined Spetznatz and the rest is questionable as seen in Georgian war. Harder to keep them in the field than you think. Russian heavy equipment is also fucking up Belarus roads and other transport infrastructure. - Grom strategic exercises underway and yesterday was hypersonic and ICBM testing. - More ceasefire violations along the LOC than in years, mostly Russian. Clearly provocations.6 points

I absolutely remember this much hand wringing about Crimea. We didn't get what we needed out of the executive branch, last time. I think this current executive branch remembers that and some of that hindsight is driving the policy of today. Crimea was much more of a surprise attack than this slow and massive buildup.5 points

She was a sweet lady. The type that would wake up in the middle of the night and drive to Ft Worth from Round Rock when her daughter told her she was sick and needed help with a newborn. She also made the best damn chocolate chip cookies ever. I haven’t had a chance to talk to my friend yet. He’ll reach out when he can, but he’s got to look out for his dad now who I am sure is hurting right now. I’m sure it’s even worse since he got vaccinated and she didn’t.5 points
