  1. Myself and a buddy of mine that is in SWAT have each thrown in $5000 to purchase the same helmets we wear and send them over to the Ukraine. United Shield International are going to throw in a few for free as well. All in all, it should be 13 helmets getting sent over. I’ve been in contact with Ukrainian embassy in DC on logistics for shipping them over. We’ve made significant progress in the last couple of days. This may actually happen. I stand with the people of Ukraine.

  2. Report on refugee influx at the Berlin Hbf from the boy (recall that he's made batches of b-fast tacos to take down there -- he wasn't able to get down to the station to make a personal delivery until today): We told him that whatever budget he comes up with, we can get it covered. He's working on his plan now. From the biggest images of armored columns in flames, to the simplest - hungry people in a train station after an exhausting traveling day, having left behind their normal lives and homes -- the fucking story of war is fucking shit. Really glad to see the donations here to WCK. Jose Andres is one of the greatest humans alive right now, and what he is doing and has done transcends mere "good work." If all you can do is feed people, then FEED PEOPLE. Words don't do that man justice.

  4. There is nothing wrong with Johnny having 2 dads. There is nothing wrong with a teacher telling the class it’s because they love each other. There is something very wrong with a law where that teacher can lose their job and face civil liability for saying that Fuck off

  5. I see some people wanting to Leroy Jenkins us to the nuclear deaths of my children, and it's pissing me the fuck off. If and when Russia directly attacks NATO or US territory, full military attack on Russia. Until then, we need to keep our heads and pressure Russia in every way short of open military action that we can. Jesus, people, think instead of emote.

  10. My single mom was unmarried when she had me, and - due to our local public school being terrible/under funded - I had to attend a private evangelical Christian school for elementary. It was the only one cheap enough to be covered by whatever school voucher system they had going at the time. Many of those teachers and some of the parents were truly horrible to me for this thing I had absolutely no control over. I was a model student, my mom a model parent. She did drop off/pick up every day with a full time job, and they treated her horribly as well. Perfectly fine in the eyes of the school, it’s admin, and the church which supported it. These people want this treatment to persist for every student/parent that falls outside of the range of “normal”. It’s a vicious two-pronged attack, both making public schools themselves less safe for these students/parents, and also destabilizing public schools (through this bounty system/ vague language) so that more and more people will be forced to funnel their kids into a school like the terror I attended. It’s such bullshit

  11. (Longhorn) Kevin Williamson had a good commentary-Russian Invasion of Ukraine: Civilized World Renders Judgment | National Review“The woman’s pelvis had been crushed and her hip detached.”I don’t even know what that last part means. I suppose I can imagine a crushed pelvis easily enough. I can’t imagine what a detached hip looks like or feels like. The woman in question was famous for a minute. She was a Ukrainian mother who appeared in a famous news photograph. She is dead now. So is the child she was carrying. She was photographed being carried out of that Mariupol maternity hospital that was bombed by Russian troops in Ukraine, one of many examples of the savagery in which the Russians have been engaged. It is tempting to write “sub-human” savagery, but savagery is entirely human. Nobody talks about rattlesnakes or scorpions behaving in a savage fashion — nobody expects them to be anything other than what they are. But we expect more of H. sap. — God knows why.“Unidentified bloodied pregnant woman,” one headline called her. She must have had a name.We know the name of Tatiana Perebeinis, 43, and her children, Nikita, 18, and Alise, 9. They were killed running for their lives when they were fired on by Russian artillery. Another famous photo. She was an accountant for a Silicon Valley tech company, working out of Irpin. “Photos of Tatiana Perebeinis and her kids lying in a gutter, surrounded by suitcases and pet carriers, ran on the front page of The New York Times on Tuesday and reverberated around the world,” reports the Daily Beast. I suppose they did. Here is another family being wiped out, this time caught on video. There are more like it than you want to see.“We are all Ukrainians now,” says the headline over a Wall Street Journalcolumn. The sentiment is a humane one. But it is a lie. We are not all Ukrainians. Most of us are far removed from anything like that kind of danger or that kind of suffering. The worst we have felt is higher gasoline prices and more expensive groceries. These matter, of course, and they matter a great deal to the poor, for whom these additional financial burdens are very heavy. But that is not the same.It is not easy to be brave, and it is not easy to suffer. But how much easier it must be to suffer oneself than to watch one’s children suffer, to be cold and hungry, to die, blown to pieces in the womb before taking their first breath. How many Ukrainian mothers and fathers would happily — joyfully — give their own lives if it meant that their children could have a decent dinner and a safe, warm place to sleep — i.e., if they could have what my dogs have? Millions, I imagine. No, we are not all Ukrainians now. Not by a damned sight. We are not all Russians either. I do not flatter myself that the Russian people have been waiting for my advice, but I will offer it, anyway: You have to act. You must. This is your country, your army, your government, your tax dollars, your flag, your name. Vladimir Putin is not a superman, and he cannot act alone. What is being done by your government is not going to be forgiven. You, and your children, and your grandchildren will bear the shame of this. Things are never going to go back to normal for you. I don’t know if you have noticed, but, to put it in popular terms, the civilized world has got together, and we have voted you off the island. The ties between you and the civilized world that have been cut in recent weeks are not going to be restored quickly, and many of them will never be restored at all. You are not part of the civilized world anymore. We are not going to forget what you have been party to, what so many of you have stood by and accepted. What makes it worse, if that is possible, and certainly more asinine: You have already lost, in that what your government had hoped to achieve will not be achieved. You can murder as many expectant mothers and children as you like, bomb them until you run out of munitions, burn down the hospitals and the libraries, execute all the mayors, and you will still have lost. And when you are gone, the civilized people of this world are going to help to rebuild Ukraine, and you will be — what? Praying for high gas prices?

  12. My second grade daughter’s teacher is gay. They have books like this in the classroom which is a bunch of “this family has only one parent, this family has step siblings, this family has two mommies, wow everyone is wonderful” sort of stuff. I guess that would be banned under the law. Of course, the kids are aware the teacher himself has a boyfriend, and I guess that would have to be hidden from the kids. Basically forcing him back in the closet I guess. Not everyone wants to have their kids taught hateful stuff or to roll the world back to 1950 where we tried to make sure every gay person knew they were outcasts. Check around, see if the local school is bigoted enough for your liking, and send your kid there. No need for a law.

  13. Don't take it personally, but I neg all of your posts immediately without reading because you've already been crowdsourced and came back with a new username and I neg everyone like that. But if I bothered to read your posts, I'd probably neg them anyways, because you're a pathetic hateful shitstain, and you can take that personally if you'd like. Also, go fuck yourself.

  15. Is this like magazines versus clips and Volvos as Tanks? I’ll show myself out. in all seriousness though, that’s a headline, not the body of the article. I just skimmed the body and I didn’t see that the author ever used the term siege. The facts reported seemed consistent with what I’ve seen elsewhere. The NYT is far from perfect, but dismissive comments like this reflect more about your perspective than anything about the NYT.

  16. No more falling back an hour in November if enacted (starting in 2023). I used to not give a shit, but over the last few years, I'm all screwed up for a good 3 or 4 days following each time change. And getting home from work in the dark at 6:00 is not a lot of fun.

  19. Hey while we're at it, let's ban books that show interracial families as well! I just have no idea how to explain that to my kid, and I don't want him getting any nontraditional ideas. It would be a really uncomfortable conversation for me, and I don't like having those. I would much rather tell him about how sinning without repentance to an invisible man in the sky will send him to the depths of hell to writhe in unimaginable pain burning in a lake of fire for eternity along with all the other evil people, demons and Satan himself! That's a much more reasonable scenario to explain to a 6 year old.

  22. There’s no way the west didn’t expect this to be going much better for Russia. We decided we would absolutely not get involved and were prepared to let them essentially take the country or turn it into Belarus; just fund the insurgency. Knowing that, there’s definitely no strategic reason to get involved now. Russia has shown without a shadow of a doubt that they pose zero conventional threat to NATO borders. There’s no reason to escalate when your decision is playing out much better than hoped. I understand it’s frustrating to watch but we absolutely can and will continue to walk the tightrope.

  30. I like keeping it the same all year, but they're doing it backwards. DST is fucking bullshit for anyone who has children or works a typical schedule for a living. It doesn't need to be light outside at 9:30 at night. And anyone who whines about how they like to mow their yard later in the evening can go fuck themselves for making a racket when everyone else is trying to relax.

  35. He can get tortillas there -- they are factory produced, but they're more than good enough for their purposes (actually, they're pretty sturdy and hold up well to being hauled down to the Hbf). He's already working with his crew on a plan. Potato egg and cheese was appreciated (they even had a few vegetarians who asked), and it's simple and easy on a nervous stomach. But they also made some with just eggs and ground pork, and those were really popular -- a lot of folks wanted something hearty, with meat (but again, has to be mild for folks who aren't used to any spice). He's figuring out amounts, and how to turn it into a bigger operation -- a few people on the stove, others assembling and wrapping, etc. He's out of town tomorrow, but will use the train time with his friend to nail down specific amounts and such.
