  1. This visit is the first visit of a U.S. President to any war zone without U.S. troops present. The reaction unfolding from Ukrainians, their European neighbors, and even Russian media propagandists is a demonstration of the unique power of the United States to inspire for good when we wield it responsibly and with care. It’s something no other nation has and watching it action should inspire Americans to be more thoughtful and responsible themselves. The article about what Ukraine is losing shows what’s at stake and how they are fighting. Ukrainians and not Russians are the heirs to the heroism shown in the Great Patriotic War.

  2. I am so fucking proud of my country. A former republic is at war and fighting off Russia and our POTUS is there in person to tell Russia to eat shit. This is the biggest embarrassment of Putin’s life.

  3. No Cloak Room, but I am a political conservative, at heart a Reagan Republican. I have never posted these words before, but here goes- I am proud of Joe Biden. I am also proud that he emphasized bipartisan support for Ukraine (as did McConnell earlier this weekend). He is setting an example for all of us. I assume he isn’t visiting Kyiv to tell them that we can’t send a certain weapons system. I’m looking forward to the updated goodie list. It’s not all sunshine and daffodils, unfortunately. Shit is real for Ukraine. Here is a WSJ article from this weekend about how deep into the populace the Ukraine armed forces have to draw

  4. By the way, the visit comes on a significant day. This is the day Ukraine honors the β€œHeavenly Hundred” who were killed on and near Maidan. The first Ukrainians to die fighting Russia. Photo is mine from 2018.

  5. No cr, and I get not wanting to grant a blank check when we have plenty of our own problems at home, but no more aid for Ukraine means aiding the Russians. Fuck that guy in the goatass. This is absolutely the perfect situation.... we don't have to put a single American life at risk while helping to crush an existential threat to the world while simultaneously building up some good will in a part of the world we haven't since the late 80's...or ever. Also putting china on notice to simmer the fuck down. And what is the cost? Having a national garage sale. If you aren't on board with that then you aren't on board with the actual good we can do. So go fuck yourself.

  6. What I love is that the truth is this: "No....you're just fighting some of our stuff. About 5% of it. And very little of the really good stuff. If you were ACTUALLY fighting Biden and America, including all of our stuff, and all of our trained troops.....we'd be having this conversation in occupied Moscow. Right now, you're just fighting the sweat that drips from my prodigious nuts. If I was actually teabagging you, your smothered ass would damn well know it."

  7. Biden popping up in Kyiv and telling the orcs we were doing it is such an absolute tea bagging of putin. This is at once a signal to the free world and an absolute humiliation of pooty tang. Sa da tay

  9. Hopefully........I mean, God forbid any modern-day Business School Graduates get the wrong idea of leveraging a job selling cars into founding what became an auto dealership empire that facilitated the ownership of two professional sports franchises which in turn facilitated the donation of millions upon millions to both the Academic and Athletic operations of the school from which they graduate. I mean, that would be silly....

  11. If you want to make it bipartisan, you could add in the thing TFG told Zelensky when he last talked with him, you know, when Zelensky needed life-saving Javelins to stave off a Russian invasion that was coming - β€œI need you to do me a favor, though.” HILARIOUS! HAHAHAHAHA!!!

  20. Yes. It also applies to when you are stuck behind a vehicle. Constant fire is more productive. If both are shooting then you both run out. On my security teams every RPG lead has a loader. RPG fires, AK came up. RPG gets loaded. This way should there be a grenade for instance, hits the team, one is out, the other can take over. Lot of cross training. And there is no weakness in being the loader. You keep up fire, you keep magazines loaded, you keep weapons cool.

  21. I went to the seminary for my masters and my wife went to the university. We live nearby and are good friends with the pastor who was preaching in chapel that day. We also know the president of the university well. They are all humble and wise individuals. Absolutely not Christian nationalists. It started not really from the sermon, but from a student who got up and described issues he had been dealing with (confession), and then others did the same and the service hasn't ended since. My wife went to the service last week, but I haven't been able to and, frankly, have been a bit skeptical. It's also not really my scene anymore, but everyone I've spoken with who has been said it's just people singing together and quietly praying. Nothing real crazy or charismatic (in the theology of worship sense). I have greatly appreciated how the leaders have shepherded this movement so far. They've turned down every request from big name preachers, news organizations, and worship leaders who, well meaning or not, risked turning it into something other than a genuine movement. However, it's turned into something massive and truly beyond much of their control. They have like 20k people descending on a small college town of a few thousand. So, will there be crazies? Yes, just like with any gathering this large. They don't even have enough chapels or sanctuaries in the entire town, so people are just worshipping in the green spaces at the university. We'll see what comes of it. I imagine there will be good and bad, but the bad will be more public and the good will be more in the everyday changes people make in their hearts, minds, and actions. I can just tell you that the way this started and the way the leaders have tried to keep it centered on something real and genuine is the most encouraging part. I know they're basically saying they're going to wrap up the actual shutting down of the normal university schedule after next week, so that'll be another significant shift.

  22. Let me take a stab here, Chris. Biden was probably my least favorite candidate on the Dem side. I had serious reservations about his age, and while I'm not crazy with the job he's been doing, he has actually exceeded my low expectations. But I wasn't voting for Biden. I was voting against that fat orange fucktard Trump. it didnt matter who the dems nominated in '20 or who they will nominate in '24. I will not vote for any GOP candidate until everyone last one of the current crop of republican shitstains are out of office, which likely means my lifetime. Watching an insurrection will do that to a fellow. So fuck you Chris, fuck Donald Trump, and fuck the GQP.

  23. Seriously….beyond badass. The scenes of Biden and Zelensky strolling through the streets as the air rad sirens go off - whether the sirens were theater or not - will be iconic and historical. Dark Brandon letting his nuts hang, and that means letting America’s nuts hang. Reasserting our position as the leader of the free world. And yes, his first question to the Zelenskys was perfect; it shows his genuine humanity and decency when, again, he carries that flag for all of us. This was an important, and badass, moment. To see the continued attack from the American isolationists and Putin stooges, most of whom are from a particular political persuasion, makes me ragey…but it also assures me that our support for Ukraine could not be more necessary and right. But in the end, the cold truth is that Ukraine is paying an awful price that can never be recouped. We can only hope that after the war comes opportunity, redevelopment, and future generations who will stand on the shoulders of heroes, and farm soil consecrated with their blood.

  27. I don't even consider myself a Reagan Republican. More like a Nixon Republican without the shady fixing elections bullshit, and choosing to use the civil rights as a political weapon to win the south over. Mostly I didn't like the whole massive budget deficit and enabling the creation of a massive bond market to subsidize the American lifestyle, and the insistence on a negative opinion regarding Roe v Wade before someone would be considered as a federal judge. The person I really hated as a Republican in terms of his mentality was Newt Gingrich, who was instrumental in changing how Congress operates regarding bipartisanship. But I never voted Democrat for the presidency until Donald Trump. I did think Barack Obama was a pretty good president for a Democrat, but I was disappointed with the US response to Crimea and the Donbas separatists. I honestly felt like we failed the Ukrainians when they needed us most. Not just the US. The whole world. I don't think of it as a Democrat/Republican thing. I just know in 2014 I became a one issue guy in a way I never was before in my life. I have been pleased and impressed with how Biden has helped rally the world around Ukraine, specifically Europe. People didn't think it could be done. It reminds me a little bit of when the first George Bush rallied the world around the sudden takeover of Kuwait. Not exactly a defense of democracy, but certainly a defense of territorial sovereignty, and a possible frightening concentration of an important natural resource. In any case, there's no doubt in my mind that Ukraine has earned being a representative democracy and a functioning contributor to Western ideals and aspirations in ways that there may not be another equal. Well, since WWII, anyway. I am very proud of my country, and very proud of Joe Biden as my president at this moment. My hope and prayer is we continue to support the Ukrainians as substantially as possible, both through victory, and then through the recovery. I've said it before, but I'd love for the border between Ukraine and Russia to resemble in terms of contrast in standards of living West Germany/East Germany, and North/South Korea.

  28. Sad day. If you remember he hitch-hiked to College Station because he wanted to play football, they told him to piss-off so he hitch-hiked to Austin. His desire and effort were recognised here and the rest is history. So think of it, T.Boone Pickens starts playing basketball at A&M and then transfers to Okie A&M (now state) and later he contributes many millions. Red McCombs gets passed over by A&M, comes to Texas where he later contributes many millions. If both of those guys had stayed at A&M... They could have both had a lifetime working at a gas station!
