This is all hilarious. They have such tiny brains. 1. They destroyed the SWC with their rampant buying of players. 2. They always voted for unequal revenue sharing in the Big 12. 3. They were discussing leaving the Big 12 behind everyone's backs before we were discussing a LHN and they lied about that. 4. They attempted to blow up the LHN. 5. They intentionally left the Big 12 in a year they played us at Pyle. 6. We voted to give extra money to smaller Big 12 schools to help them as the conference was evolving post-Nebraska, Mizzou, Colorado, aggy. 7. They attempted to blow up the Big 12 on their way out. 8. They attempted to blow up our move to the SEC.20 points

I love how Russian state TV openly lists their mouthpieces: Tucker Carlson, TFG, DeSantis, and Sloth Toes. Seriously, we have a gleeful fifth column here in the US, and they are the leading voices of an entire political party. A party that, for 90% of my life, stood firmly against an authoritarian Russia, and loudly sang the refrains of freedom. And now.....they're simps for a Russian dictator. If you'd have told me this was how shit was gonna turn out 20 years ago, I'd have told you to quit with the crazy pills. Still, it's refreshing to see even the pathological liars on Russian state TV be unable to deny that Biden just dragged America's nuts across Putin's face.19 points

Iβd say fairly well. Attendance was probably about 125-150, and I was fairly impressed with the speakers. Iβve heard Sark, CDC, and the boosters involved speak before except Wheels, but I thought they all had very compelling speeches that were geared towards people who might have in the past been hesitant to support NIL. I would say I walked in with zero expectations on what this would be, and came out thinking that a lot of people will support NIL moving forward in some small amount at least. They definitely geared their pitch towards the idea of tapping our massive living alumni group towards a subscription model like Burnt Ends, as well as establishing a baseline for most of the roster. One speaker who has shelled out a ton of money so far made a fairly passionate defense that these kids arenβt wasting this money on cars and grills, but flying parents to games or paying off their high interest debt occurred during Covid, and this guy would know. And in that sense the pitch was very much honed to The Olds. The more I reflect, the more I think it went really well. Iβd be shocked if this kind of road tour doesnβt shake loose some bigger regular supporters to OneFund. one personal concern of mine was also addressed, which was the tax instruction these kids are getting is legit, above and beyond what is legally required. Other things I learned but didnβt know is that if a kid tests the portal, he is not welcome back, and heβs fully aware of that in advance. Sark has had very frank conversations with the team on that level. He is highly, highly protective of the culture and the way he handles NIL with kids reflects that. It feels like weβre in good hands. Still a long way to go in terms of funding and spreading the word, but these guys seem to have a good handle on the real world, and arenβt shying away from it. They need dollars and support staff, imo. Plenty of things to work on, and improve, but I feel good about what we have to work with compared to other schools, and hopefully we keep moving forward. People just need to buy in and pay up. also some good and well deserved shots at aTm and the sec for their behavior for decades and their current hand wringing. I also met @Enchubben and @Okcool and to my surprise, they were both normal, cool guys. I was naturally expecting both to be 5β4β and approximately 300 lbs with high decibel lisps, which is how I envision most of you reprobates.18 points

Given that the $25k dinner that followed was also well attended, it was a huge success. Iβd expect one of these in Houston once or twice a year. This raised over $500k on top of creating all kinds of better awareness and interest from people who β¦ umm β¦ still this newfangled Internet is probably a fad for those kooky youngins. The one in Dallas is being organized as a smaller affair with more highly targeted donors. Typical. Weβll see if they do jack shit. To date, the DFW contingent of UTβs base for NIL has shown up as the fake-tanned, frosted-tips, collar-popped clown making $40k and driving a BMW that he canβt afford. Theyβve talked a lot of shit and have done nothing. You know, about what we should expect.14 points

I'm more concerned that someone thinks that the escalator working at DFW has shitall to do with the US Government helping Ukraine fight a war.13 points

So Monday morning at DFW at C20 where escalators have been down for months. 1 or the other or both. Anyway up is working and guy says βstill brokeβ. I agree. He then says βyet we are still giving money to Ukraineβ. I turned around and said βIβll be a little inconvenienced so people can live and be free from a dictator.β Turned around kept going to ticket counter.13 points

God you guys are thin skinned sometimes. Isnβt he saying exactly what you all want? Everyone wants the divorce finalized yesterday except for Fox. Pollard spent the entirety of 2011-2021 licking your boots, gladly acquiescing to ISU games on LHN (unlike schools like Tech that openly shit on it). NO ONE WANTS TO BE ON LHN ANYMORE. Not even you! https://sports.yahoo.com/news/iowa-state-ad-without-texas-and-oklahoma-the-big-12-is-the-mountain-west-195112848.html There he is gargling your nut sack. Lindsey Graham said much the same thing, too. In extremely strong language. Not trying to get into Graham as a singular personality. We talk about the Republicans being against the support for Ukraine, but much of that is the combination of American isolationism combined with being out of power. There's a wing of the Democrats that's made some of the same kind of noises, but were effectively shut down because they're the party in charge at the moment. They wouldn't have been shut down if the Republicans had the presidency and the same kind of support was being given to Ukraine. I'm not pointing fingers at either party. Mostly I'm just grateful the people in power ARE supporting Ukraine, and pointing out it still very much has bipartisan support, as well as bipartisan reluctance. My feeling is it's a matter of time before we give the Ukrainians both ATACMS as well as F-16s. I'm seeing too many articles from too many sources, citing too many leaders from too many different countries to think it's not going to happen. I'm all for sooner over later.12 points

Iβve only ever approached one celeb. Kerri Strug. I was on acid and cried a little bit while uttering something along the lines of βI just want to thank you for what you did for our country.β I hung up my cleats after that.12 points

My buddy did, and I was trying to guide him there. As I was yelling profanities at him over the phone for not being able to see the giant fucking tacklebox with nothing else around it, some old dude came up to me, tried to grab my shirt and started screaming at how "we don't talk like that in front of women in Texas" or something to that effect. The people with him quickly pulled him away and as the rest of my buddies and I stood around somewhat stunned, some Aggies our age ran up to us and said "do you guys know who just chewed you out? That was RC Slocum!" They recognized him on the big screen later in the game for some accomplishment of one of his teams, and sure enough they weren't kidding. Same guy.11 points

FWIW I overheard them say there were 180 RSVP's. though i would agree the attendance was probably more like 125. Couple of interesting notes that arent necessarily mindblowing if you have been paying attention: 1) No one is getting 7 figure NIL deals from Texas directly. They may be getting there when you add in external NIL deals which is what is intended. 2) You would be shocked at the amount of NIL $ Arch got. (in a good way) 3) Texas appears to be a in a great place currently having met all promises/obligations and following the rules/laws to a "T". Student athletes' marketing agents are taking notice which shools do and do not which is and should continue to benefit us. 4) Agree that they are trying to target a bit more of the $5K- $25K a year crowd but it sounded like they had a pretty compelling story to sell some of the larger donors that are or were historically adamantly against NIL. Certainly a mentoring and networking benefit to this for the student athletes that I hadn't considered for those that dont have a future in professional sports. 5) Want to be humbled? Attend an event like this. That room was littered with some of the most brilliant/wealthy/successful individuals I've ever been around. All very approachable and friendly, however. Also briefly met Gerry Hamilton and Bobby Burton as well as the Surly contingent there - all really cool individuals.11 points
