I think the best solution is to make the Thanksgiving weekend rivalry game - LSU vs. Texas. Can you imagine how great an atmosphere it would be at Death Valley filled with swamp people full of turkey - Fried and Wild. The two top schools in neighboring states... sounds like fun times. I'm sure aggy would vote for it, after encouragement...17 points

And here's the output: Dear [Coach/Recruiter], I hope this letter finds you well. I am writing to express my sincere gratitude for your efforts in recruiting me to your college football team. I am humbled by the time and energy you invested in me, and I am honored that you saw potential in me as a player. After careful consideration and thought, I have decided to decommit from your football program. This was not an easy decision for me to make, but I believe it is the best choice for my future. Please know that my decision was not a reflection of your program or your coaching staff. I have the utmost respect for your team and the hard work that you all put in day in and day out. I want to give a special shoutout to [Coach/Recruiter name], who first approached me about playing for your team. Your belief in my abilities and your guidance throughout the recruitment process was invaluable. I also want to thank [Assistant Coach/Recruiter name] for taking the time to answer all of my questions and concerns about the program. Your honesty and transparency meant a lot to me. Finally, I want to thank the entire coaching staff and recruitment team for their dedication to building a successful football program. I have no doubt that your program will continue to thrive and produce talented players. Thank you again for your time and consideration. I am grateful for the opportunity that you have given me, and I wish you and your team all the best in the future. Sincerely, [Your name]10 points

This is correct. We'll see if the Texas vs. ATM game ends up being worth much after the first few match-ups. Historically, it wasn't a big ratings draw. This may be true in your experience, but the historic data doesn't support the notion that the game had national relevance. The ratings were never really a boon and it was usually relegated to a tertiary sports topic for that week at the national media level. Mostly, to Tex Pete's point, because ATM was almost always irrelevant. When ATM actually did win, they were cheating their asses off and got banned from TV, which led to us playing Baylor for a few years on Thanksgiving, to even lower ratings, and then the game getting moved to Black Friday morning. Look, it's certainly a popular narrative at the national level that this is a great rivalry that needs to be revived. They're forgetting their own past where they largely ignored it. Maybe the national interest and regional fervor for SEC football match-ups and the sheer size of Texas' brand these days leads to this game being a much bigger thing in the future, but I doubt it. My doubt for it is simple - ATM will fuck it up. They always do. In this case, all they have to do is keep being their mediocre, weird selves. On the Texas end, it's not like Texas hasn't actively tried to destroy its brand and fanbase via 12+ years of mostly abject failure, yet it seems like we simply cannot. The opposite is true for the aggies, and that's probably enough to ultimately anchor the game to a status between that of the USC-Notre Dame match-up (every other year) and Egg Bowl that weekend. Every time they seem to be vaguely relevant beyond the wall of College Station, they pull the bookshelf back onto themselves and either go back to being a laughingstock or complete national irrelevance, due to them just doing their usual cultish weird shit or due to sticking to their historic baseline on the field, or both.10 points

If you've never had to spend time thinking about how you are going to keep your life together because the government is after your people, never considered if you could just leave the state your are in or if you'd have to find a way to live in another country, never had a concern that you were going to provide some physical cue that would cause someone to attack you randomly, consider yourself lucky. But also, don't be an asshole to those of us who have had to complete these thought exercises. It doesn't affect you yet, but given enough time it will affect everyone one of you. Once we're exterminated, and the gays are surely on deck right after they kill off all the trans people, the learned people will be up next, so good luck!9 points

People seem to forget that A&M's only relevance post WWII has been when they were cheating. Even the "great" Johnny Manziel was getting paid and Texas A&M knew about it and condoned it. Texas and A&M were never fighting for a conference championship, only one at a time was ever good. It was a regional rivalry, like Michigan-Michigan State. A big name and a wannabe. I would probably care, but aggie fans have consistently been petulant children and have treated our school and fans like shit. Some of you may long for those days, but I guess some women long to go back to the man who beat the shit out of them, too. They aren't worth the hassle.9 points

Prob should also go in the Tucker Carlson thread (if not already posted): 'Daily Show' Guest Hasan Minhaj Has Filthiest Explanation For Tucker Carlson Minhaj said one behind-the-scenes message “truly freaked me out.” It was a message from Carlson warning that viewers might leave for Newsmax if Fox News didn’t toe the Trump line and spread his conspiracy theories. “He’s saying, ‘If I don’t say this bullshit, my viewers will leave me,’” Minhaj translated. “This whole time we thought Fox News was manipulating its viewers. But it turns out the viewers were manipulating Fox News.” Then he offered up his explanation of Carlson’s behavior: “Just think of it like this: Tucker Carlson is a moral vacuum. A hole, if you will, who glorifies election deniers. So, a glory hole. And his viewers expect him to please them with his mouth, and he’s constantly terrified that they’ll find a new, more satisfying glory hole. And that is why Tucker Carlson will never stop sucking.” Just ruthless.8 points

Btw you said you hoped we saw each other IRL and made up? Here or nowhere. Unequivocally not a chance with your positions. Your positions - active and passive, express and implied - are an anathema to my and my people’s very existence. Do not walk up to me if you think you see me. You are not welcome. You are my enemy.8 points

How comfortable is your morning coffee routine this morning? let me tell you about mine. I’m sitting here in town waiting for an early morning meeting. while sipping on my coffee you want to know what I’m thinking about? Can I renew my passport a year early while Biden is still in office? Is Ken Paxton going to ask for DL records that go back more than 2 years. What am I going to do if he does? will the Texas republicans be successful in an effective ban on GAC? the bill has been filed. Vacation in Colorado this summer, what towns will we visit to look for an escape plan? Do we need to try and buy or rent this year to get a head of it? How can I get my meds cross border if I have to because GAC is effectively banned in Texas? Should I detransition? God no. Do I run away or stay and fight? Do I speak up or try and go underground as much as possible? Is that even doable? Not really, at least 1000 people actually know me and that I’m trans because 8 years ago I told them, because I had to. but you keep dismissing it as bathroom bills - even while some of the bathroom bills would make me a criminal - scratch that - A SEX OFFENDER - just for peeing in a bathroom stall. this whole thing is fucking backward. We are not here to protect the strong, we are here to protect the marginalized. Blocking trans care including care of trans kids to protect the rare cisgender kid or adult who feels later they made a mistake is the wrong framework. access to care and blocking heinous laws that are on par with Nazi Germany is what we should be doing. this isn’t rhetoric. Far from it.8 points

When calling in battalion mortars, it helps to assume they'll target you instead of the enemy if you give them half a chance. As in, if the target is 500 meters away and the first shots hit halfway between you and it, do not adjust fire by 250 meters. Try a smaller amount, until you are convinced that the future fry-cooks are walking it in the right direction.8 points

On a side note, I don't know about Russian artillery and how safe their fuses are, but our fuses typically don't arm until they are in flight, and have spun a certain amount of revolutions. It uses centrifugal force to cause a metal rod/interrupter to slide out of the way and then the fuse can actually make the shell go explodey - if that rod has not slid out of the way, then even if the fuse goes off, the fire does not travel down into the shell and blow up. I'm oversimplifying, but I'll try to find a video of it. It's kind of a low-tech solution to making sure things are as safe as possible. Edit: this explains it - go to 7 minutes if it doesn't.8 points

Oh, it's different, is it? I suggest everyone head over to 12thman.com where you'll see sections under "about" for ATHLETIC DIRECTOR ROSS BJORK, Compliance, academics. Hell, under "Staff Directory" the first name listed is their Athletic Director. Totally separate. Lets not forget this beauty under Mission Statement: But my absolute favorite, at the page footer, is this gem: Guys, they're right. This motherfucker isn't in any way associated with the university or athletic department.7 points
