  2. My nightmare scenario is Terry wins a miracle national championship and they have to hire him. I’d probably be done as a fan.

  5. If Texas makes the final four framing that as a "no win situation" is funny. I would take a final 4 if it meant a couple more years of Terry in a heartbeat. That's clearly a win for a program that's made 1 final 4 in about 70 years.

  7. the last time we won this tournament there was dissection and division in the locker room, and the head coach was beefing with some of his players. the celebration was awkward, and the celebratory photos features disinterested players standing off the top the side and not celebrating. this is not that! wow, what a team, what a job done by Hot Rod Rodney Terry, and what beautiful unity and love shown all season by this special group of guys. i am so, so happy for everyone involved in this win. they deserve this, and it was well earned. congratulations champs! 8. But wait, I was told the Tech Bros knew better than us, average peons who properly diversify our holdings, step carefully when taking on debt, and just seek to earn reasonable long term gains.

  9. So we should bail out a bank and financial/business leaders of companies who stupidly put too much money in a single account because they were too lazy or too cheap to get a DIF insurance, open a CDARS account (IntraFi), or one of the other alternatives? FUCK THAT. I am tired of the US Taxpayer bailing out idiots who are not equipped to do their fucking job. I am so going to miss that new app feature that puts a mustache on every cat. Boo fucking hoo.

  14. The FDIC literally incentivizes people to keep money in banks by covering up to 250K Why should the taxpayer cover ALL deposits? Why should banks be allowed to speculate with depositors money if they’re not allowed any downside risk?

  16. It is like nobody in the industry is over 40 and so has no memory of interest rates being other than zero. Interest rates now are not 'high'. They are about 'normal' now. The past 15 years have been the abnormal ones.

  21. SVB's appeal to the Silicon Valley VCs was that it was not a "too big too fail" bank. Therefore SVB could engage in certain risks like trading stocks, commodities and derivatives for profit. They also avoided stringent oversight that would have perhaps enabled the Federal Reserve to catch their death spiral before the run on SVB happened on Friday, thanks to (edit: the political muscle of) those same VC firms. SVB's ability to engage in certain investments is what eventually led to their demise. But it's also what gave them inroads in Silicon Valley that larger banks wouldn't have been able to pull off. Finding a buyer for a bank with the balance sheet of SVB and a clientele who don't particularly want to do business with a traditional bank (see SVB, see Crypto) will be a challenge. Especially because the bank's the Federal Reserve hold the most leverage over are precisely the TBTF banks.

  29. I’d be concerned over the long term because he doesn’t have a great resume from his past stops as an HC; however, I’m still happy with what he’s done currently and excited for the tournament. Those things aren’t mutually exclusive.

  34. Someone else was complaining about Terry winning it all and us being stuck with him I’d give some of y’all’s first born for an NCAA title in basketball. The most amazing March Madness run by this program in its history. This fan base has mega nostalgia for a MNC from 2005, a basketball title would keep us full for a decade or so

  35. you know what i've been the most impressed with this tournament (and really all year?) how dedicated and selfless dillon mitchell and arterio morris have been. these days, you take two kids like that and you only give them 5-10 mpg and they are checked out by early february. not these guys. i am so impressed with how fully bought in they both are, showing no signs of ego or entitlement despite them both being put on a pedestal their whole lives. they genuinely appear to just love grinding and competing with their teammates, and as normal as that used to be for freshman players, i have to give those guys huge respect for the way they've handled themselves. each of them has had his moments in this tourney, and we may very well need them going forward, and that wouldn't be possible if these guys were typical stud freshmen. i'm really proud and happy to have those two as Longhorns.
