My 11 YO daughter asked me this morning when she can register to vote. I told her the republicans don't want her to vote until 18 so they passed a law banning kids from voting.30 points

Holy shit this is wild. This is some serious forward-leaning nuclear signaling: It’s a fairly open secret but almost never acknowledged that we have a nuke-sharing agreement with key Allies. Today the head of Dutch Air Combat Command posted this image of an F-35 armed with practice B-61 nuclear gravity bombs and a challenge coin referencing the deterrence mission. What this tweet really says: The Dutch Air Force is ready to deliver American nukes with their F-35s. This tweet was written for a few dozen people that work for the Russian MoD.16 points

Lots of this has been said, but I will add my voice in concurrence: 1. Trying to obtain advantages including by stealing signs is not the issue. Everybody tries to steal signs because only an idiot does not want intelligence before an engagement. The issue here is seeking and gaining advantage by KNOWINGLY and WILLFULLY violating a published and objective rule over a period of YEARS. 2. Michigan is showing its colors as dirty. The instinct to sling mud and cover up is shameful. Is this what they want to teach their students to do when caught in misbehavior? 3. Who cares who ratted them out and what relationships existed among those who caught Michigan cheating. The issue is the cheating. 4. If no punishment is meted out for this cheating, why not set up electronic snooping for the helmet communications in the future? Why not bribe opposing coaches to reveal game information? Why have rules at all? The point of consequences is not always merely the bulwark against the specific infraction at hand, but rather to reinforce the notion that rules exist and we should play fair. 5. This is a big deal. Statistics show Michigan fares far better in key metrics when cheating. People's livelihoods are made and broken based on how college football games turn out. Draft positions go up and down; coaches are fired or given raises; etc. Literally millions of dollars change hands in ways directly influenced by these scores and statistics. For anyone who knowingly lied about the behavior and profited as a result, we are now potentially talking about actual fraud. 6. The choice between immediate and delayed consequences, between up-front response and "letting things play out" is a false dichotomy. It is both possible and appropriate to apply an initial consequence with the intent to select a final punishment once the scope of the misbehavior is better understood. Those pushing to wait are really pushing to avoid consequences now (when the cheating is truly bearing fruit) and hope never to face them at all with the passage of enough time. 7. NCAA ,B1G, and all persons (natural and otherwise) harmed by this cheating need to hold Michigan's and the coaching staff's feet to the fire to come clean and cooperate fully. All punishments need to be on the table. If a years-long interstate cheating ring isn't worth investigating, the next cheater in line will take this to levels we probably can't even imagine.15 points

I used to sit in a cube numbered 66 so of course I added another 6. The zealots caused a huge stink over it. I reported everyone of them to HR for religious discrimination and started wearing a balphomet necklace every day. A couple quit and the others got transferred to another floor. Fuck those superstitious nut jobs.13 points

Go check out the demo from the Eras tour. It's 10-50 year olds easily. Moms who love Swift brought their daughters who love Swift. The girls who grew up on her are now in their 20s and 30s. They're about to start having kids. They'll pass the music onto them. She's a pretty self-sustaining artist. She's also brilliant at marketing. Yeah, she has 10+ year old albums...that she just redid herself to introduce to a new fanbase. My oldest's favorite album is an album that was released when she was 3. That kid is 2 years from voting age and she was very angry when Roe was overturned.12 points

It’s exactly what people mean when they talk about structural racism and how the dreaded CRT isn’t just about vibes and hate for whitey but trying to remove real-life inequities in the way the law treats real-life people who are getting screwed. There’s also some non-structural old-fashioned racism in that this POS would not be pulling this shit with white people. But the point is that the individual-level racism can be defanged in a big way if it can’t be weaponized within a legal system that is no longer intentionally racist but that simply hasn’t been un-racised. Also tempted to get up on my soapbox about how this is a great example of why we need the dinosaur media and how the consolidation of local and regional media to corporate interests is not going to lead to a blooming of great citizen journalism. Citizens don’t have the time or ability to do a piece like this. The trend is moving to make it easier for the local shitheads to fuck your over.10 points
