1. Jar Jar, is that you? SayWhaaaat?.jpg
2. I wont mention any names (don't bother sending a PM), but I have had 3 Shaggers who were on this track. Additionally, there are customers who see that final depreciation check & get dollar signs in their eyes. It was the Storm Chasers who were throwing out ""free roof" back when deductibles were $ 500 & it didn't take long for homeowners to get conditioned to "I get a free roof"; word got around fast. Then insurance companies saw the ratio of claims going up & *poof* insurance companies started with 1% deductibles to put more of the financial burden back on property owners. Far too many homeowners think of a roof as something insurance has the exclusive responsibility to pay for when in reality, outside of a covered peril (high wind, hail) this is a homeowner maintenance issue. I get people consistently who filed a claim for a tree rub & while that's not the insurance company's responsibility, if they had not wasted the IC's time it wouldn't raise costs across the board. We all need IC's to remain solvent so when valid claims ARE filed the ability to be paid appropriately is there.
3. @CleverNickname, call around to the pawn shops on 183. I think there are maybe 3 within reasonable distance from you. Also, have you considered maybe a metal cap for the hole? Keep rain out (I don't know what your current cover is like)... & what are you doing for overall "attractive nuisance" issues re: kids?
4. 99.9% correct. If there is any recoverable depreciation to collect, then there IS a requirement to show proof of deductible being paid prior to insurance sending out the depreciation payment. I have extensively discussed this in one or two other threads here on Shag². https://statutes.capitol.texas.gov/Docs/IN/htm/IN.707.htm
5. Next thing you know, she's pregnant & he's married.
6. Let's get something straight & I do mean 100% accurate here: I never "STOLE" any truck & after fully paying for the vehicle have NEVER received the title. This shit has to stop. ● Did I drive through some tolls? Yes. ●● Have I been given a total for any of that? No. ○ ○ Keep in mind that if I had been able to register the truck in MY name (i.e. had the title) this would not be an issue. . . . . . . . • Was a parking citation issued (that I never knew about because apparently someone took the ticket off the truck windshield?) ALSO Yes. •• Have I been given a total for that? No. ☆ This bullshit about "theft" of the vehicle absolutely has to stop. ☆
7. From 2019, Texas state law expressly prohibits this "advertising credit" stuff. https://www.tdi.texas.gov/tips/tdi08072019.html The law also specifies the exact text, font type & size that has to go on our contracts with this wording: I have been out of commission with some sorta flu or covid this past week & would have responded sooner earlier had I seen this thread & the multiple referral tags. I will send you a PM; we have completed a few Shag roofs in the past year (in addition to the many others over the +15 years of HF / Shag / Surly). gsoda3 , dieucla98 are two recent projects. As to the deductible, you are required to pay that however there are various upgrades & improvements we will do for your project & that all will depend on the specific possibilities for your project.
8. 2 choices here: Say you hit the lottery & are Shag² 1% but don't actually use those words - or - How lazy ARE ya?
9. He already said they were only a few years into the marriage - don't get ahead of yourself.
10. I don't wanna look it up - is that Cagney or Lacey?
11. I don't recall if we have any Physical Therapists in the group, however if we do - please comment: One of the best things you can do for both your parent & yourself is to go to a PT appointment & ask the PT to show you the various methods of patient transfer, assisting in getting up from a wheelchair 9lock wheels, swing footrests away or fully remove, get wheelchair closer to the transfer point) or regular chair, moving up higher in the bed / roll to side & partially remove sheets / roll 189 back & then remove the sheet - repeat to install a new sheet, how to get someone off the floor when they are mostly cognizant but not able to assist much, how to transition into & out of vehicles that are different heights / door swing capabilities, etc. Back in the early 90's, I was a Physical Therapy Aide in hospital setting & was instructed on all of these things because I was the person going to a patient room & bringing them down for whatever their PT needs were & then taking the patient back to their room. These lessons have served me well both to assist the individual in need AND to save my back / neck, etc. Back around 8 years ago, I was able to assist a nearly 300 lb. person who had tripped. Just me. Scooped them up like I was a bantamweight bodybuilder. Focus on your body position, their body position, foot position for both of you, arm locations (where on their shoulder or neck or under arm you place yours), how to instruct them, a countdown on what you're going to do & how you intend to do things so they know what to expect, etc. There is far too much to explain in a Shag² post & I'm certain there are YouTube vids available however nothing beats physical 1:1 instruction. This ain't a tutorial on how to change oil or thread a needle. Last night I assisted the RN @ Mom's rehab facility to get her moved higher up in the bed (one on each side) & about an hour earlier I transitioned her from the chair into her bed - easy peasy with experience.
12. Rr: scams against the Olds, I wanna click the "Rage +1" however Tapa only gives a "Like" option. & Now I'm headed over to the rehab in Kyle where Mom was just transferred to post surgery (her 3rd night @ Saint David's qualified for the rehab place vs. dumping her @ home).
13. Dateline: ~2010 (or something like that) Location: Wells Fargo, Addison. Go in to cash a customer check for something like $ 6,000⁰⁰. Teller : Oh, if you [with a check written against WF] do not have a WF account, you will need to see one of our banker associates 1st. Me, knowing there will be a $ 4.00... maybe $ 7.00 fee: "Sure, let's move along here & gitt-er done." "Banker associate": "Hi, so..." looks @ I.D., looks @ check, reviews payee info on computer... then spends 5 minutes asking me all sorts of script questions that are supposed to induce me to open an account & on every turn, I politely say "No, thanks... only here to cash this today so I can pay my crew. No. Nope. Nyet. Nah. Nu - uh. No - no - no... Really, I simply need to cash it so my crew can get paid; they are waiting." Eventually she says "Well... maybe you should just go & cash this with YOUR bank as I'm not going to be able to assist you." & I find another WF branch that is maybe 1½ ~ 2 miles up the road & while I still had to "see the banker associate", this one accepted my 2 "No" answers & then walked me to the front of the line & handled everything smoove. I may have even posted that tale back on Shag¹.
14. IDK... How DO they not see it??? Maybe something further down road that has a similar color scheme?? That shit not only looked fatal to the riders but also their bikes w/ a possible headset crack.
15. Hospital bedside tables. - why is it that with 4 wheels, only 2 of them pivot & it often seems that actually 3 of the 4 don't swivel?

Getting old sucks

Same, but different [emoji445]. Managed a band for 5+ years & was on stage (& in nightclubs for over 10), never using any protection... it was the 80's / 90's. Wasn't a thing for even foamies. I have been to an audiologist for testing & they said minor in 1 frequency but overall NBD. Wife doesn't believe me & refuses to acknowledge that maybe sometimes she shouldn't be facing the other direction & in a different room.
