  1. New house.  Wife is in full nest mode.  She has reorganized the kitchen drawers 4 or 5 times in the last 6 weeks.
I was unloading the dishwasher and asked her where she moved the large bowls to. Her response, “with the other large bowls.”
I set down the bowl and am now at the sportsbar watching football.  I sweatergawd I am never moving again.  Assuming I am not divorced when I get home.  FUCK.
And we are back on track. Pos rep my man.

  3. Two More:  Cowboy Junkies Lament by TVZ

Flowered Dresses:  Written by Karen Posten from Austin, but Slaid does the better version.  Her version is kind of happy....his isn't.  Especially the line,

"And I was sitting in the hallway on the night he left
Huggin my knees, holding my breath
I never knew why but he was damn sure gone
Thought it was maybe my fault"

I like Cooper and have no problems with gaga, but is fake twangy modern Nashville produced country music involved? Because I'll need to bring ice picks for me ears.

No.  The 'country' stuff is really good.  Isbell's song is incredible and has a story I've been trying to write for years.  The bad music is when her solo 'pop' career takes off.  Even the country songs that Gaga co-wrote (Shallow is one of them) is actually a well done song.

  5. Saw is yesterday.  I hated Cooper's vocal imitation of Elliott/Kristofferson but his performance was solid.  Really loved GaGa's performance, especially early when she was the 'country' version.  I've never listened to any of her music other that what passes by in the general environment, but she really impressed me.  Plus, she was actually pretty hot in the early part of the movie, until she became the 'pop star."

Loved seeing musicians actually playing in the bands.  I spotted Lukas Nelson, Cory McCormick, Don Was, Victor Indrizzo, Jessie Siedinberg.    And of course Brandi Carlile.

And Andrew Dice Clay and Michael Harney were hilarious.

  6. Johnson did that on purpose after what Van Gorder said after he took over at GA Southern when Johnson went to Navy. Van Gorder said he was going to get football in Statesboro out of the 20th century then ended it with "There is no option".

  7. First time seeing The Decemberists last night at Bass CH. Really, really good show. My wife's a big fan & other friends that have seen them before highly recommend them. Fun night & tight performance. But man the opening act (acoustic duo from Saskatchewan) were trippy odd.
Isn't Kelly Hogan in the band on this tour? I love her.

BTW, after years of me exhorting her to get a job that actually pays something, wife got a job that pays a decent salary... but, wait for it...

...on my campus... kind of... It's at a state agency center, and it's a few blocks off campus.

She keeps asking if I want to drive in with her, go to lunch, etc...

Today, they're offering free flu shots on campus.  I got mine as soon as they opened and texted her to remind her.  She asked if I wanted to meet her to go get flu shots together.

WORLDS ARE COLLIDING.  INDEPENDENT BEAU IS GETTING KILLED.

My office was closed years ago, so I ended up getting a job in the same office as my wife.  When our kids were still at home, we rode separately as we had different work times, but after they left the house, we started riding together.  It was fucking hell.  I don't wish that on anyone.  Thankfully, she retired last year, so I can drive to work in peaceful bliss.

Little advice:  If you are stupid enough to marry someone you work with, one of you needs to change jobs.  Life is too fucking short.

EVERY SINGLE TIME I see that clip, I completely melt when Kelly takes the second verse.  It always surprises me, even though I know it's coming.  Goodness, what a voice.

I get chill bumps every time I hear Kelly's version.    And that is a great section from the Shawn Colvin song.

BTW, I saw Kim Richey at a house concert last weekend.  She is touring with a bass player and guitar dude.  Both have great vocals as well and she has still got it.  Her new record has some great new songs.
