  1. Same bar a couple of weeks ago.  Some drunk and high customer.    He told the bartender he would pick up my tab.  Unbeknownst to him, I had lunch there, had bought several shots at lunch....then had returned for an afternoon session.

I handed Amy my credit card...she pushed it back and said, "Dipshit said put your tab on his."  I gave her $40 and told her if it went to shit, to let me know.  Never heard anything after that.

Anyway, that drunk fucker actually uttered the following.

"Either someone farted or that food smells really good."

  2. Ditto loopers by TC Electronics are inexpensive and simple to use.  Lots of assholes on here have them.  They have several models.  The smallest and cheapest is $100.  Very well built.

  3. This was on Thursday.  Amy, the bartender answers the phone.  I can feel here pain.  After she hangs up, I find out the conversation.

    Caller:  Is today Wednesday?
    Amy:  No, today is Thursday
Caller:  Oh, well the special yesterday was blackened chicken alfredo.  I would like that.
Amy: That was Wednesday's special.  As we discussed earlier, today is Thursday.  Thursday's special is Pot Roast.  Hence, Pot Roast Thursday.  It's a thing.
Caller:  Can you go in to the kitchen and see if they have any of Wednesday's special left over?
    Amy:  No.

    I love Amy.

  4. I've been writing original music for the first time in years. It was kind of tough at first, but once the creative side of your brain wakes up its unreal. It's also helped me learn a ton on my guitars as I get a sound in my head and try to recreate it; or as you come up with something you really like then spend time trying to figure out what comes next, or try to incorporate a bridge that's more interesting than going to the IV.

Sometimes, like the other night, I wrote something on my acoustic knowing in my head it was a crunchy electric part, then get inside and turn it up on the Les Paul and find out I was right. I'm always juggling between my acoustics, electrics, and my bass trying to get the parts and transitions together. Ive got about 3 songs written fairly complete, another 3 with the guitar parts written and maybe a verse or chorus, a SD Card full of riffs and ideas, along with a tablet full of written lines and ideas - including 2 verses I really like but can't find a melody for. It's been pretty rewarding so far, hopefully it's just a beginning.

Current situation, as you know I've had to downsize quite a bit.

What is right behind the LP?
  5. So my son is almost 7 and we are about to get him a queen size bed so that we can use the bedding that my wife bought 3 years ago because “it was just perfect”.

I took the opportunity to have him help me build a headboard for it. We are going with a rustic pallet board style, but with nicer Pine. Everything is cut, sanded, ready to stain and assemble, but guess who can’t decide what color stain to use. I have already stained 10 different samples using 5 different stains letting them sit for various times, and guess who is going back to Home Depot for another stain at lunch? I know it is on me, but I wish I would have just done it without asking her opinion.

Nothing brings out the crazy in a woman like a project for the house.
    Fuck HGTV

I can't even imagine what Vince Gill's guitar collection is worth.  It has to be in the many millions.  That's terrible about the flood . . . oof.  No matter how rich he is, that must have been devastating.

The pictures of all of the guitars lost in that flood are truly devastating.

Fate's Right Hand was such a great album.  I had no idea how many songs he had written that were hits for others - Shame on the Moon by Seger is one of many...Wow.

His story about Johnny Cash is a good one:

"I'm pretty sure I represent the longest list of ex-son-in-laws ever [from] one family on this planet," joked Rodney Crowell. He recalled going down to Johnny and June's second home in Jamaica, back when he thought he was a "world-class bad boy," expecting to share a bed with then-fiancee Rosanne Cash. Although "his social politics were liberal and forgiving," Crowell quickly learned that his future father-in-law had his conservative side, as Cash reacted to the presumed sleeping arrangement by saying, "Son, I don't know you well enough to miss you if you're gone."

He told that story at Johnny Cash's memorial.  Rosanne's eulogy was one of the greatest things I've ever heard.

This is her eulogy.   YouTube won't let me embed it for some reason, but worth the click.

  8. In the memory of Lonestar Man......we shall discuss the brilliance of Sir Rodney Crowell.

He has a new record out called Acoustic Classics.  Stripped down versions of some of his greatest songs.  It will kick you in the nuts....it is that good.

First of all, he should be knighted for writing this song so Buddy Miller and Emmylou could shine.  (fucking youtube won't let me embed  this one for some reason. .....assholes)

But to demonstrate how great of a songwriter he is, Kelly Willis called him up and asked him for some songs.  He sent her a bunch that had never been recorded and she picked this gem.

No one has ever recorded this song....it is an incredibly, well-written song.

Earthbound has always seemed underrated.....and his love for Rosanne Cash never, ever dies.

  9. It is a 'limo' version with three rows of seats.  Put a new wiring harness with brake lights, turn signals, and horn that will soon play Dixie.

I couldn't find any pics of my cart.  Will get some this weekend after I get all of my wife's crap off of it.

  10. Older model my buddy has. We "retrieved it" from a car dealership one night about 5 years ago. Took the motor to Augusta to have it rebuilt. Took the body panels off to have it repainted. Motor back in .... But nothing else. 89a564fc6b4c4bd69226311b2c64d70c.jpg

Wow.  I don't even know what to say about that take with the Everly Brothers.  Your word "sublime" works.  Beautiful.

Check out Chet at 1:24.  He actually LOOKS like Mark Knopfler, like his much older brother or something.

First thought that was Nick Lowe on the bass until I watched the Walk of Life got a better look at him.  Holy shit...that is David Hungate.

Maybe you could ask her boyfriend to let her keep some of that shit at his house. Or at least let her stay longer.

That is my wish.  I think she is going to see our oldest daughter this weekend.  I'm planning a family portrait of all of the different kinds of cooking oil we have.  And I honestly can't tell you the last time she cooked a meal, which makes the constant purchase of spices and cooking oil a bit of a questionable practice.  I blame the fucking Food Network and that shithole HGTV for at least part of this.

  13. Back on track you assholes.

On the plus side, my wife was out of town for 3 glorious weeks. Three fucking weeks and not one hassle.

    Now I'm paying the price.
1-listening to every minute of everything she did while gone
2- a million questions of "what did you do"
3- she comes home with a car load of more "cute antiques". Each, all have plans for future use that shall never materialize.
4-. More spices, teas and olive oils along with a member to the "Olive Oil of the Month " Club. The gift that just keeps on giving. See pic below.

Oh, while gone see texts me asking what the best GPS was. Nevermind she has navigation in her car and on her fucking phone. I don't give a shit about the money.....but why another GPS unit to keep up with. Sure already had one......I have yet to broach the subject on the need for another.

To return to the plus side, she is going out of town again next week. da6840aa6a9a44a802e8df3a8a6261e9.jpg
