Took in Kenny Chesney last night at ATT Stadium. The show itself was great. Less of his older straight country and more of his “beach pirate” stuff, which I’m not afraid to admit I dig. But the Deathstar continues to be a terrible venue. Acoustics were awful.

No wonder the sound was bad.  Guitar tech forgot to plug his Les Paul in.

Ken Bethea (Old 97's) had an alarming number of badass guitars, in particular a Gretsch Sparklejet and a Gretsch Tennessee Rose. But for all my G&L peeps, here's a photo I took when he was using an ASAT.

I've never seen him play that G&L.  This last tour was the first time I've missed an Old 97s show in Atlanta.  Ever.  Still not over it.  He has had that Matchless for a long time.  My favorite guitar of his is that black hopped up tele with the flames behind the bridge.  Love to know what pickups he has it that monster.  Only guitar I've heard close to that is the lead guitarist from Turnpike Troubadours.    Philip kicks ASS on this version.

Ok, that is a STUPID deal, especially since it's the newest one with all the bells and whistles. I'm happy with my Ego Compressor, but shit maybe I need two compressors.

Edit: They gone. You gotta move fast on crazy deals like that I guess.

That sucks.  I bought a B stock from them a few years ago and I never found a blemish on it.  I love that pedal and it really loves my tele.  Gives it that great 'quack'.  On humbuckers it really helps with the sustain.

Some interesting behavior after Tata pulled him on Saturday.   Tata seems to be getting fed up with some of his actions.  Almiron had a fantastic match against Chicago.  Wed against KC should be a great one.

  5. I played a J-45 Custom on Litig8r back porch about a year ago.  LOVED that thing.   I'm still battling over my next acoustic guitar purchase.  Always wanted a J45 because of Peter Case mainly, but that Martin low-end is hard to beat.

  6. Anyone have thoughts on the movie?  Finally watched it last night.  Very predictable, but Ed Harris was fantastic and Elizabeth Olsen...yummy.  She reminds me of Annette Benning when she was that age...not only her looks but her character.  Really like her timing.  Especially during one argument between father and son and she said, "You boys better pace yourself."

Damn, Mendelsshon must've really hated the mud, dead last by 73 links. Fortunately I put 50 bucks on Justify to win a minute before the race started. Front runners that break from the inside and stay out of the mud is usually good play. Justify didn't even have a speck of mud on his face while all  the rest of the ponys where covered from head to toe.

It is damn tough for horses from overseas to win the Derby.  Especially as much as that horse spent in travel status over the past few months.  That flight after Dubai takes a lot out of them.   I left him completely out of all of my picks.  I had a Justify on a wheel with Audible, Bolt D'oro and Vino and added a flyer on the D. Wayne Lucas' horse (Bravaso) since my dad used to work with him in his early years.  Oh well.

Found this Strat on Facebook Marketplace - a 2011 American Strat for $725. The seller says he wants to sell because deep down he's a Tele guy.

I'm debating whether to offer him a straight-up trade. His Strat for my 1983 all-black Tele. I want need a guitar with a whammy bar, and black-on-black is my preferred color (think David Gilmour)

I've had my Tele for 20 years. Despite some dings on the body and 2 strings that I can't seem to properly intonate, it has been the one constant in my guitar repertoire. I've bought and sold several other guitars over the years, but the '83 has been the one I can't seem to let go. Over the years, I've put in new pickups, pots, a 4-way switch, new knobs. It's sounds great, but it just doesn't have a whammy.

I figured my recently purchased Edwards LP can do the work of my Tele. What say you guys?

Before you trade that Tele or sell it...and if you really think you have to get rid of the Tele for the Strat, I will buy the Tele from you.  You name the price...then in a year, when you start regretting it, I will sell it back to you for what you sell it to me for.  I'm completely honest about that.  You have too much time and love invested in that gorgeous Tele.

  9. Huge Pete fan but his last record bored me to tears. Saw him about 3 months ago and was a great show.

Have a friend that I buy tickets for every year. Love this pic of them....Yorn all dorked up.

I loved the Duet record. That thing was held off the market for two years before it was released. I was done well before the She and Him thing with Deschannel and M. Ward, but came out after.

His love from New Jersey record is fantastic. Can't wait for the new one.

  10. Saw Blocked today at the theater. Actually funnier than I thought it would be, bit I love Leslie Mann. And the girl who played John Cena's daughter was really good as well.

Wasn't as good as the Rotten Tom rating but I enjoyed it for what it was. And I love Leslie Mann. Did I mention I love Leslie Mann?

I had a Valvetronix amp like that. It's a really good practice amp, but I didn't need it after I got a Super Champ and I needed the space. It also has a knob in the back to turn down the wattage for playing at low volumes.

Guitar is sweet. Where he at?
He is in Atlanta. Guitar has rarely been played. Also, I'm getting the info on exactly which amp that is.

  12. $350 for G&L ASAT Deluxe carved top and this little Vox modeling amp. Buzzrock can vouch for quality of this guitar because I had both of them at my house at one time.

Prob a $450 guitar and $150 amp. Rarely played. Dude is selling his stuff, his house, buying an RV and touring the country.

PM if interested. This is a great deal.
