Showers/T'Storms forecast for the weekend.   Possibly not enough for cancellation with the most questionable day being Sunday.    Hope the weather does not affect the attendance so the Seniors can be given well deserved recognition on Senior Day.   They were key participants in elevating this program.

Citlaly will likely start today with Czech ready to go. If Czech is not needed today, perhaps we go Morgan/Czech or Czech/Morgan tomorrow. Here’s hoping we have a huge lead and Sophia gets some work today, saving Czech and Morgan for Sunday

    2pm ESPN+

Let's hope Citilaly has a strong performance.    She and TK haven't been their sharpest as of late.

I thought TK may be tiring as she has thrown 82 IP (most, Mac 63, Citilaly 60) but checking her bio she threw 128 IP in '22 Spring/Summer travel ball circuit.

  3. Looking at the Kansas stats,  Ludwig (starting today) is a soph starting her first game this year with only 8 IP, 5.88era.    Their aces are Hamilton and Brooks who have started 38 of their 42 games.    Perhaps injury or McFalls is gambling on game 1 or knows something we don't.

Kaitlyn Slack is now Kaitlyn Chiles.

this seems like a case of the athletics dept just praying the rain isnt that bad or that lightning-y

Not sure if current,  but before they consulted with the pros at the National Weather Service.

Kansas State's springtime New England baseball tour is interesting.

Hughes is from that area and I think they have 3 or 4 players on the roster from the area.    I read that aggy also recruits NE looking for the superstar Ivy Leaguer.

From the stands it looked like he had some decent stuff. He certainly didn’t look too bad compared to all the guys we sent in after him. Was he touching 90 with his FB?

Twenty-four of his 39 pitches were strikes. When it came to velocity, none of his' pitches hit 90 miles per hour on the radar gun. He mostly sat in the 80s, and dipped into the high 70s a few times.

  7. Sounds like the JT pitching experiment will continue.    Second link is another game article.   Pierce is well protected by the AAS, LHN, and Radio Broadcast.  LHN "Game Plan With David Pierce" is scheduled at 7PM tonight if interested.

"I'm trying to win. The reason why is because I think he's a kid that can help us just like Cade, just like (Whitehead)," Pierce said after the UTRGV game. "At the end of the day, we're trying to win baseball games and I'm not going to sit and watch the same stuff happen without trying to explore all of our different options. I really think JT's an option."

"JT is a good pitcher, I'm telling you," Pierce said. "It wasn't perfect, but we've got a lot of baseball to play after that. I'd much rather have done it tonight to start versus his first time in a leverage situation. He has toughness, he has grit and he'll figure things out."

  8. Watched aggy beat Alabama tonight winning the series.  3rd in SEC, #10RPI,  remaining series vs Ole Miss and @ Florida.     So they will likely host,  could be in discussion for a top 8 seed should they win the Florida series and win or make finals of SEC tournament.   Regardless,  we may again be paired with them in the postseason.

Last year media projections began around the 3rd week of April.

    Selection show: May 12 at 7 p.m. ET | ESPN2

    • Regionals: May 16/17-19
    • Super Regionals: May 23-25 or May 24-26
    • Women's College World Series: May 30-June 6/7 in Oklahoma City

  9. Excerpts from the Statesman.   Grubbs Friday,  Ace Sat, Sun TBA

Pierce said that Texas will shake up its pitching rotation this weekend. Max Grubbs will be UT's Friday starter and Ace Whitehead will remain in his Saturday slot. Pierce has not yet revealed who will pitch on Sunday

Texas used Johnson in relief during a game at Texas State on Tuesday. He allowed four hits and a run over two innings.

"One of the reasons why we threw him yesterday is just to get him back out there, build some confidence, pounding the strike zone and building off of that," Pierce said. "That's just where we are right now"

Pierce has traditionally not been a coach who likes to hold team meetings following wins or losses. But the Longhorns quickly retreated to the locker room after the final out on Wednesday was recorded. After he eventually emerged from meeting with his team to speak with reporters, Pierce said "we've just got to play better. It starts with me."

The fact they are resuming at 6 and keeping the second game at 7 means you probably can't just have your game 2 starter finish game 1 because he could end up sitting in the dugout for 50 minutes between games.

True.   They are keeping game 2 at 7 due to LHN telecasting the Texas/Texas St softball game which begins at 4:30.

  11. Time to start noticing UCF.   They beat KSt today for their 4th consecutive conference series win after being swept by OU to begin conference play.   21-8 overall, 8-7 in conference.  #6 RPI, only B12 school in top 25 (25).

Currently watching OkSt/OU (7-5 OKSt after 7).   Like watching a CWS game with the crowd.   They had 8K Friday and likely as many today.   They need to continue that series.

KXAN videos can't be embedded but article has a short Pierce interview.

"evaluate" "Players upset,  but don't always take it the way we do"  "students"  can't continue to beat it up,  makes it tougher"  "Grubbs did not have put away slider"

Would be nice to see complete interview.   Media does not do a good job with baseball and softball.   Perhaps more coverage on the paysites.

  13. If not aware,   Florida is hosting LSU at 5PM (CT) scheduled on ESPN before our 7PM game.   Meaning the broadcast will likely start on the ESPN App.   Per the schedule,  ESPN2 and ESPN News have college baseball.     Pray for a no hitter in Gainesville.   Weather is good.

Edit:   ESPN+ shows a simultaneous broadcast with ESPN

The post directly above #2760.  My bad,  thought I recalled you posting Statesman articles.
