  1. "difficulty" could have been describing the visual conditions and perhaps them circling to wait for the fog to lift/airspace too clear. Think given the flight data points and the eyewitness accounts of an in-trouble aircraft, it's fairly clear that they clipped something and that's what took down the 'copter.
  2. So the idea of a 16 mile hike doesn't necessarily strike fear into my bones. What I'm worried about is not being able to take in the scenery if we try and do both the long ones in the same day. Are they really 7 hour hikes, or is that for the slower-paced group?
  3. Oh, and one of you apply for the Ink card first and then send the other a referral link. That'll get you a bonus 10k.
  4. Chase Ink Preferred for each of you gets you kicked off with 160K points you can transfer between accounts. One of you will apply with the business EIN and the other will make up a business and use their social. Google how to open a business account without a business so you don't trip over your own dick in the process. Give it a month or so and then get the Sapphire Preferred. That'll get you another 50k. I'd suggest she do the same, but separately. Don't make the other partner an authorized user. That'll get you started. Basically, you want your first 5 cards to all be in the Chase family. After that, it's all fair game.
  5. ATN Thor 4 is where I think I'm leaning. 18 hour onboard battery and the stream to devices is what's swaying my thoughts on that one. That and I can't afford an XP-series Pulsar.
  6. Taking my first trip out to BB. Heading out of Austin at 3am and staying at the Terlingua Ranch Lodge. Considering doing both of the longer trails; one tomorrow and one on Saturday. That feel like it'd be too much? Should I do one prior to the other?
  7. Same situation with my player 2. Had her send Chase a sweet secure message asking if they'd match the 75k offer. They gladly agreed for an additional spend of 5k in 6 months.
  8. Got the high-roller suite at the Rio for a conference this week. Can't beat this:
  9. I was previously all over the Marriott/SPG program and had a couple of the SPG cards, so I'm fairly familiar with how those redemption points got nerfed. Hyatt would likely be my preferred choice, but their points are a little harder to come by and properties are more limited than the other options. Guess I really should have asked what the rewards programs looked like between Marriott and Hilton at this point.
  10. Which hotel points should I start chasing if starting from scratch? Upcoming trips being NOLA, Cabo, Bahamas and a Pacific NW visit. Pending companion pass will open up a few more trips as well. Can't decide which route I want to go down to start earning some status.
  11. Got a little bit of a unique situation here that I need to figure out sooner than later. Date for my sister’s Cabo wedding in March is in the middle of an annulment. She’s out of touch with the specifics of when this is getting settled and would apparently be $1300 to check on the status of the situation. She’s being told it’s supposed to be settled in the next couple of weeks. She does not have a passport and it’s kind of getting to nut cutting time with the booking. Is she good to apply for a PP if there’s a solid chance she’ll be going back to her maiden name when this is wiped out?
  12. Christmas bonus has arrived. Why should I not buy this: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Pulsar-Xq50-Thermal-Night-Vision-Rifle-Scope-W-mount-Handled-NOT-USED/223798272090?_trkparms=aid%3D111001%26algo%3DREC.SEED%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20160908105057%26meid%3D52a132ba89804e4db0fcd4ee2113cae7%26pid%3D100675%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D14%26sd%3D223798272090%26itm%3D223798272090%26pmt%3D0%26noa%3D1%26pg%3D2380057&_trksid=p2380057.c100675.m4236&_trkparms=pageci%3Ace578fbd-2367-11ea-a1d0-74dbd180041a%7Cparentrq%3A2502bbea16f0ad3c58d569feff9f961c%7Ciid%3A1
  13. OK, about to pull the trigger on my first NV scope. Figured I'd save some cash going NV over Thermal initially, especially since most of my hunting is going to be done with pretty significant brush (which I'd assume limits what you're seeing with a thermal). Down to a few options here and wanted to get pushed in the right direction: - ATN 4k - ton of really bad reviews on reliability/freezing issues - $630 - Sightmark Wraith HD - decent reviews - $500 - Sightmark Photon RT - the deal listed above. Still have one available that I could get a family member to pick up in San Antonio - $300
  14. Super helpful guys. Appreciate it. Think I'm on the right path now towards getting something I won't immediately be wanting to upgrade for range/knockdown power/etc. I'm sure there's a thousand articles out there, but what's the main reason for Creedmor > Grendel? Range?
  15. Well fuck. Now I'm completely turned around and feel like I need a hand-holder to get this setup figured out correctly. Would prefer to go with the LaRue upper kit - which appears to be $1341 for the CM 6.5. It's saying that the "receiver fits the larue m110 lower" -- when I go to choose the lower, it's asking if the Caliber is 5.56 or 7.62. Do I fall into either of those? Also, if that lower assembly is $200, wouldn't you keep it all the same product rather than saving a hundred bucks or so? Looks like the best deal I could find on a full 6.5 CM would be this one: https://gun.deals/product/savage-msr-10-hunter-65-creedmoor-18-20-rd-109699
  16. Appreciate all the replies guys. Is there one that you see that you'd recommend from PSA? Seems counter productive to have a $900 upper and a $49 lower kit. Also, appears they build that MBT into the upper kit if I'm reading this correctly: https://imgur.com/YyKrulQ Also, I'm guessing I haven't posted an image since we came over from the old site.
  17. Looking to get a semi-auto hog hunting setup going and have been doing a little shopping. Am I missing something, or is there a steep discount when you purchase an AR upper and lower separately? For the 6.5 setup I'm looking at from LaRue it would seem that purchasing them separately and then assembling saves me almost a grand.
  18. Nike's still trying to lock that down. Figured they'd just throw all of them into the mix.
  19. Kills me that they've gone away from the '47 brand of gear. For all the dumb shit suggestions CDC has to field on Twitter, that's one of the multiple entries I'd wish he'd address.
  20. https://www.universitycoop.com/Peter-Millar-Longhorns-Gingham-Printed-Polo Silly expensive for a polo, but my favorite new shirt.
  21. So pissed we didn't make this. We were like 3 blocks away at the closest and I couldn't sway the crowd to go meet a bunch of message board guys.
