  1. Ukraine hits Russian territory with ATACMS for the first time, - source https://www.rbc.ua/ukr/news/ukrayina-vpershe-vdarila-atacms-teritoriyi-1732007549.html In Bryansk Oblast, so the reporting was wrong about it being limited to Kursk. According to Bloomberg (KYHorn: original reporting is in the link above), Ukrainian forces conducted the first ATACMS strike against positions inside Russia. Bloomberg claims that the "western part" of the Bryansk region was struck last night, but I assume that it was in fact Karachev with its 67th GRAU arsenal, which is in the east of that province. I reported regarding this in the morning. This confirms also my suspicions I had when the news made its round that ATACMS could be only used in Kursk. This was likely a decoy message.
  2. It's fairly well known that Jake Sullivan has been the consistent drag on allowing Ukraine to actually win this.
  3. If it's a nice fall weekend, I cannot recommend enough that y'all take some time for outdoor activities. Mammoth Cave and the Red River Gorge (truly great hikes and world class rock climbing) should be top of the list.
  4. ATACMS was only authorized for use in the Kursk area, where North Korean troops have been deployed, - Axios The motivation behind the decision was to deter North Korea from sending more troops to Russia for the war against Ukraine. U.S. officials hope that if North Koreans troops in Kursk are hit, Pyongyang might review its decision to send troops to Russia and the Russian counterattack in Kursk will fail.
  5. Lexington was the hq of the IBM printing division. This was spun off into Lexmark, which is still a major employer in Lexington.
  6. Hey man, it was a little chilly yesterday. This. I've been offered tickets to the rest of the games by both neighbors. We already have them and aren't using them. UK fans are done with football.
  7. Important caveat that I'm reading: the allowance may only be extended to all of Kursk! This is not carte blanche and would not include the Kerch bridge or most of the orange on that map. The reporting is not entirely clear though. There are reports that France and the UK are also lifting restrictions, and those may be more expansive. https://www.nytimes.com/2024/11/17/us/politics/biden-ukraine-russia-atacms-missiles.html Biden Allows Ukraine to Strike Russia With Long-Range U.S. Missiles With two months left in office, the president for the first time authorized the Ukrainian military to use the system known as ATACMS to help defend its forces in the Kursk region of Russia.
  8. So attacking the energy infrastructure was the red line...? Would've been nice to have it 24 hours ago, or 24 months ago
  9. Imagine your country is exposed to this level of terror. You wouldn’t negotiate with the terrorists from this neighboring country. You would fight back. Freedom is not negotiable. Freedom is not for free. And you are just curtailing your own freedom if you expect any other country should accept this.
  10. Today, starting at 14:30, the 🇷🇺Russian occupiers attempted to break through our defenses in the Kupyansk direction. Part of the Russian infantry was disguised in the uniform of the Armed Forces of Ukraine - General Staff of 🇺🇦Ukraine The enemy assault groups attacked the positions of the Ukrainian defenders in four waves. During the attack, the enemy used about 15 units of equipment: tanks, armored combat vehicles and UR-77 "Zmey Gorynych". All enemy equipment was destroyed, the enemy infantry was partially eliminated and dispersed.
  11. This is an extraordinary report. The ‘Deathonomics’ Powering Russia’s War Machine Payments for soldiers killed on the front lines are transforming local economies in some of Russia’s poorest regions https://www.wsj.com/world/russia/russia-ukraine-war-military-death-pay-6cfe936e Bypass pay wall: https://archive.is/6hPdu Some highlights:
  12. "There are all ours lying there" Russian servicemen are filming the aftermath of the "meat assault" and are surprised why no one is collecting the corpses. At the same time, they obediently go to where exactly the same fate awaits them. But in the end, they are already advising their friends not to go to war.
  13. Nomination for CIA director as it relates to this thread Secretary of Defense as it relates to this thread. Can't find much of him talking about Ukraine but what I can find is along these lines. However, he generally seems to be a hawk so we'll see.
  14. Also doesn't count emigration
  15. Really a smartly tailored proposal. I could see it appealing to Trump Ukraine ready to share resources & replace some US troops in Europe post-war — part of a strategy to gain Trump's support, per FT. During a meeting with Zelensky in September, two special proposals were presented to President-elect Trump. One plan involves deploying Ukrainian troops in Europe after the war, easing the US military presence, and sharing resources with Western allies.
  16. Definitely. I almost added that this is like shadow mobilization
  17. The Russians have blown up yet another dam, one that was crucial for cooling the Kurakhove TPP. History is repeating itself because Russia has faced no consequences. In fact, it was emboldened by a person who recently received power. This act of ecocide is intended to make conditions unlivable. Villages are flooding. The river lies between the Donetsk and Dnipro regions.
  18. The Russian government plans to lay off at least 400,000. Moscow, Russia — The Russian government is preparing for one of the most significant reductions in its civil service workforce to date. By July 1, 2025, the government will see a 10% decrease in staff, according to information obtained by Kommersant. While the 10% figure is cited as a target, the actual cuts could be even larger. In total, more than 400,000 jobs are expected to be affected, amounting to over 0.5% of the nation's workforce. The bottom line: the money has run out.
  19. And Trump campaign declined to comment... So true?
