  1. Again, you seem to be answering your own question. From a societal standpoint, is it better to support a system that affects 10 percent of the general population at the expense of 90%? Medical outcomes in the countries where doctors lack the "prestige" and considerable wealth of doctors here are better. It's almost as if we've set up our society to benefit the monied minority at the expense of the rest of the population....
  2. KitchenAid mixers have had a significant drop off in quality over the last few decades, but they're still better than most others. If you're wanting to use it primarily for kneading dough, you should look at Ankarsrum. https://amybakesbread.com/best-stand-mixer-kitchenaid-bosch-and-ankarsrum-review/
  3. Seems to me we shouldn't be building or supporting a system that excels at the extreme margins rather provides better outcomes more efficiently to the vast majority of the public.
  4. Avatar checks out. Also,
  5. Sam Darnold's hitting that. (Or at least was)
  6. Went to Goodwin's for DDD's birthday earlier this year. Food was excellent albeit pricey and was a lot of fun. Ended up in the speakeasy bar in the back after dinner for cocktails and dessert.

Only been to HH once, for lunch. Was not impressed and thought the pricing was outrageous. But, it seems like it's always packed so what do I know?
  8. I lived in Palm Court back in the 80’s so…close to home.
  9. I know Brian Griese, so, you know, this hits close to home.
  10. As Anglophiles, @Ghost of LL and I prefer "Happy Christmas."
  11. Not true. We've all seen the nudes you post.
  12. Some of us socialize with those whose faiths differ from ours. I'm Episcopalian. However, half of my family is Jewish, as are several of my close friends and colleagues. Imposing "Merry Christmas" on someone who I know to be of another faith is not being evangelical. It is being rude and insensitive, and it reflects a view their faith is not worthy of recognition. But that's just me.
  13. CBD sublingual drops can help with focus too. However, I once made the mistake of playing after using some I'd bought on a trip to Bandon that had THC. By the fifth hole I had such an internal monologue going I couldn't stand over a putt without telling myself to shut up.
  14. Yeah, if you listen to the interview he goes over that as well as the SCOTUS decisions eroding separation of church and state.
  15. This fucking guy.
  16. The interview is worth a listen. I don't suspect there's anything in it you didn't already know or suspect, but hearing confirmation from someone who's devoted decades to researching the whole thing was quite interesting. Also, he started out as a proponent for vouchers, but over time seeing the results (and then the subsequent bastardization of the process through expansion of programs to support more and more private schools) led him to become a vocal opponent. From a promotion for a recent talk he gave at Princeton:
