    USMNT 2023

Count me as one who would be very disappointed in a Leeds move for WM. If Juventus weren't in the toilet and this was going down, I think we'd all be pretty perplexed he was going to a relegation candidate. I'd much rather him go to Tottenham or Arsenal if those rumors are true.
  2. That drive hurt but putting much blame on the defense, outside of Diggs for being soft, is pretty off IMO. Even including that drive, the defense gave up 3.5 yards per carry to a very good running team. Bottom line in this game is their QB outplayed our QB. That's it.

Wow that seems like a pretty big deal. Berhalter can't be far behind, right? Right?!

I just don't see how any of the teammates will trust him at this point. Maybe a two-year break will do the trick, but the stench of the Reynas definitely needs to wear off before he comes back. This is incredibly petty.

Man...I was a big fan of Reyna's game (son and coach), but I don't see how you have them anywhere near the program after this. They are absolutely toxic.

It’s very strange we have heard zero reports about who is coaching us next cycle. The longer it goes, that can’t be good for Berhalter, right? Seems like if they were sticking with him they would have announced something by now.
  7. I’m not saying he’s a good or bad player. He’s an expiring deal at this point. Not sure what type of value you’re going to get for that. Doesn’t make much sense to move him.

So frustrating to see Bellingham have a breakout tournament and Gio got like 45 minutes total.
  9. We wore ourselves out due to both depth but also not properly subbing. Outside of Gio and Aaronson, would have actually preferred to see Scally and Yedlin get more time to spell our exhausted outside backs. But this also goes back to not winning against Wales. If you win that first game, you have a lot more options to rotate the squad in the following games. This has been an issue we've constantly dealt with. We have to give everything to make it out of the group and have nothing left in the tank.

A candidate I would love to coach us is the guy who just played us to perfection. Van Gaal would be amazing compared to Greg.

I’m saying they are the closest example of a team that wasn’t among the favorites and made a deep run, though you could also add Croatia to that.

The latter. When is the last time someone snuck up and won a World Cup? Only team I can think of that came close to that is France in 2006.
  13. It's almost like letting your 2nd best player walk for nothing is bad roster building... Then you combine that with a horrendous contract for McGee and you have what you have.
  14. We were always going to need to win the Iran game after we didn’t beat Wales. Now Wales isn’t going to catch us if we keep the England game close and beat Iran.
  15. Were people really hoping we were going to advance without a win? I love going into the 3rd game knowing a win gets us in. Hell, we can afford a 2 goal loss to England at this point.
  16. All things tactical aside, if we could just get some decent set pieces that would go a long way. It would be nice to steal a cheap one.

I’m not sure I agree re: Weah. At this point, you need your best players on the field, even if it’s for the 2nd half. I’d much rather have Gio on the field the Ferreira. Keeping Weah on the shoulder of their slow center backs is a matchup I like.

Listening to Jimmy Conrad’s podcast and they have aaronson in for Mckinnie. He would be in front of a dual 6 of Adams and Musah. Also have Weah at the 9 and Gio in his place on the wing. I think that’s spot on. Enough dedicated defenders but Musah can still dribble out to relieve pressure. Aaronson can press like he’s known for and you actually have a better chance to counter them.

Assuming we can keep the game close with England (not sure that should be an assumption at this point), the result of the Wales-Iran game is going to be the most crucial match. If Wales wins by more than a goal, I think we're going to have a major uphill battle on Tuesday. Essentially you could be down 3 points and 3 goals on goal differential.
  20. Said the same thing in real time. Didn’t understand what the upside was for trying to go through him there. He was going to have to dribble out or pass back.
