  1. That kid has hit 200 playable grounders to SS this year. Fix him or trade him.
  2. People thought I was joking months ago when I said the team should stay in a hotel near MMP.
  3. We're going to be livid with Dusterino no matter how the rest of the year goes. So...let's kick some tail from here on out. For the players, for the city...and for ourselves.
  4. Dr. Emil Schaffhausen could have done as much good.
  5. We're all hopeful. But I must admit I've nearly forgotten what it's like to get pitching, hitting and defense all in the same game.
  6. Herman destroys Bama, despite knowing he must sacrifice himself in the process. That, my friends, is playing the Mensa long game.
  7. Maybe Hyde's trying to pattern his strategy after the master of bad ideas. "What Would Dusty Do?"
  8. Ha. He's one of the reasons we're still (barely) above water.
  9. Hard to overstate the importance of winning this one. Just do it.
  10. If we replaced half of our roster with players drawn out of a hat I'm not sure I'd call it a setback.
  11. If Uncle Mike can't swing the bat here, he must have left the park already.
  12. Can't wait until we add some offense by calling up Gilbert and Clifford. 😝
  13. In case you've ever wondered how it felt to be fans of our 2022 postseason opponents...now you know.
  14. Our lineup is more than capable of making it happen.
  15. Colt and Sam both are having better pro careers than Connor likely will. For that matter, I'm not sure he'll out-achieve Buechele or Gilbert.
  16. I somewhat do. But then, I'm enough of a minimalist to think we shouldn't even include the word "thread" in thread titles.
  17. No matter what his numbers suggest this year, in key situations Alvarez has largely proved mortal after all. Has he pulled his weight statistically? For sure. But has he spun the magic he did in crunch time last fall? Not so much. That's really not blasting the guy, just bringing into focus how epic his bombs against Seattle and Philly were. You can't wait for more of those to bail your club out of tight spots. This tailspin has been pretty much a team effort, and it will take a bunch of folks — Yordan included — to turn that around.
  18. I wish they'd let us win a lot more often. Seriously, as lousy as our offense has been for long stretches this year, of late our pitching has been an even bigger culprit. We've had a ton of uncharacteristic meltdowns on the mound. Overuse, injury, bad luck, poor coaching/managing...whatever's been going on, it's clearly not the mark of a contender. And in many cases our shoddy defense has thrown gas on the fire. Somebody will win the division. That team might then win the WS. Hopefully that's us. But unless our guys unwedge their heads soon, they're about to go fishing. That's the reality of it.
  19. Don't know how many of you will agree with me on this, but here's my take: We're not very good.
  20. If they want to an aggy leader who's actually done something down there on the Brazos, they should hire Joe Boyd. He was team captain when they won their last "natty." But maybe it's problematic that he died...14 years ago...at the age of 92.
  21. Run Neris out there instead of Montero and I don't think Pressly would have blown it in the 9th. Couldn't understand it then and certainly not now.
