  1. What are the qualifications for being named a team captain these days? Apparently lower than I'd thought. I guess Bama's D giving up nearly 70 points in six quarters "forced" Moore to show his displeasure with an extended tantrum. Dennis Rodman would be proud.
  2. I love how aggy extolls the culture and refinement of their own wretched backwater in comparison to Baton Rouge. Murder rates? Chain restaurants? Traffic? T-shirt fans? Fall baseball attendance? It's all here. The aristocrats have spoken.
  3. The good ones make it look easy. The great ones make it look like everyone else should change sports.
  4. Pulling for JWhitt to win this for the Rams. He's had a good day so far.
  5. Total thrashing. Nice service work by Averi. Now that single dropped set in SEC play is starting to annoy me. 😝
  6. On a neutral field, any other team in the current top 8 would beat Miami at least 6 times in 10 tries. That house of cards is coming down.
  7. Sooner or later. For now they're still awaiting the arrival of this thing called electricity.
  8. That kid is college football's easy MVP of the week. I don't care what anyone else does.
  9. We all know if it comes down to a Hail Mary, it's at worst a coin flip that Williams will score. Vandy knows that, too. So I expect at least one more Pavia pass. Everyone stay in bounds, and both hands on the ball.
  10. Cook reminds me of Case McCoy. But with way less moxie.
  11. Sark will come up with some plays to put "The Blanket" in "The Body Bag."
  12. McNeese put up more resistance than this.
  13. They miss Leon's speed.
  14. If his last name were Smith, he'd be just as bad as he is now.
  15. Oh, I remember. He was really good that fall. I'm just trying to project how he's likely to perform in postseasons to come. That's obviously conjecture, but his random hiccups in big moments since '22 have given me pause. So I wouldn't mind trading him between now and the '25 deadline and seeing what he'd fetch. Unlike Valdez, Brown still has a lot of room to grow and already is TOR quality.
  16. Then again, if the player's name were Deion Sanchez, he'd claim the kid is the best ever.
  17. I actually agree with all the above. That's why I said the current situation reminds me "a bit" of 2005. It's absolutely not an exact overlay — more a reference to this being a time of key decisions that will dictate where we find ourselves a few years out. Most franchises could say that at any time, I guess, but to me it's critical that we gain several solid pieces via trade AND free agency. As much as I love Framber, I trust him little more in October than I did JV. As for Tucker, just get all you can, when you can.
  18. Might seem crazy, but right now reminds me a little of where we were after losing the World Series in 2005. We were so weak offensively then that I was begging for an immediate teardown to hasten the rebuild. Of course, McLane didn't want to do anything that bold. So we quickly sank into the abyss and stayed there for many years. I think our current roster is a bit younger than that one, and we of course have far more nice banners flying. But we're also at a crossroads. None of us wants to keep making the playoffs just to make them. We have to add firepower and shore up a leaky defense.
  19. This native Texan has been in the Atlanta area for 40 years now and has seen some curious things out of the city's pro sports franchises, but none more than the Falcons. No matter how much talent they've had at various times, they've done remarkably little with it. So I'm hardly shocked that they haven't figured out how to use Bijan. When the Falcons drafted him, I posted that I wasn't sure he'd ever have a 40-yard TD run but that I expected him to log multiple TD receptions of 50 or better. I still think that's what would happen with the right scheme and game planning. Get him in space and he's a totally different guy than the one now having to struggle to find creases inside. Not that he can't run "between the tackles," but that's hardly the best use of his considerable gifts. Well-designed screens and wheel routes are made for him.
  20. I'd rather lose the way we did than the way Milwaukee did. Especially if it were against the Mets. Not that I'm still bitter about 1986.
  21. I never understood why we didn't go after Profar last winter. He signed for peanuts, relative to his level of play. Maybe there was some other factor involved, but that looks like some of the best money any team spent leading into 2024.
