  1. If Carlton's shooting matched her confidence, she'd be off the charts. But she's giving us some decent minutes. In other news, this foul situation is annoying.
  2. Several times Bert Auburn's choking impeded my breathing.
  3. When you're that overmatched against normal competition and then face the nation's #1/2 squad, somehow scratching out a double and a run is bragging material. Put it on the wall.
  4. If breathing on anyone in purple isn't a foul tonight, I really like our chances. But even with Johnson out, we know a Mulkey team with a big like Morrow won't go quietly. Need a much stronger start than the last time we faced them.
  5. The gallant zebras tried their best to defend the league's inner sanctum from the ruthless invaders, but the savage hordes finally breached the walls. I'm sure more striped reinforcements have been summoned for tomorrow's clash.
  6. I no longer know what's a charge and what isn't.
  7. Wouldn't mind Preston's length out there for a minute or two.
  8. Georgia Amoore should never pass.
  9. Barker's a fine player. Feel bad for her in a losing effort, but at no point in that game did the Tide seize control against a poor Florida squad. LSU gets an undeserved gift.
  10. I'll never not enjoy watching Tennessee lose. Especially when it gives us another chance to watch Blakes deal. She didn't quite lead the league in scoring, but she's simply on another level as an offensive threat.
  11. Our RBS, WRs and DBs aren't competing. Seriously, it's ironic how we're now the speed school in football but not in track.
  12. My mistake on who was retiring. Agree it was stupid, whether winning or losing.
  13. So Destiney McPhaul of MSST (solid guard) hurts her leg against Mizzou. With a minute left in the game. Up by 20. One might ask why. No wonder their HC is retiring.
  14. Izzy Higginbottom also has entered the chat.
  15. On an SEC board (forget which one) I casually mentioned Texas fans are fine with losing the coin flip and being on LSU's side of the bracket. That triggered some bayou knuckledragger into replying that Texas isn't a "real" SEC school and that because the school was "founded by Klansmen," every fan of the Longhorns is a "racist." Tiger fans really are among the worst, even by SEC standards.
  16. Most of my kin are scattered around that country. Silsbee, Devers, Raywood, etc. My maternal grandparents lived in Nome. Pop was a Cajun rice farmer (fields between there and Winnie) who preferred coveralls to overalls. Fewer openings for skeeters the size of B-52s.
  17. Win or lose, this is a masterclass in gagging.
  18. I'd fine Johnson $500 of NIL for every pass he makes in OT.
  19. Larry isn't an SEC point. He just isn't. Small, slow of foot and slow of mind is a recipe for trouble.
  20. I keep waiting for this team to do something — ANYthing — well several times in a row. It just doesn't happen. And that makes for some long, maddening stretches of almost unwatchable ball. Sigh.
  21. Shocked here, too. I suspect Booker herself would say she had a pretty mortal year in conference. Hard to imagine going 3-19 or whatever against SCar in front of the world and then playing well enough overall to earn that award. But more power to her for doing it. Her value clearly goes far beyond scoring.
  22. First World "problem" right there. I mean, Gehrig behind Ruth worked out OK. Stewie does lose some RBI opportunities being right behind another slugger, but nobody's to complain about that. Overall she's in an extremely good situation. Reese has cleared the bases 7 times but has 15 other hits and 18 free passes (4 of those via HBP). I'm not sure how often Reese might also have reached base on errors. Anyway, it's all been adding up to a lot of chances for Stewie to drive in multiple runs, and she's certainly been coming through. May it continue as the real games begin.
  23. Not that I'm going to predict it, but Stewie is physically quite capable of breaking 58 as well. Where either player ends up her career obviously is highly dependent on health, but protection in the lineup also matters. While Reese has benefited a bit more from that than Stewie has, if Goode and others can keep hitting well, both sluggers could reach big HR numbers these next two years. I'm also interested in where they end up in career RBIs. Having a relatively short softball history with a woeful lack of hitting for many of those years, Texas has no players anywhere near the top of the national RBI records. As best, I can tell, Reese figures to become our first member of the 200 RBI club. And unless we have an unexpected dropoff in recruiting elite bats, Stewie might even eclipse her. @Js1, do you know where to find Texas career stats? All I've located so far is a hodgepodge of random numbers, mostly for single seasons.
  24. Seeing Osborne go elsewhere wouldn't bother me as much now as it would have three months ago. He's a great 3-down back, but we're in on several others of similar value. Atkinson, though, seems closer to a unicorn. So while this obviously isn't a one-or-the-other situation, I'm happier about our standing with the LB than I am bummed about where we are with the RB.
