He's bigger than Colt McCoy was as a Sr in high school. I went to see Colt play basketball in the Erwin Center during the state championship and I could not get over how scrawny he was. I was thinking there's no way in hell this kid, who was already committed to us, is ever going to see the field.

Sure. But Colt isn't the norm. We projected that Buechele would be able to similarly put on weight, and that hasn't happened.

The belt might not be moving up to the 45rpm part of the pulley. You can put the platter on upside down and see what it’s doing (or not doing).

If it is not, it could be the belt, pulley angle, or the suspension being worn/out of adjustment. Apparently Thorens are picky about having genuine belts as well. A genuine one will have a White Thorens logo.

I just bought a genuine thorens belt off amazon. Will report back. Thanks for the advice.

  3. This last week has been quite enjoyable. Potential high below 90 today. Rain kicked out all that African dust that has been fucking with my sinuses for a week. Not a day over 95 projected in the next week. I'll fucking take it for the middle of July. Especially knowing that when this system moves out it's obviously never going to rain again.

  4. Y'all seem to know a bunch about turntables. I've got my old man's thorens tdf-160. It sounds great, and the 33 setting works fine, but it plays 45s too slow. What could be causing that? Do I possibly need a new belt?

  5. I wonder why our graphics team hasn't made a graphic with all of our commits on it, like they did last year.

I think we lost the dude that was making all the awesome edits. He took another job, and quality of our graphics has noticeably declined.

  6. 1a and 1b are Ratatouille and Wall-E.

I agree with the poster above that said the first 10 minutes of Up is a revelation in story telling. Still really liked the rest of the film, but that first 10 minutes carries the film to number 3.

    Inside out is probably #4.

    Toy Story

    Finding Nemo

    Coco

    The Incredibles

    Toy story 3

    Toy Story 2

The post I’ve quoted below you is the part of the really complex equation for bulletin board dialogue that you appear to be missing. The Giles discussion is pushed forward because posters show up to defend him, ignorantly but steadily, or to merely play the “your NOTZ a corches!!!?!” card. This happens with Warehime, Mehringer, Beck, it happened with Watson, MacMcWhorter, Giles under Mack, Greg Davis, Vance Bedford, Tim Nunez, and fucking Clovis Hale. As long that happens, people who hang out on a board like this and know better are going to respond. And guys like you will show to plaintively whine about it.

So what you're saying is, Giles is a great recruiter as long as the top DT in the state has Meekins' twin brother for a HS coach and the top DE in the state sees his leading school fire their coach after a dismal season.

La Scarola very is solid, but they should know, they are going to have to be rolled out of the place. The portions are insane.

Hit Emmits next door after. Ronnie will probably be around. Gave me more tips about Chicago than anyone else. Richards is between La Scarola and Emmits, cash only bar, and don't talk shit to the tall dudes with russian accents standing at the end of the bar. Otherwise, it's a trip. You see an older 6'7" 290-320 lbs freakishly dude cut up wearing bedazzled jeans and a skin tight shirt, that's Todd, tell him his buddy from Texas said hello.

Water Taxi turtle death is a SOLID rec.

As I noted earlier, this dude fucks.

    Skip Emmit's. Go to Richard's.

And this is my last comment - but skip Weiner Circle. It's a fucking weird neo-minstrel show where drunk frat boys go to get insulted by loud black women that work there. It's super awkward.

    Well, that answers that.. thanks.

Donnie, who used to run the place, died last year. He WAS Stanley's. Great dude. He will be missed.

The bar wasn't really my scene, but I used to host Live Band Karaoke and Redneck Bingo there occasionally. Had some good times. Food wasn't bad.

You'll need a half day at the Art Institute. I would say a MINIMUM of three hours, but I would allocate four.

Another cool and fun thing to do is to take the Water Taxi down to Chinatown and get some dim sum and watch an old chinese dude whack the head off a turtle and butcher the meat.

For old school, simple Italian, I like La Scarola.

Cocktails at the Matchbox is always a great idea

If you like indie rock and punk rock and that bullshit, see who's playing at the Empty Bottle.

My buddy and I used to transport his dog in the back of his pickup truck.  And by "dog", I mean his younger brother.  And sometimes my buddy would hit the brakes really hard and his dog would fly forward and bang his head on the back window of the cab, and then he'd cry for a while.  Ever heard a dog cry?  Sounds eerily like a 13 YO boy.

My old man used to drive us all around Dallas in the bed of his pickup in the 80s. Although probably not on 103 degree days. Ahhhh, those fun, carelessly irresponsible times....

It’s melted cheese and japs on top of burger patties with mashed up avocado and salsa.

Borderline I suppose - shoulda used a paper plate.

Edit - sigh, I want to say it’s cheez whiz but actually it’s longhorn style cheddar with some water and sodium citrate. I’ll see my way out.

  12. Pequods is the only correct answer for deep dish.

    Spacca Napoli for Neapolitan Style

Architectural Boat tour (they serve beer)

    Art Institute

Go get a combo from Mr. Beef

    You're good on Signature Room

Go see a show at Second City

    Go to a Cubs game

If you do all of that, you'll have a fucking awesome visit.

Otherwise as others have stated, there are a thousand bars and a thousand amazing restaurants so you'd really have to give us an idea of what kind of shit you're into to make an informed recommendation
