  1. I have been following Texas recruiting for a little over ten years. I am young so I might lack the wisdom of some of you but I have noticed something interesting that has happened. At some point the thought process changed when it comes to “writing off players”. I remember a player could be a 3-4 star ranked player, a junior, and have little playing time and he was still in the conversation of contributing. Now it seems like if someone doesn’t start as a freshman or redshirts then he must only not be good enough to ever start but also won’t add depth. I realize this is a getoffmylawn sounding post but it’s quite a different change of perception. Lastly, if you disagree then do what others do and believe I was stoopid high when I wrote this...cause of my UN and all.

It’s not whether or not you start as a freshman. It’s whether or not younger guys pass you on the depth chart and take your place if you’re not already starting. You can’t run third string behind a starter and a kid younger than you.

  2. Let’s just move on from Wilson.  Urban negative recruited us and the kid drank the kool aid.  He’s gone out of his way to bad mouth us to other recruits.  He’s completely bought into the myth that Herman is the bad guy and got his position coach fired along with getting Urban suspended.

    He’s still a bitch

It's more to show the disparity between Paul, who is out in the open and living his life, and Goldman, who represents the closeted gay male who had to hide who they were like Rock Hudson who wasn't outed until after his death from AIDS in 1985. Paul and his actor lover even reference Rock Hudson when they're discussing how the actor has to do shit jobs because he did one gay porn and now can't get any other work and how he should've stayed closeted. I really hope they get to the AIDS crisis of the 80s because I'd love to see Simon's take on it.

I think it certainly adds texture to the whole out vs closeted discussion. But when Goldman was getting dressed to leave, and they guy said "we don't have to hide anymore" he specifically says something along the lines of "i'm a sexual man. don't try to label me". So I took that as them exploring the fluidity of a potentially bisexual character. Then again, he may just be lying to himself. We'll see what happens...

  4. i've really enjoyed this show. As I said before, the only thing I've found tedious was Maggie Gyllenhall's "creative process" in making "Red Hot." I thought it was cheesy and super lame, but I guess I understand why they had to do it. Would like to see more footage of Lori getting banged.

One thing, though. What is the point in having Goldman being a closeted homosexual? Is that going to come into play or is it just a pointless sub plot?

I'm guessing to make his character multidemensional and demonstrate the fluidity of male sexuality? Or how HIV could spread from the gay community to "straight" couples? Maybe he gives his wife the AIDS and his kids are orphaned?

Best is subjective, winningest is not. Bud and Barry cheated their asses off, same as Jackie Sherrill so I dinged them for best.

Bud Wilkenson is the greatest coach in OU's history by a longshot. Bob Stoops is a DISTANT second.

This "best" based on number of wins is akin to saying "Tony Romo is the best QB in Dallas Cowboys history because he passed for the most yards and touchdowns"

And guess who controlled the White House and both houses of Congress when the deep cuts to mental health spending and institutions began?  Hint:  It was during the early-to-mid 60s.

I don't give a fuck who cut funding 50 years ago. I want someone to actually do something about this now. You say it's mental health? Fine. Let's address that. But the President and congress won't do that. It's fucking hollow deflections from transparent, hypocritical, unashamed cowards. .

I’m not upset at all. I was only commenting on the predictability of reactions we see these days, that’s all.

I’m very pro-Israeli and consider to be on the same team with Jews, so the murders are what upset me.

You know what's even more predictable? That racist homicidal maniacs with easy access to guns will go to churches and/or public gatherings and indiscriminately kill multiple people. And then those in charge will continue to blame it on "mental health" all while cutting all funding toward mental health programs. That's even more fucking upsetting.

“A lot of energy was spent on a mistaken identity, but what we are telling you as a police agency is that we would rather do this every single day and be wrong then somebody thinks 'I don’t think this is worth calling the police and then something happens,'” says Kraus [of the Lake Charles Police].

Thank you for that, officer.  "People say it is bad to surround and point a dozen guns at a dude, making him credibly fear he is going to be blown away right in front of his child based on literally nothing.  We would rather do that every single day."

Thought the same thing when that dipshit said that. These fucking cops just do not get it.

Eh, it's at least a pretty much guarantee for being immediate/relatively painless after the initial millisecond of touch down. However, not being able to say bye to ppl definitely drops its 'way to go' rating. I'd go middle of the pack.

I don't think it's about the impact. I think it's the terrifying descent during which one must reconcile imminent and unexpected death that would be the real kick to the balls.
