Much better than expected, but this was always the year to land a lot of top level depth in state. Could still happen

Who, other than Leal, in-state do you consider to be "top level"?

I'd say Stripling, but he never really showed interest in us. That shit happens from time to time.

But I don't think this year is particularly top--heavy as compared to other years, which would necessitate us landing the top-level depth. In fact, I think it's the opposite. It's a relatively thin year for elites but there are a lot of dudes that could come in, compete, and eventually develop into studs.

  2. I bought one of the cheap ones off Amazon for about $25 about a year ago. I'm not exaggerating when I say that my bidet is the single greatest purchase I have made in the last half a decade or so. I dread having to take a shit at the office now. I buy them for friends as gifts and many have paid it forward by purchasing bidets for their friends. It's a whole clean turd cutter movement.

Hey y'all. Sorry to ruin the "Fuck EJ party," but sometimes shit happens. Unlike others, this was obviously not intentional.

I appreciate the work that you and your site do, but nope, that's not gonna fly. If recruiting sites want to be taken seriously as "journalists" then you've got to hold yourselves to a higher standard of professionalism. You don't see the New York Times running retractions with the excuse of "Shit happens." That this is not the first time it's happened makes it even more inexcusable.

  4. For fuck’s sake Giles. Get it together. This dude must have the personality of a Wareheim shit to fuck up so consistently on recruiting. Especially for how well regarded of a coach he is. It’s almost like he has to work harder to fuck up recruiting considering most people consider him one of the better DL coaches around.

Its time for Herman to show he's one of the big boys if he's going to recruit successfully longterm against big boy programs. Say what you want but Urban just dragged his nuts across his face in the Wilson recruitment. We lost out because the things Meyer was saying have a lot of truth in them. Our offense was pathetic. Tim Beck is a below average play caller and coordinator. Our receivers received poor coaching in Herman's first year. We either have below average or unproven qb play on campus. Herman has to fix this, and he decided to stay the course. Which means everyone is going to have to see improvement. You cant really market what we have on offense, its dog shit until proven otherwise. The only thing I think we really have is Herman and Beck's history with qbs, and they've put us in great position there.

Take our defense and its pretty much the opposite. Results matter.

Fucking relax. Herman did the same shit to Urban with Anthony Cook last year.

Our offense sucks. Herman took a gamble in retaining Beck. Either our offense improves, we win and we get whoever the fuck we want, or it doesn't, we suck again, and it's likely Herman doesn't make it past next year. Wash, rinse, repeat. But enough with they hyperbole. We all know where we stand. Now we wait to see what happens.

I have written before that Texas HS coaches have shitted on Texas college programs basically demanding they make offers or they will try and shut down recruiting and when Texas was not going out of state at all it eventually caught up to them

I think some of the later Mack Brown issues besides lazy recruiting was relying on HS coaches to do the work for him and tell him which guys were the better ones with more potential and as other coaches came along at new jobs at top programs some of the Texas HS coaches started sending more of their questionable high star players with soft minds and weak work habits and less upside to Texas simply because Mack would sign them 11 months early and hit the golf course

and with Charlie he was just so fucked from day one because of the way the firing of Mack and the hire of Charlie was handled that Texas HS coaches saw no need to really break ties with other programs and help Charlie out they were like fuck it he will be gone soon enough

Charlie tried the out of state thing, but it looks like the Florida coaches shitted on him too with a package of 5 big time mostly flame outs and Charlie immediately abandoned the out of state thing and Texas HS coaches repaid him right back with more soft as fuck shit heads with limited upside

it is good to see Herman sticking to the out of state recruiting I would rather see him keep doing it at all cost because the truth is Texas HS coaches are not going to stop holding Texas college programs hostage until UT wins with out of state players on the team in meaningful numbers

I agree with some of the points you're making. But at some point the coaching staff has to do independent evaluations while also managing their relationships with high school coaches. The Florida coaches did not "shit on Charlie" by sending him a package of flame outs. Those were talented players that the coaching staff failed to develop. That's on the Texas coaching staff. Not on the Florida high school coaches.

While I think Texas high school coaches are the biggest bunch of whiny primma donnas in all of the land, it's their job to advocate for their players and do everything they can to get those players scholarships to the best schools that will take them. Charlie showed that you can still land quality players by communicating directly with the players and circumventing the coaches. But he consistently let the bulk of the top-10 players in the state go elsewhere. His best class was #10 in the nation. Good, but not not good enough to mitigate his and his staff's coaching deficiencies. If you want to fully capitalize on the in-state talent, and consistently land a large percentage of the state's top-10 players, I think you have to have a fairly good relationship with the majority of the coaches at the top high school programs in the state.
