  1. That's one way to look at it. The other is that he's on a personalized nutrition program, workout and training regimen, his meals are potentially prepared for him, he has access to world class training equipment, and tubby still can't get his weight where it's supposed to be.
  2. At 33 composite, he's one spot away from being a 5 Star on their rankings, assuming they do the thing where the top 32 composite players end up being 5-stars. Hilson is 8 spots away. Perfectly reasonable to think either could get a bump and end up 5 stars. Not saying it will happen. But it certainly could. And when was the last time the top rated EDGE player in the country wasnt a 5 star?
  3. Love all his movies so far. But agree this seems like an odd choice for him. His brother Ben is the singer/songwriter in the band Lucero and Ben's been doing solo acoustic tours with other singer/songwriter types for years and it's called "Bikeriders tour" so I'm wondering if that has something to do with it.
  4. Do you even double foot jam endo to bro shake?
  5. What exactly are we going to ruin for them? Going 8-4 every year?
  6. So they've got an Irish guy in his early 40s and an Italian woman in her mid-50s to lead a cast working at a "historic Midwestern newspaper". OK.
  7. He clearly gave them a silent on his trip and it got out. We'll see if the staff can keep him from officially announcing and to keep his official to Texas.
  8. Lots of quality fan fiction in there. Every single bar on 6th street turned you away because you're a bama fan. But at the same time most of the students don't care about football. Bama fans calling ANY OTHER FAN BASE arrogant. Good shit.
  9. That's my Whataburger. It's generally pretty good but they're not perfect. They fuck stuff up a bit here and there. My biggest complaint about WB is that when you order a burger or combo meal, you have to remember to tell them to add cheese. That should be the standard. And they should ask if you want cheese on it if you don't remember to ask. Inevitably I'll order four combos for my family, and everyone wants theirs a specific way, and I'll get into their various specifications, but forget to order cheese on one of them. Pisses me off.
  10. Saw Quicksand and Hot Water Music at Mohawk last night. Show was fine. Bands were fine. But is there a worse venue to see live music in Austin? That place is terrible. The site lines are terrible. The upper level makes no fucking sense. The sound is atrocious and because it's outdoors, they can never get the volume up high enough unless your right in front of the stage. That place is god awful, and every mid-size rock band plays there for some reason. It's so frustrating.
  11. I think it's funny Oregon thinks they're in this.
  12. The dimwits at Rivals still have Lole going to OU. So you can go ahead and disregard their rankings because they don't even take into consideration our most significant addition during the second portal window. They're trask.
  13. This morning 75% prediction of storms starting at 3pm and continuing through 10pm with a predicted .4 inches of rain. Now chances down to 46% and down to .04 inches of rain. We ain't getting shit. Also, 10 days straight of 91 - 96 starting Saturday. Hello blastfurnace.
  14. Necro-bumping this thread, as this appears to be the only diabetics thread on Surly. I got a cold about 6 weeks ago and after recovering from it I had a persistent cough and some upper respiratory irritation. Set up a doc visit thinking I'd get on an antibiotic. Stepped on the scale at intake and weight was waaaay down. Actually asked to use a different scale because I thought that scale was wrong. Nope. Same weight on different scale. I was 182 in October. I was 164 on Thursday. I dropped 18 lbs in six months without any change to diet or exercise. Doc was concerned and did blood work. Diagnosed with Type 2. According to my doc, diabetes has been aggressively "eating" my muscle and some of my fat. Got on a glucose monitor and was prescribed metformin. Been taking it since Saturday night but my glucose is still high, regularly hovering around 300 (although right now I think I've hit my low of 239 since I started wearing the monitor. Yay!). Totally changed my diet and am almost exclusively eating proteins and vegetables with the very rare open-faced sandwich of one-piece of whole wheat bread. Eliminated beers and replaced it with tequila sodas. This whole thing seems very weird to me because most type-2 diabetics are pretty significantly overweight (no judgment for those of you that are.) But I was only about 7lbs heavier than I should have been. I've heard you can "cure" yourself of Type 2 diabetes through diet and exercise, but right now I'm significantly underweight and wasting away. Not sure how that's going to work for me because I don't need to get my weight under control. I have a follow up with the doc scheduled for next Thursday, but I may bump it up if I keep shedding lbs. Weighed myself yesterday and was down to 160, so I had lost 4lbs in 4 days. But I'm finding diabetes dehydrates you and makes you piss all the time. Plus I just haven't been hungry because of the metformin, and have been eating less. Going to have to force myself to eat to maintain weight, and to drink a lot of water. I'm constantly very tired and occasionally light-headed so exercising has been a challenge. But I have been walk/running 3 miles a day this week. Wondering when I'm going to feel well enough to start doing some weight training to rebuild muscle mass. Anyway, this sucks a donkey's dick. Anyone else out there have experience with this?
  15. Any private school competing in the UIL cannot offer athletic scholarships. So the two Jesuit schools are not offering scholarships for lacrosse. Not sure about ESD and Greenhill.
  16. That doesn't look better than the Godfather.
  17. Abbott banned sausage because it turns kids gay.
  18. Excellent message board detective work. 10 internet points awarded to you sir. You've got him good!
