  1. Not trying to pooh pooh anything. Burnt Ends is awesome. you guys are at the forefront. Just a normal successful guy with kids living in the burbs. I liked the idea of the recognition for Worthy. I thought he played his guts out for us.
  2. Aren't there two big NIL announcements coming from UT though? One very soon? Seems like there will be ways to make it work indirectly.
  3. okay, still some alumni funded organization that does the pooling then. Happy to learn more.
  4. I guess I was wanting to contribute to a big pool that would be able to do what closetojumping is talking about. Most players getting paid a substantial salary and so on. But if that big pool doesn't materialize soon, then yeah I will join Burnt Ends. I was looking at the options yesterday.
  5. Maybe I am. I was waiting to see if UT was going to put a vehicle out there to contribute to. But if they don't, then I'll be joining Burnt Ends.
  6. It's truly ridiculous we have not already raised $5K for Worthy. It should be a $10K target anyway IMO. If Stewart got $250k just to go to A&M what should we be doing for Worthy???? I get hating on the LHF and our bloated Athletic Department. But this kid put forth a tremendous effort on our behalf. He is truly worthy of our recognition. This board talks a lot about what Texas should like on the field. We agree that this year's team fell short. But Worthy exemplified what we want Texas Football to look like IMO. If Surly can't muster that then we aren't who we think we are. I already gave a $100 to the fund and I will give another $200 if at least ten others agree to contribute $200 more as well.
  7. maybe banner should say: if you are pissed off and want to do something to help, contribute here!!!
  8. Weird, I just clicked on it. I don't think I have any special access. The link is pinned at the top of my Surly browser window.
  9. It looks like Surly is well short of its goal of $5000 which seems very small compared to his incredible effort this year. I know this forum can rise to the occasion and get there!!
  10. I don't blame anyone for being turned off either by the product on the field or the new atmosphere for college athletics. I get that. I do think Xavier Worthy played his guts out for us this year and if you want to reward an actual hard-working bright spot you can donate to his award in the NIL forum. Hook'em.
  11. Extra chaos and uncertainty at OU and LSU and A&M does mean more opportunity for Texas to poach staff and recruits and it takes the narrative away from our win loss record this year. So that is good for UT and I can be happy about that extra opportunity. However it is definitely not as good as taking care of our own business on the field.
  12. The Big 12 needed both Texas and OU to be really relevant. Not really that Texas needed OU.
  13. Who are good DC candidates that are pretty obtainable? Thinking of all the coaching changes, there must be some good candidates caught up in the wash.
  14. Agree that getting the offseason changes right is huge for Sark. I think it's a lot to expect him to get everything right staff-wise from Day 1. That type of hire wasn't available IMO. It's reasonable to expect Sark to have growing pains in this job. He was not one of the four or five ultra proven head coaches out there. And we aren't paying him like that either. But he needs to correctly diagnose problems and make effective changes. How he does this should determine his tenure at Texas.
  15. I think that is most public benching of a senior on Senior Day that I have ever seen. Like by a mile. A message is being sent. I would have like it sent several games ago. I hope it helps but who knows how kids take these things nowadays.
  16. RoJo is a good example of why this team gets my support despite the win loss record. Just great heart and effort to almost carry the damn team to a win. That is worth celebrating.
  17. BJ Foster yawning on the sidelines while the Defense is on the field on Senior Day might be the meme of the year for this team.
  18. The visible difference in effort between RoJo and Worthy and most everybody else is startling.
  19. Kyle Flood has done some work on the OL this year. Clean pockets and running lanes are there. In this trainwreck of a season, it's nice to see some development in a key area.
  20. I think you have something here. Iron sharpens iron. In this version of the Big 12, we could "Be Texas" and expect to compete. The Athletic Dept could say we were competing effectively. We will have to raise our game as a whole organization to compete with what are really more peers, large State schools that care about football, or we will get crushed.
  21. they had a first year head coach they had lost a ton of production to graduation the year before they had problems on the side of the ball that was not the head coach's specialty they had a terrible win loss record Would you rather inherit Matt Rhule's players or Tom Herman's? Who is working with more? I don't think it's clear. I guess my main point is that a bad win loss record in a first year head coach just doesn't tell you very much IMO and I think Baylor the last two years is a reasonable example of why I think that.
  22. Baylor is Baylor, bad comparison. I'm not one of the ones hoping for an empty stadium, but it would be a form of protest. Pointless protest, but still.. Folks wonder why we are cursed, is it possible that because we are Texas we can't look to Baylor to see what works. Baylor went from 2-7 last year to top ten this year. A bad year does not have to be a Doom sentence. It's a red flag there are problems for sure. But not something that cannot be overcome.
  23. All good. How about this: Let's not make written in stone judgement of this staff until we see what a team of their upper classmen looks like. If lack of development has been an issue, does all that get fixed with the last guys players in one off season? I'm happy to hold off firm judgement and support the team until then. I understand others can have different opinions.
