I don’t know if I am misquoting or not, but I am pretty sure Delpo is currently the youngest major winner on tour. He will be 31 in September and Cilic is a couple of days older (I think). Regardless of how dominant the Big 3 have been, it’s pretty sad that not one player currently in their 20’s has ever won a major.
I know it’s almost impossible to win back to back weeks, but Rory is one of the few that seems to carry it for a little while when he finds his “A Game”.
Anyone betting the Belmont today? It seems like a chalky kind of race with Tacitus and War of Will as the favorites. I’m thinking about taking a shot on some of the bigger prices (Tax, Master Fencer, Spinoff, or Sir Winston) since it is such a unique race. But I am having a hard time convincing myself that any of them have a chance.
I wasn’t planning on getting up to watch it, but when I got up and saw it was 4-1 Theim in the 5th I watched the resumption. Really an ugly half hour or so with both guys making a ton of errors. I’m happy for Thiem though because I really thought he got screwed yesterday.
*If* that is true, he should be DQ’d. I would think that maybe they talked about it and he said he wasn’t going back out there, they caved, and then he left before the public announcement was made. That would seem more likely than him just leaving, but you never know.
