I know no one on this board ever wants to be reasonable, especially after a loss. But it was a pretty good season. Tennessee is clearly the more talented team and we still almost stole one.
We do need to get to work in the portal though, because I think our problems are much more about roster construction than anything in-game. This wasn’t actually a sweet 16 caliber team. There’s a reason we had to muck up games to have a chance.

RT cannot afford anymore portal whiffs like Horton and Onyema.
Horton and Onyema were last minute replacements after we had two blue chip recruits bail out of their letter of intents. It was a unique emergency situation. We should not take those caliber of players again.

Today's margins were a little worse than yesterday's, but 3 of the #1 seeds played today, so that's to be expected. Think we had 5 single digit margin games yesterday, we've had 3 so far today with a potential 4th. Also, it should be pointed out that FAU/Northwestern went to OT before it ended up a double digit margin.

James Madison led that game wire to wire. That was no Cinderella magic or anything, they were just clearly better than Wisconsin.

Yale is always salty in the tournament. Upset Baylor 6 or 7 years ago, almost upset LSU a couple of years ago, now they upset Auburn.

College refs fucking suck man.

Also they were a failure
Yeah, I don't think they were all that great at developing players, which is why the money was the only point. And why it now serves no purpose with NIL being as big as it is.

The Ignite really were only created to give kids an option to make money without having to leave the country. NIL has rendered it pointless, closing it down is the right call.

Yeah, most people thought he was flipping to Arkansas when he first asked out of his letter of intent here.

That was some clutch FT shooting by Duquesne.

This Virginia team had absolutely no business being in this tournament. Got in based on being a brand name, selection committee should be embarrassed.

So, like, Tyrese Hunter?
No. I get that Hunter is frustrating, but Askew is a much worse player. Worse shooter, worse finisher, worse passer.

This dude has one of the worst offensive games I’ve ever seen from a power conference guard.
Cal stinks, so a player can transfer there and get a green light they wouldn’t get at almost any other power conference school. Jaylon Tyson ended up at Cal and actually flourished there because of this.
But Askew does almost nothing well offensively, an extra green light doesn’t matter for him.

It’s true we could easily lose in the first round, but save that pessimism for later, today is the day to shit on OU fans.

So in these settings, does the team that's already played a game have the advantage over a rested team ?
In these settings, the team that isn’t coached by Rick Barnes has the advantage.

We finished 3rd in this recruitment back when he first committed, but Kansas finished second.

I don’t think that’s likely, based on a couple of things I’ve read. Do you have them saying anything like that somewhere?
No, as I said, I’m just guessing. They haven’t said publicly they’re a package deal. But if the two OL continue to rise, there will be more schools willing to take all 3, it won’t just be Tech.

Yep. Going to get a feel for all these OOS guys before deciding on guys like Jackson Christian, Tyler Thomas, and the Coleman twins. Fasusi is probably the only guy in-state that could commit right now. Well, probably Haywood and Rogers, but those two don't look likely currently.
The Coleman twins are actually the Coleman triplets. The 3rd brother is a DL who isn’t quite as big and won’t be as highly ranked as the other two. I’m guessing the biggest school willing to take all 3 is the one who lands them.
Sand aggy has already offered all 3.

I' mean I love weaver's attitude and effort but the real thing is he is cat quick and can jump out of the gym for his size.
He’s a max effort guy who also has max athleticism. Makes him both super fun to watch and easy to root for.

Texas wants more length and size. Two things Rink lacks. We are not a top school because we are not recruiting him very hard.
Wasn’t there talk recently of a kid who tried to commit and the staff told him to slow down?
Could easily see that being Rink, and now he’s a little butthurt about being rebuffed.

To be fair, that was almost everybody on the board. It didn't seem like an amazing take at the time, especially as part of a 1-2 weekend commit punch with Casey Cain.
Everyone would’ve taken Wheaton or Johnson, but Brooks had his fair share of defenders on the board at the time too, especially once he got deep into his senior year. He had amazing tape, some just couldn’t get over that it was in 3A.But I do think even the Brooks defenders wanted him to be part of a two back class.

I believe Hallettsville, Jonathan Brooks' alma mater, is also 4A. Lots of talent in the sub-5A schools, and if good enough for Choice . . . .
Hallettsville is actually 3A.
I remember all the gnashing of teeth by certain people on this board about why were we taking such a small-school kid and missing out on Camar Wheaton and LJ Johnson.

Hmmm
Seems dumb. I feel like the coaches who actually make conference championship games are going to complain about this as soon as they actually have to do both.

So did Worthy.
I can’t imagine recruiting that kid would be worth it. Let him and his family be someone else’s headache.
