This.  Exposure to OSU as a kid is why he went there.  I remember as a kid listening, here in Texas, to the Yankees play the Reds in the World Series.  Fell in love with the Yankees and still a big fan.  Easy to see Wilson growing up and wanting to play for them.  We will be fine.  There are no guarantees regardless if where you pay.

You can talk about him being from Ohio all you want, but if our offense didn't suck ass, he'd be a Longhorn.  The defense has tangible evidence of improvement under Orlando, but the offense is still selling hope, and you can only sell hope for so long.

he was 12 when he moved to Texas. Not being able to sway a kid who spent his teen years here is concerning. he basically had seen all Texas/Austin had to offer and still chose to go somewhere else.

and there is this quote from him

"“They were close,” Wilson said of Texas. “I’m not going to lie, the official visit made me think about them a little more. In the end, I’ve watched a lot of people go to Texas with a ton of ability and maybe not achieve what I thought they could. I didn’t want to be one of those guys.”

Herman is going to have to nut up and start calling plays, we can't afford another year of Beck.

    Herman hired the motherfucker.

And this has nothing to do with a WR coach. It has to do with wins. Wins help you get drafted higher.

You could put a very easy to search spreadsheet together of all the highly ranked WRs that Texas has got drafted and all the highly ranked WR that Urban has got drafted in the past 8 years. It apps an easy sell

Who says I'm not blaming Herman for that? He hired his buddies, Warehime and Mehringer are completely useless.

And you should have an advantage for guys in your own backyard, especially considering Herman was Urban's OC for that championship run.

  4. Everybody plays 7-on-7 with everybody, there's only a handful of top teams in the whole state. That shit rarely matters.

You want to be mad at somebody, be mad at Mehringer, he's useless as a coach, and if he misses out on two top WRs in his own backyard, then there's no fucking reason for him to be here.

-Marcus Stripling was at the Houston UA camp this weekend or whenever it was and was getting repeatedly whipped by some C/G type out of Manvel. The Manvel guy is good enough to get a D-1 scholarship somewhere but he's not a major recruit or talent. It got so bad that Stripling literally quit during the workout, likely with a UA AA Game invite on the line. Took his cleats off and started watching practice in flip flops.

Manvel kid I think was Layden Robinson, he just visited us for the Spring game. Word is he showed out at the camp.

The Flagship 247 has 0 updates on the big recruiting weekend.
I guess the 7v7 tournament in New Orleans that Texas fans give 0 fucks about, takes precedence.

Does EJ not have a boss? He gets paid to cover the Longhorns, how is it a good idea to not cover the spring game visits at all.

I don't recall why Isaiah Spiller is not being recruited. Herman likes a slot WR that has the ability to do things in the backfield and Spiller seems to fit that mold. Just higher targets on the board or off field issues?

Our WR board is insane and we have a shot at all of our top targets, no way in hell Spiller would be a priority there.

The only place Spiller would fit in our class is as a second change-of-pace back behind Cain, but given how aggy that family is, seems like that would be a waste of time and resources.

Still better than Massachusetts High School Football.

What's their out of district schedule look like? Surely,  Primetime and Samurai Mike won't schedule scrub teams.

They play a team in Florida that I have no reference point for, All-Saints Episcopal, who we pull from occasionally (they are Tapps D1), and Melissa, who went 12-2 in 4A last year and lost to the eventual state champs. That's going to be way better than Massachusetts football for sure.

Once they get into TAPPS D2 play though, it should be fairly lopsided. TC-Cedar Hill has more talent than any one else in that division.

It'll be interesting to see what happens in state at DB after we land Watson. Catalon is only must land in my book right now.

Richardson would be nice, but I think he's pretty content with Aggy. His dad likes Texas though, we'll see if anything comes from it.

Not sure if there's another player in the state who did more for his team than Catalon did for Mansfield Legacy. He was the best player on the field no matter where he lined up and they lined him up everywhere as if he were a small school kid. Legacy is 5A.

is anybody else having a twitter formatting issue where quoted tweets spill out of the quote box and cover part of the text?

Yep. You can still click the read more button though, through the tweet.

Looking at the mockdraftable database, there aren't many wide receivers who fit Higgins' profile of a 6'3 235+ WR. Tough to come up with a good comp.

Kelvin Benjamin was even bigger and stayed at WR, it's rare though.
