Idk about his throwing ability, but anyone who watched JQJ run over, through, and around NS play after play in the state title game despite NS knowing what was coming has to be excited about his prospects in Herman's O.

He was decidedly the best player on the field that day, and that says a lot considering how much talent was in that game.

I don't get the Tebow comparison at all.

As runners, they're not at all alike, other than that they both run between the tackles.  JQJ is a home run hitter on the ground in ways Tebow never dreamed of.  Tebow and Sam are pretty similar runners, and no one would say JQJ and Sam run the ball similarly.

If there's someone that JQJ runs like (and this is a pretty unfair comparison to make at this point in his career), JQJ looks like Cam Newton when he's running the football.  From his size, speed, spin move, and juke--that's who he reminds me of.

I have zero recollection of Tebow's passing on his HS film, if I ever saw it in the first place.  JQJ runs the ball on about 80% of the designed pass plays on his highlight tapes, and most of the called routes are bubble screens.  So it's really tough to find someone to compare his passing to.  Maybe Nick Marshall--who was QB for Auburn a few years back?

From a pure Size and Speed standpoint, Cam is the comp, those other guys you mentioned are/were too small. JQJ as a junior in high school was already the same size that Barret is now. But like Fud said, he’s got a lot of work to do as a passer.

No idea.  But the 2017 class's dry spell from after we got the commitment from (I think) Major Tennison, until Herman took over and started landing some recruits was waaaay more painful than this.  You had the highs of the Notre Dame win and thinking we were going to land 3-5 five star players, followed by the miserable 5-7 campaign and loss to KU and TCU to end the year.

True, we had to suffer for the Strong era to finally come to an end. I guess this drought is just more odd, it makes sense in transition years.

    Lol Giles

The brother being at OU is something we always should’ve been worried about imo. Also, is he a Giles guy even though he ain’t gonna be a pure DL here, and if he is, why?

  3. The fact that the Georgia shit is working when we literally just beat them shows that this SEC shit is ingrained in these kids heads. The only thing that’s gonna change that is playoff appearances and 1st round draft picks, even beating LSU won’t matter if it doesn’t come with those two things.

Maybe relax a bit on the twitter stalking. Not everything is something.

Maybe I follow players and recruits on Twitter and was just asking a question. Maybe you can shut the fuck up as well instead of being an asshole for my simple question.

Maybe you can not be such a sensitive twat.

Those of you in the know, wtf is Jordan tweeting about with the lying? I hope not a coach.

Not only that, but we’ve generally prioritized in-state players every year under Herman. A lot of the times we’ve gone OOS is when the in state target picks a different school.

We didn't even go out of state that much with Strong, its just a go to negative recruiting tactic rivals use, and it works when we don't win.

The amount of WRs the state the state is producing is absurd

It's a position we as fans should never really worry about. In this state you can land great WRs damn near by accident.

I’ve never seen more discussion about a guy that was never a serious candidate for the program than this thread regarding this guy. It’s caused enough self-doubt where I’ve gone and said “Am I insane? Is Texas actually making some sort of real push for this guy?”. “Uh, no. “ Fuck. The ol’Surly wet willie strikes again.

I didn't understand this either, 98% of the times I heard this kids name came exclusively form this board.

Tall slow WRs don't get drafted high anymore. This was evident a couple of years ago when Equanimeous St. Brown, Auden Tate, Allen Lazard, Jaleel Scott, and Marcell Ateman all fell in the same draft

I think Arcega-Whiteside is different, as he's ridiculously physical

Arcega-Whiteside supposedly ran a 4.49 at his pro day, which sounds like bullshit, but that's why big guys should run at their pro days and not at the combine.

  9. The DFW recruiting has bothered me for a few years, but it’s much too early to panic for this cycle, and it needs to be pointed out that 3 of the 6 OU dfw commits are guys we had little to no interest in. When you are are including freaking Trevon West in that talking point like Wescott is, you are just looking to pad your negative argument.

The Duncanville duo are the litmus test, if we can’t land those guys then shit has to change. We have built in advantages in that recruitment, and Duncanville matters more than the schools some of these other kids are coming from. That Southwest Dallas burbs area (Duncanville-Desoto-Cedar Hill-Lancaster) will produce great players every year.

The staff gets the benefit of the doubt from me in many aspects of how they run this program.

High-level DL recruiting is not one of them. If we go 3/3 on that trio, I will gladly recant. Realistically I think we get 2/3 and it wouldn't surprise me if we went 1/3.

I don't think Princely deserves to be in the same category as Collins and Broughton. He's not as good and he was never as much of a Texas lean as the other two were/are. Missing on Princely wouldn't be the end of the world, but the other two? This board would go to shit (well, even more shit than usual) and deservedly so.

Recruits want to see a route to getting drafted. Not "well you might fall out of the Draft because no one rates Big XII lineman, but it's cool because you get a good second salary".

I know what you're saying but If Poona becomes a really good player, most people won't even remember he went undrafted. Priest Holmes didn't get drafted either, that didn't stop us from bragging about having 2 star RBs in the league with him and Ricky once he broke out.

Big 12 Defensive Lineman of the Year doesn't mean much if it doesn't pay off at the next level and if recruits think the Big 12 sucks at defense. Poona won the award and went undrafted for his effort. Recruits want to "secure the bag" or whatever, and the best way to do that is to be drafted highly.

Hell, Kris Boyd was named First-Team All Big 12 and a large chunk of our own fanbase thinks he was a JAG at best.

Poona will pay off when he signs his next contract. That was the NFLs fault not ours or his. He had great tape at Texas and was great in Seattle this past year.

The only thing more laugh out loud pathetic than his recruiting is the folks on this board who dont want to hear it.

You're not going to get 100% consensus on anything. 90-95% of this board already know Giles sucks, you're screaming at like a couple of people.
