hunter was never a threat to win this thing.  he was great in challenges but inept strategically.  both he and tiff were certain to play their idols, according to the edits, but neither did.  hunter was desperate for reassurances on whether he was safe or not and trusted what he heard over his instincts.  here's the way i see it:  venus and  ben have zero shot and are just hangers on.  q also has no shot because he's alienated himself.   liz would be next.  she has some smarts but maybe that dont apply to this game.  that leaves tiff, kenzie, maria, and charlie.  kenzie is the most vocal of that group, so first out.  final three is maria, charlie, and tiff.

I agree with most of this with a few exceptions.  It is likely that only one of Maria and Charlie will be in the final, as one will have to eliminate the other to pad the résumé.  Maybe they both get in if one has to make fire, but they are both too smart to let it get that far.  I think Maria is more likely to blindside Charlie.  In spite of her dietary issues, I think Liz makes it over Tiff.  Neither is deserving, but Q or Venus is likely to be the third as a "bring them because they can't win" person.  Q will probably end up finding an idol to save himself at some point.  Unless something changes, Ben is not a strategic threat, but he will be eliminated because he is likeable.  Kenzie could end up at final tribal, but she will need immunity to do it.

  2. I was obviously too hard on Amber, and I agree that I did not put enough blame on what impact Vinny's abuse has on her, but damn it's frustrating when people go on the race unprepared.  If you can't drive a stick or navigate yourself out of a wet paper bag, then TAR probably isn't for you, even in a watered down low-travel season.

I am embarrassed for them at how they are being edited, and I have to assume that reality is worse than what we are being shown.  Perhaps I should have suggested that Amber kick Vinny out of the car and drive herself to Tierra del Fuego, but one, she can't drive a stick, and two, she would have ended up in Canada.

  3. So Amber can't navigate, drive a stick, or do any challenge?  Vinny isn't exactly hiding his feelings about those things, but I'm sure I would have thrown her out of the car and driven to Tierra del Fuego by now.  How do you decide to go on The Amazing Race without doing anything to address your deficiencies in areas that you know are going to come into play?  And what possesses you to bring someone like that as your partner?  The fact that they are not only still in the race, but lurking near the top emphasizes how weak this cast is.  Amber is going to be completely dependent on you forever in every facet of life.  Run, Vinny.  Run!

This was a dream leg for Team Momma's Boy.  It was like Cliff Clavin playing Jeopardy.

    Gotta convert that.

We need another goal or two to kill this off soon. Chelsea have talent; we don’t want them hanging around/growing into this match.

Sneaking fear we’re going to regret not converting one of those chances for 2-nil.

Saka looks worn out; maybe we should have started Jesus on the right.

This has the feel of a 4-3 match before we are done here.

They’re going to convert one of these at some point. Yikes.

I can't say that I wasn't feeling the same way, but it's hilarious to read this thread after the fact.

For sure. Especially since the basketball HOF lets everyone in.

They are the South Austin's mom of HOFs.

My issue is that they're only visiting Hispanic countries giving teams that speak Spanish a huge advantage.

This is a big issue for me as well.  Several of the teams speak Spanish, but for those who don't, it sucks.

  7. It's obvious that we are supposed to be pulling for Team Momma's Boy, but I just can't do it.  I'm hoping that they go soon.  I'm glad that the pilots have upped their game.  Maybe a couple of other teams will do the same and make a race out of it.  Navigation seems to the biggest weakness for most of the teams.

liz orchestrated that blindside.  since tevin orchestrated the soda blindside and got voted out right after, makes you wonder if liz is going next week.

Liz believed that the Soda blindside was her idea, and was sick of Tevin patting himself on the back for it.  She could have targeted Venus for the same reason, but likely thought that Tevin was the bigger threat, or was more annoying.

I was hoping that someone would turn on Q before the tribal bullshit.  I don't know what to make of things now.  I think Maria and Charlie have the game to drive things.  Liz has the desire to play, but she needs to be smarter about her targets.  Playing on emotion usually doesn't end well.  I love Hunter, but unless he suddenly decides to participate in the "outwit" part of the game, he has no chance to win.  I still feel like Kenzie is biding her time, but she needs to start having an impact soon.  Tiff missed a real opportunity to do something when she found out Q was targeting her.  Q is a total wild card right now.

The big concert that summer was ZZ Top’s World Wide Texas Tour. We went on the 4th of July in the Liberty Bowl in Memphis. Outlaws, Blue Oyster Cult, Lynyrd Skynyrd. ZZ Top.

Was it the top priority of the summer?  You need to get your priorities straight.

Pulling for Hunter.  Reminds me of Colby in challenges.

Funny you mention that.  I just started rewatching Season 2.  I still have no idea how Tina won.  That was probably the most disappointing final tribal for me of all time.

How about age 9, '74, Billy fucking Martin, manager, Toby Harrah, Jim Sundberg, Mike Hargrove, first winning season in Texas. Dr. Pepper sponsored kids "season tickets" I think we got 8 games in the bleachers for almost nothing. My dad (lifelong Reds fan) took off work so we could go to all of them, plus a couple more if I remember.

So that's 50 years. Anyone else?

Age 7, '72.  Toby Harrah still counts, but Lenny Randle was my favorite.

  12. I don't know which was the more cringing watch, the firefighters trying to work out perhaps the easiest task in TAR history, or the statue challenge where multiple racers had no idea how to orient themselves to a map.  Barring taxi voodoo, the gay couple should win every leg.  There is no other team in their league.

On the plus side, I still have that groovy break dancing beat in my head.

  13. I'm pulling for Hunter, Charlie, and Maria, but I expect that to change as things progress, ether due to them getting eliminated or doing something that I don't like.  Kenzie could easily move up, but she needs to start playing.  Tiffany could also move up, but she needs to separate from Q.

  14. I'm mostly just being an ass because that's what we do here.  If you want to discuss the state of the baseball program in a thread discussing whether we should fire the men's basketball coach, go for it.  It's not as though you will make this thread any worse.

The topic is whether to fire RT.  I’m saying there’s a bigger fish to gut before RT.

I'm saying there's a place where gutting that bigger fish is already being discussed.

It's not an either/or situation.  The University of Texas is perfectly capable of considering multiple coaching changes at one time.

Honestly, I’m more distressed with what’s happening in baseball.

Basketball is little more than a filler between football and baseball seasons.  Where is the evidence that we’ve ever been or ever will be a serious national championship contender?  A deep tournament run once a decade is about all we can hope for and that doesn’t meet the criteria, IMO.

We have the chops of a baseball blue blood.  Correcting that buffoonery should be a much higher priority.

Yeah.  Someone should start a baseball board with a thread to discuss that.
