This season has been so enjoyable - top 5 I think for me in the entire run.

Rooting for dad and son but assume the brothers win.

Yep.  My preferred order is dad/son, beards, brothers, but all are likeable.  It's been a good season.

  2. No, if it were up to me, I would not have hired RT away from UTEP.  No one would have.  Where we cease to share common ground is that I have not already come to the conclusion that what we saw from RT at UTEP is the best he will ever do.  I mean, he showed last season that he is at least capable of competently leading a team with a lot of potential to the Elite Eight.  He has also shown that he is capable of attracting talent to Texas, or at least not scaring it away if you think NIL is the primary factor that determines where players sign.  It remains to be seen if he is capable of repeatedly turning a collection of talent into a cohesive team that makes deep postseason runs.  No coach, even those with skins on the wall, accomplishes that every season, not even Saint Beard.

You like to constantly remind everyone that you think hiring RT was a huge mistake.  You do it when any little thing goes wrong.  You do it when any little thing goes right.  I suspect you even do it in your sleep.  Trust me, WE KNOW.  We ALL know.  I would suggest that you do not need to keep reminding us, but something inside you says that if you keep repeating it, we will suddenly agree with you.  I also know that telling you that we won't isn't going to change anything.

My point has always been that RT is the Head Coach at Texas, even if he isn't who any of us would have hired when he was at UTEP.  Most of us have come to terms with why he was hired.  Can we at least see what he can accomplish in this role before we constantly shit on him?  If he performs the way you expect, then sure, scream it from the top of The Tower what a horrible hire this was.  You'll likely have a lot of company to that end.  No one is going to forget that you told us all.

I'm not predicting years of unparalleled success, and I have not seen anyone else do that.  I'm simply suggesting we give RT the same opportunity to prove himself that we would anyone else that we could have hired.  He's here.  He deserves that much.

  3. You've convinced me.  How could I be so wrong as to have a little optimism that Terry has learned some things in his 28 years and might actually improve?  If only there were a good example of a coach who has been able to exceed all expectations by accomplishing things at Texas that he was unable to achieve in his previous head coaching gigs.  I mean that shit never ever happens.   It's also my understanding that QBs never get better with experience.  I admit it.  We are doomed.  Don't let that piece of sky hit you.

I mean, that’s pretty much what everyone is saying. Get Disu back and then evaluate from there.

I’m not sure the condescension was warranted?

Perhaps not, but premature lack of sunshine makes me extra surly.

A dark evil part of me wanted to see him drop dead from exhaustion with her screaming over his corpse "COME ON DAD!"

I thought he was going to have to be rescued from the swim there for a minute.  Have to hand it to him.  He only lost his cool once...at least that they showed, and I think that was due to navigation crap if I remember correctly.  They struggled with that the entire race.

    Oof. 1 for 4.

Georgia was obviously close. Credit to Saban for taking a not particularly talented team by his standards and flat out beating them.

tOSU - Honestly, mostly picked them because I can't stand Michigan. If I really cared about being right, I'd have had that one.

Texas in the correct position. Nice.

Clemson - whoops. I thought even with Klubnik they'd tear through the ACC and beat FSU in Death Valley (they almost did!). Turns out they were worse all around than expected and Klubnik is godawful when it matters. Watched the Duke game in person - they still have great fans that do a great tailgate and know their football.

And the Pac did not cannibalize themselves - the Trojan transfers didn't raise their defense to where it needed to be (thanks Grinch!) and Utah had half their team on the training table by game three, freeing it up for Washington to get in by beating Oregon twice and doing just enough against the rest (with a little help from the zebras against SC)

At least your 1 was the 1 to get.  Who cares about the rest?

  7. On the flip side, Texas is eight games into a season with most of the main pieces being new and one of its best weapons yet to play due to injury.  I'm shocked...SHOCKED I tell you... that the team isn't already playing in peak form.  They've lost two games to top-10 teams away from home, one of which was to a coach who always overachieves this time of year and who was extremely motivated to prove something.

Yes, there is quite a bit of room for improvement.  There are also a lot of games left to be played.  Go ahead and get Terry's dismissal papers ready to sign if you must, but I'm going to give him a little more time.

Some other top-25 teams with two or more losses:
    Marquette
    Duke
    North Carolina
    Kentucky
    Tennessee
    Aggy
    Wisconsin

I thought Emily played great last week to get Bruce out. I thought she was stupid when she got back to camp and had to brag to the others about in brilliance in setting up Bruce. Painted a fucking target on herself like Emily 1.0.

Excellent point.  I completely agree.  She adapted really well from a rough start, but fell back into old habits at the end.

  9. I was pulling for Emily, so this one sucked.  Fingers will be pointed at Austin, but Emily has Drew to thank for it.  They didn't need Austin's vote.  I'm really surprised that Drew was not more aware about how close Austin and Dee have become.  You tell people that you trust the plan, but trusting them to not do the same is where shit happens.

I'm even more surprised that they did not change the plan when it became obvious that Julie was aware.  All they needed to do was split the vote.  I can only assume that she was confident that Julie would vote Austin.  It is consistent for Emily to stick with her Julie vote, ever focused on the long game instead of seeing the immediate risk.

I think Drew currently has the best resume, but I can see a path for any of the final 6 to win.  It should be interesting.

Another way of looking at SOS. If it matters to the committee and head to head matters like they said, then it may be enough for Alabama to overtake FSU with their undefeated championship win. I have it like this. This way, OOC games will continue to be scheduled like Texas and Alabama or tOSU and Oklahoma, otherwise teams won't do that, especially when the playoff games expand. Going undefeated to earn your spot should very important but does it overcome the other two factors? Remember the TCU example when they gave them the nod for going undefeated in a weak ass Big 12 year. I'm sure the committee remembers.

The counterpoint to your OOC games argument is FSU/LSU, which FSU won.  The SEC shit the bed in meaningful OOC games this season.  That should matter, but we'll have to wait and see if it does to the committee.  To be clear, Texas is in, and the last spot will come down to FSU and Alabama.

I'm not worried about Georgia right now. This year, all 5 P5 conferences are in play. Usually is never like this. No way they allow a non conference champ to get in over a conference champ with the same record.

Remember, we were behind Oregon all this time. And so many said no way the committee changes their mind this late to push us ahead of Oregon if we both won this weekend. Well, that's now the same scenario with us and Bama, except we are now Oregon in the Texas/Oregon discussion.

This, only we actually deserve to be ahead of Bama, unlike Oregon being ahead of us.

    Nah.

    Let’s go meteor.

Or a nil-nil draw with 10 red cards.

This is the answer.  Nil-nil is always the desired result when two highly positioned clubs not named Arsenal play.  Second best result is Spuds 1-nil over City, but that's like rooting for aggy to beat Bama.
