This dude needs to take a step back from stalking women online and relax. Holy fuck.

Asking what kind of pie we would hypothetically be fighting over is now stalking?  I'm not going to lie and pretend that I don't know what you are referencing, and I can see from your avatar why that was the first context that popped into your head.  Unfortunately it wasn't the first though that popped into mine while I was literally enjoying a slice of leftover key lime.  Otherwise I might have chosen not to attempt to lighten the mood with a random post about holiday desserts.

The story is still being written about QE. One thing he has as  an advantage is Sark. Colt had GDGD. I shudder to think what QE would look like in GDGD’s offense. It nearly got Colt killed. I have eaten crow on QE and I think he’s coming along fairly well. I think the best thing for both UT and his development would be to come back next year. I do worry about his durability which is a fair question especially in the SEC. I think he’s not ready for the NFL at this time. I don’t want to fight over it like the last piece of pie leftover from Thanksgiving though. I’m just glad we have the roster we do and are gaining the ability to reload. I’m just not as attached to QE emotionally as I ever was/will be to Colt or VY. And some of that has to do with the rumors that he was going pro this coming year. I appreciate though having him at QB and hope he stays. He will only continue to improve and we will continue to improve as a team.

    Wait, what kind of pie?

All you people rooting for another matchup against OU, be careful what you wish for

Our playoffs started the week after they beat us.  I think most of us are ecstatic to be in this position, and don't really care who we play.  If it's OU, then we will get a chance for redemption for our only loss, with more of a SOS boost than what we would get with OkSt.  If it's OkSt, then we will have an opportunity to leave the conference with scoreboard on everyone.  There are positives to playing either.  The only negative is the same one that exists in every game.

Get your kerosene ready because I fear that’s exactly what’s gonna happen

The only way two teams from the same conference are getting in is if FSU does not go undefeated and one of the other conference champs has at least two losses.  That could happen, but in that scenario, we are either getting in as a one-loss champ, or will have at least one more loss, so won't deserve a spot.  There is no plausible scenario where we win our next two games and are left out over 2 teams from the same conference.

I don’t believe a 1 loss conference champion Texas loses out to a 1 loss non champ Georgia when there’s a common opponent to further differentiate.

i do think that if fsu can win these next 2, that they’ll get the nod. Didn’t know that UF is without its qb but beating them at home and then…Clemson Louisville… with your backup qb would be enough to say they should still be there based on their season, even without Travis.

Why is our RS sophomore QB not showing the poise of a 5th or 6 year senior is the argument? I think he could be better but it’s silly to write him off, just as it is to say Maalik isn’t ready

Technically he is a RS sophomore, but having to change systems after the RS year means he's really not even that.  Like most of you, I don't understand the premature comparisons to QBs who have vastly more experience and are having career years.

This.  How is this so difficult?  Absent some crazy shit the PAC, big 10 and SEC have a spot.  Our only reasonably probable path is FSU losing.

I suppose you could hope for 1) Iowa to beat the tOSU/Michigan winner or 2) Oregon st to beat Oregon and then Washington loses in the PAC championship to Arizona, or 3) Auburn beats bama who then blows out Georgia, but I'm not gonna hold my breath on any of those scenarios.

We win 2, FSU loses one.  That's the way.

I don't think your scenario for the PAC qualifies as "crazy shit."  I'm not saying it will happen, but Oregon St. beating Oregon isn't crazy, and honestly, Arizona beating Washington isn't either.  FSU is the more likely path, but there is plenty of meaningful football to be played that will decide this, including by us.

The argument that Ewers is only looks good because of the talent surrounding him can basically be said about all the current top teams outside of Daniels, Maye and Williams (he’s cooled of here recently tho). Penix is a 6th year guy and has a super talented wr core around him and a good RB. Nix is also 30 years old and leads the nation with 65%(!!!) of his passing yards coming after the catch. Michigan didn’t throw a pass last week after the half, Ewers could do that. I’ve seen nothing from the Florida st, Ohio st or Georgia QB’s that screams elite.

Does Ewers need to get better in some areas of his game if he wasn’t to succeed at the next level? Yes. But the notion that he can’t continue to progress is absurd. He’s night and day different from last year. It’s funny that the same people who were done with him last year and screaming for Malik are now spouting we should move on and let Arch take the keys.

This.  Football is a team sport.  The only stat that matters is 10-1.  Yes we will lose a lot of talent this year.  We also have a lot of talent ready fill the void.

I want OU. These leftover fuckfaces wont even have a dog in the fight as we cropdust the conference on our way out. Plus I doubt it would matter, but if we were to obliterate the only team we lost to it could potentially make a difference in the playoff picture.

I like this thought, and it comes with the added benefit of giving us the opportunity to avenge our one loss, which may be a small factor in whether we make it into the CFP.  On the other hand, not getting to play OkSt, means they would be the only left behind team with scoreboard over us, courtesy of their win last season.

Ultimately, I care most about beating Tech.  If that happens, I won't really give a shit who we play.

  10. X-win Exteban, though I'm hoping for 13-win Ptheven.  Should we somehow manage 14 (or 15 in future seasons), we'll have to get creative.

From the Debby Downer contingent, while CTJ missed on the number of expected losses as well as the opponents that would be producing them, his prediction that we would lose to at least one of the listed is still in play.  Let's hope this isn't a "spike the ball before crossing the goal line" situation.

*Let’s agree to call it “his final season of high school eligibility”.

Quinn was a red-shirt junior when he hurried back from injury for the playoffs. He turned 18 that spring and should have been graduating, but like VY after we won the national championship, Quinn decided to forego his final year of eligibility to declare that he was ready to get paid.

Age and getting paid are not the same as meaningful experience.

'20-'21 Games played as a HS Junior: 8
'21-'22 Games played while getting paid by tOSU: 0

Having zero game experience in a completely different system during his true freshman season likely didn't add much to Quinn's preparedness for his first action as the Longhorns QB.  If he is going to be compared to other QBs, it should be limited to those who have started fewer than 20 games, have had injuries that limit games played and effectiveness, and are in their second season under their current coaching staff.

I'm not sure who checks all of those boxes, but I suspect that Quinn would favorably compare.  Anyone expecting much more than we are getting from him at this point has unrealistic expectations.

Quinn is 8-1 on the season.

    Quinn is injured.

    Quinn continues to improve.

    Quinn is far from perfect.

Quinn is improving before our eyes    You said that already, but no harm in emphasizing it.

, but is far from ready for the NFL.  He's not ready to start for anyone in the NFL, but that doesn't mean he's not ready to be in the NFL.  The situation matters.  If he decides to enter the draft, he will be considered a project, as he should be.  If he returns and develops as we expect, the hope is that he performs at a level where he could conceivably contribute early.

Both he and the Surly community would benefit greatly if he returns for another year of improvement.    I would have referenced his positive impact on the team more so than Surly, but I suppose that is implied.

i get that, but hes winning in the sense that nobody likes him, they all want to vote him out, but he's still there.  they all know he has an idol, want to flush it out, but never do.   the girls should have stayed loyal to their alliance.  have no idea what advantage they think it is to them to keep boston jake and give up kellie.  dumb move.

    He's definitely surviving...for now.

I think that it was this thread that had screenshots of ags talking about:

    1) Turning Longhorn items in Academy stores Upside-Down and/or Backwards on the rack.

    2) Wanting to fuck with a dead man’s Longhorn lapel pin at an open casket funeral.

    Well…

Last night I stopped into the Buc-ee’s in Temple on my drive back up to Dallas from the USA 🇺🇸 vs Trinidad & Tobago 🇹🇹 soccer game and wandered upon this:

    IMG_0293.thumb.jpeg.c20cd21192c34862065603e97b5e9ffe.jpeg

    College magnets, except…

    IMG_0295.thumb.jpeg.5747bc945330889decd6f2c3b4fec107.jpeg

…apparently two magnets were too intimidating, so…

    IMG_0294.thumb.jpeg.12b5e5ce6dc0cbc226e7b6bc84841329.jpeg

…someone had taken the time to flip the front Texas Longhorn magnets upside down.

    🙄

I showed this to my elderly mother (who grew up in the Midwest and didn’t move to Texas until after college and stints in Chicago & NYC) and when she grasped what had happened she said:

”That just shows how inferior they [aggies] feel.”

It made you start singing this in your head, didn't it?

Surprised there isn’t a thread or discussion about Gilded Age. It’s the best show currently on TV IMO. The 2nd season has been even better than the first. The Opera War between the old money Academy of Music and the nouveau riche Met that’s challenging its place is a great story arc. Love the Newport summer party scenes as well.

I saw it mentioned in another thread somewhere from the beginning of season 1, but not much positive, so I didn't revive it.  I'm enjoying it.  Neither the acting, nor the the storylines are quite as good as Downton Abby, but that would be difficult to match.
