Heart issues pending, Self is only 60. Titles won past 60:

- Calhoun: two
- Williams: one
- Pitino: one
Championships sure matter, but I'm willing to bet that if Self coaches 10-15 more years, he wins at least one more. He likely won't catch Coach K, but tied for second in the post-Wooden era surely puts him in the conversations for top-three best of all-time (Wooden, K, Self).
He certainly has his teams in a position to win one almost every year. One could argue that he should have more at this point, but I'm sure we would all be happy to live with that.

I think the only quibble regarding his record is that he only has 2 championships. That said, only 4 coaches have more since the Wooden era, and only 10 have won more than 1. They are apparently difficult to win.
Mike Krzyzewski 5 Bob Knight 3 Jim Calhoun 3 Roy Williams 3 Bill Self 2 Billy Donovan 2 Dean Smith 2 Denny Crum 2 Jay Wright 2 Rick Pitino 2 -

I'm just glad Ewers went with Merle Haggard and not Loverboy.

I agree with Vic. Spend what you would on Ohtani by re-signing Garver and improving pitching depth. If we do sign Ohtani, I'll enjoy that too, but I do not think it is the best use of stupid money.

What the hell are they doing? Don't they know I'm trying to keep my expectations in check?

So was UH. If our starting QB and other players keep turning the ball over, we can absolutely lose to TCU. I also don't love, that like UH, their game before was on a Thursday so they have extra prep time.
I expect to win even with Maalik because we are better. But we better cut the turnovers out. A couple pick sixes could cost us dearly.
All of this, plus we rarely bury teams when we aren't playing at home.

I'd like to keep Garver and Montgomery. A few of the role plyers can stay if there aren't available upgrades.

yeah, i get all that. but what would it take, what was her mindset, to write down the name of the only ally in the game you have? that must have been unnerving, unless there were some conversations edited out.
Her mindset, as it has always been, was "what is best for my game." Emily is very analytical and strategic, and is always playing the game. Her problem is that she tends to play her game out loud, though she is starting to reign that in a bit.

First game attended was in 1972. I was 5. I'd have to post a long cat to list all of my favorite players, but a few from the early years were Lenny Randle, Toby Harrah, Jeff Burroughs, Mike Hargrove, Fergie Jenkins, and Jim Sundberg. Good times.

I don't see the logic in attempting to diminish the accomplishments of a team that just beat you when it mattered most. I'd be trying to forget too, were I in your shoes. In case you need a reminder:

Well not that shocked.
The Rangers weren't going to let the Astros have all of them. Don't worry, You still have most of them.

i didnt understand why she didnt vote for j. that would have been the end of it with no revote needed. i'm guessing she didnt want to put a target on her back. kind of a cowardly "go along to get along" thing.
Emily is having to pivot to an "under the radar" strategy with no natural allies left other than Kaleb, which means demonstrating that she is willing to work with others. It almost bit her in the ass, though. Either she was confident that J would get at least one vote from someone else, that J would become the obvious target on a revote, or she didn't bother thinking about the contingencies if Kaleb won his shot in the dark.
Regardless, the remaining Lulus live to fight another day. Sometimes a bigger threat emerges after something like this, but obviously it is in Kaleb's best interest to find an advantage or win immunity for the foreseeable future.
I still think Kaleb and Emily are getting favorable editing, but that episode certainly tested my faith.

As a player, sure. Are we certain about this as a coach? Dude makes some puzzling lineup choices and he continues to do that this year.
You are saying the same thing differently. Knowing how to play the game =/= knowing how to coach other people to play the game =/= knowing how to get the most out of any given group of players.

Yep. As I said, winning a championship is hard. Maybe one day, we'll get there.
