  1. Again, herbie is too blinded by hatred to understand what I actually said. He’s clearly someone that weightlifts or powerlifts as a hobby and is aiming to push his body to its absolute limits. That’s someone that should be using belts, straps, chalk. Like I said. If you’re just interested in staying in shape, staying strong, as I imagine most on here are, that stuff is unnecessary.

Exactly. Since I switched to tempo work, gloves, straps, weight belt - have all gone away. My joints all feel better and I’m functionally moving better than I have in a very long time. I’m down from 239 (Jan of this year) to 208 (today). I’m 47 and will never try to squat 2x my body weight again. I have no need to.

  2. Unless you’re comparing them to the gay Dems you know, I think it’s the gay part and not the ex-Republican part that makes them fun to hang out with socially. Not entirely, because there’s a lot of diversity in the gay community just as in any other, but in my experience gay folks are generally pretty fun to party with. But I can’t say I’ve ever hung out with a gay Republican, current or former (afaik).

I have and it was really strange. He had pictures with GW Bush and had some autographed stuff from Bush Sr. He lives in Towne Lake, so the politics sorta track.
  3. Yuki last in Q1. It's amazing how bad the 2nd RB is.

At this point - it’s the car. This is the third driver that cannot drive that car and the set up they’ve built.

  4. Thoughts in high reps/light weight workouts?  Often times I’ll just grab 30 lb dumbbells and bench to failure. Not trying to be in any contrast.  Just want to be active

Try tempo work over very high reps. 12 - 15 reps with a 3 second tempo.

  5. Crazy what a house of cards the presidency and the world’s oldest democracy really was.
All it took was a racist TV ‘billionaire’ charlatan narcissist simpleton to completely break it.
I truly believed that we, through all our faults, were a city in a hill. There was nothing intrinsically better about Americans, but the system we built was better. That process mattered enough that even given our human frailties we always ‘bent towards freedom.’
    Nope. Shit in. Shit out.
We do not have the raw materials to make this work anymore.
The American populous has become rotten to the core and even with the process we have you can’t turn feces into diamonds.

I disagree. We were a city on a hill if you were / are a white male. Beyond that - living in America was not all rosey. Hell, dead people have more bodily autonomy than women in a lot of states.

  6. Have become a Max fan again now that he’s not in the God mode car.  Heading to Monaco.  Bucket list stuff.

Paddock? Yacht? General admin on the hills?
  7. The OSHA rule (which was a epidemiological reasoning hot mess) literally had to get litigated at the Supreme Court.
The lack of attention span is amazing.
    Amazing but not surprising.

OSHA rule regarding masks was applied to companies, not the whole country. Reading comprehension much?

  8. The work thing was not limited to Gov't.
Then there was the face flag/ mask thingy that was awesome. Then add in unnecessary school/ business shut-downs.

I love how revisionist/ forgetful people become, as if we didn't live it.

The vaccine mandate by Biden was government. Companies had their own rules. Other countries had their own rules.

Same with masks - there was not a government mask mandate for the country. It was recommended. There were local and state mandates.

  9. My 28 yr old gray market Seamaster started skipping the date ahead 2 or 3 days each day. Guess I need it worked on again. Had it serviced 8-9 years ago and it was ~$1000 and I sent it someplace back east.  The local Omega shop won’t touch it.  Any good local (Houston) independent watchmakers that folks trust?

You could try The Little Watch shop on Shepard.

  10. Vaccine mandate strategy under Biden resulted in obvious outcomes. This was all litigated here in real time. Attention span is hard.

There was not a vaccine mandate for the country. There were sectors that were mandatory for work in the government, but that was it. The average American wasn’t forced by the government to get vaccinated.

  11. My soon to be 14 year old is finishing up 8th grade today. 4 more years left of being his learning coach. Even on the hard days, I wouldn’t change it.
