  1. Can someone with strong religious beliefs explain to me what people mean when they said they "spoke with God" or that "God spoke to them"? I've always assumed they mean they had a feeling and that "God spoke to me" is a turn of phrase like "I'm starving to death." Not meant literally, just a way to emphasis something that is felt very strongly in any given moment. But these days I'm starting to think people actually interpret their strong feelings as literal voices. Surely there aren't that many people with true psychological issues hearing voices in their head that they legitimately contribute to a literal God.

Couple of old friends from high school that posted similar things the other day:

They both said something along the lines of “I had this feeling and knew it was God telling me” to pull over or something that saved them money… those types pass their own situational judgement on to their god.

On the other hand, I worked with a lady who had a cultish church and they had people that their god spoke through them in tongues and she would help translate these events. Yes, folks, she did this at work.

So, really it’s all across the board of who gets to talk to their god.

  2. Not enough care to give to verify, but was LeClerc trying to thread the needle so he'd finish above Perez but Perez in front of George after the penalty?
I assume that was the only scenario that Ferrari jumps Merc - if Perez splits the two and otherwise, Merc wins. Commend the effort but quite the task.

    Basically.

  3. I was not impressed with Vegas. The race was good - but how much of that was due to the early safety car? Lewis moving through the pack twice was cool - but again - safety car got the field bunched up.

  4. It’s true. And all that money is trickling down where when they die off?  To every Gen Xr on this board.  Will probably even be able to continue to afford those nuggies at these exorbitant prices.

A board full of people with solid portfolios bitching about the investor class and how the same co’s their invested in are killing it, will never not be funny.  Enjoy your XOM divs  while bitching about gas prices and the climate. Fuck outta here.

But it’s not. All of that money is going to end of life care. Thats the next massive wealth transfer is boomers to retirement homes / communities/ companies.

  5. There's a difference between earning a profit as a business, and stealing wages from workers to pass onto investors as """record profits""". I appreciate that you can't discuss this in good faith and so need to continually lie and misrepresent my position, so I look forward to explaining this to you again soon, farty.

I’d love to see profits confiscated from companies that have too many employees on government assistance. You should not be allowed to be a welfare company and have record profits.

  6. I coach U13 boys. A few weeks ago, a ref let a game get out of hand. Goalie came out for a hard charge. Ref called a penalty on the goalie (outside the box). Problem was a kid on the opposing team ran up and shoved the goalie. Kid should have gotten a red. Things escalated and ended up with a mom hitting a player about 5 minutes later. Ref ends the game early.

  7. He’s not. You’re not willing to change the definition of middle class. Middle class no longer means you can afford a home in a nice area, etc. upper income is still upper class - just what we can afford comfortably has changed. I’m not dropping $200k on a 911 turbo. The middle is still middle.
