  1. Yep. My high school friends mostly smoked Marlboro Lights, but I smoked Camel Lights. They tasted so much better. Plus there was that bearded peeing guy on the camel’s leg.

Marlboro Lights until I became the door guy at Flying Saucer in downtown Houston. The Camel rep would bring be two packs a night when she was out and about. Free > what I liked.
  2. Why not get the cheapest Denon or Marantz receiver that is made and a pair B&W 607 S3 or older 2-ways? Older subs if wanted are a dime a dozen.

I went Denon and splurged on the Amp because I wanted it connected HEOS system and I can upgrade speakers etc later. I grabbed a pair of Klipsch bookshelf speakers off of Amazon.
  3. I’ll put some info together and message ya’ll.

Long and short of it is my wife and her brother are looking into selling the family business. Their father has introduced them to a broker (I think), but I don’t know if what he is asking for is reasonable.

I just want some second opinions and possibly another option to work through this.

Thank you for the help - this is really new territory for us.

  4. I was wrong. From this point forward, I’ll call whiny, know it all SIL the moocher SIL and the druggie SIL Druggie SIL.
Moocher SIL just tried to give my border collie CBD because she “needs to chill”. Hey bitch, she’s a border collie. She has no chill.
Moocher SIL and old sugar daddy are in fact here for some reason. Druggist SIL is already half a bottle of Evan Williams deep.

    What size bottle?
  5. This past July, traded in my F-150 a used 2021 Toyota Tundra. I looked at the new body style, but I have always been a fan of the 2nd gen body. I wanted something that looked good and would be reliable. All I have read/heard about he 5.7L V8 was "hell of an engine", "will last forever", etc. Only drawback is the gas mileage, but I don't drive a truck to save gas.  This is how she looks now...going to install a leveling kit soon and possibly go from the 20-inch wheels to 18.

    Enjoy! I love mine.
  6. I have a bak-flip that someone from here gave me. It’s done great, but time to replace it. It keeps all of my soccer team’s gear dry and I can lock the tail gate.

  7. I thought I made it pretty clear upthread, but like most things, I’ll be just fine.

You may be, but they are going to have an infinitely harder life. OBGYN’s are leaving and are not being replaced. You may be able to fly your 3 daughters to an out of state OBGYN for check ups, but others can’t. What happens when Texas out laws birth control and they may need it?

If I had a daughter, we would already be gone. As it stands, we will be around to vote against these assholes for a little longer and then bounce if it does not improve here.

  8. Is there a bottom, or a low for you? Is there anything that the career conman and criminal insurrectionist could do to lose your vote?

He’s a single issue voter - guns. He’s said as much. He also claims taxes, but his taxes are going up thanks to Trump’s 2017 tax plan… unless he’s 1%.

  9. Can someone with strong religious beliefs explain to me what people mean when they said they "spoke with God" or that "God spoke to them"? I've always assumed they mean they had a feeling and that "God spoke to me" is a turn of phrase like "I'm starving to death." Not meant literally, just a way to emphasis something that is felt very strongly in any given moment. But these days I'm starting to think people actually interpret their strong feelings as literal voices. Surely there aren't that many people with true psychological issues hearing voices in their head that they legitimately contribute to a literal God.

Couple of old friends from high school that posted similar things the other day:

They both said something along the lines of “I had this feeling and knew it was God telling me” to pull over or something that saved them money… those types pass their own situational judgement on to their god.

On the other hand, I worked with a lady who had a cultish church and they had people that their god spoke through them in tongues and she would help translate these events. Yes, folks, she did this at work.

So, really it’s all across the board of who gets to talk to their god.
