  1. 1. This is West Texas. All day long. I'm sure I've met average girls from out west, but none come to mind. Every one of 'em love it. If they do, then I do. That's the reason I started to listen to C&W music.
  2. This. Drove from Tulsa to Bull Shoals in 1980. Didn't listen to the olds and took the most "direct route" through ther mountains. Big mistake. Huge. Thought I was gonna yack for 2 hours, nothing but curvy, hilly roads. Very scenic, would have been better off staying on the hiways and buying a magazine.
  3. Loved the presser! Sark reminds me of ... the Terminator. Situational awareness, always gathering and processing information. Picking the right tool and using it for its intended purpose. The wheel route to Bijan was a TD before the snap. Texas will out coach teams, for the first time, since when? DKR, Fayetteville, '69?
  4. Here is my welcome to Texas in 1974.
  5. As Fred used to say, "They better have their head gear strapped on tight."
  6. When your kids by you a crystal decanter for Father’s Day, you use it.
  7. Sorry for the derail; I agree, ... but one of the best lines ever in a movie,
  8. My observations: Bijan reminds me of going on Folsom field and seeing Ricky up close for the first time. Can't wait. Note the difference between the Texas running back and the former Alabama back. Help me!!! Watching DeMarvion Overshown run reminds me of ... I hate to say... Curtis Dickey. I need a better parallel! His F=ma is gonna fuck some people up. Casey's shorter throws tend to have the nose of the ball down. Seems peculiar. DKR looks great. The unpainted facade on the upper deck has bothered me for 40 damn years. Not any more.
  9. Great season. Tuff loss. MSU got a hit and we didn't; simple as that. Though they fell a bit short, they played well and represented themselves in a very admirable manner. Lotsa praise from outsiders, reluctant recogition that Texas played well in all facets of the game, especially the small ball dynamic that is not a staple of SEC teams. Ivan's HR is legendary. This was a very good Team, one of the best Texas has sent to Omaha in a long while. My biggest complaint is the parade of looking at called third strikes. Perhaps introduce watching game film of prior games as a cool for performance improvement.
  10. Douche. Bad Karma, Bad Image. That's the shit we'll see forever instead of so many more favorable (sweet) things.
  11. Relax. Take a deep breath. Fix your twisted panties. Okay.
  12. My observations from last night: Zubia & Melendez breaking out of their slumps is muy bueno. Antico personifies what a baseball player should be. Melendez's shot reminded me of Pujols' shot off of Brad Lidge. Not sure about Pierce's thought processes. Watching so many close 3rd strikes is aggravating as hell! Swing the @#$%(&* bat!!! Lotsa short sighted beer drinkers on here (ran out). A few short sighted weed smokers on here (ran out). Whiskey drinkers choose between options, don't fret about running out. Winner!!! Having history & tradition on your side sure feels good. Are we home or visitors tonight? It don't make a shit!!!
  13. Nice!!!
  14. Elevation in Tempe is 1,140–1,495'. I would think the very dry climate would affect the ball more than the elevation. Texas & Vanderbilt have the best pitching. Texas's 2.89 ERA (1st) was almost half a run better that Vanderbilt's 3.37 (6th), and was the only ERA in baseball below 3.00. Texas (3.71), Arizona (3.33), & Vanderbilt (3.30) outscored their opponents by more tha 3 runs/game, (MSU 2.59). I focus more on pitching, as hitting is heavily influenced by the individual ballparks. IIRC, any ball hit at Disch-Falk within 10 feet of the warning track would be a home run at Tennessee. We learned a long time ago you need a deep staff to win the CWS. You can get there with less, but without a 3rd starter and bullpen, your going to have to score a bunch of runs to win. Every team has 1 good starter, who can beat your ace on any given day; if its the 1st game, that's a bitch. Hook 'Em!
  15. There's plenty of blame to go around. ERCOT is a traffic director, no more and no less. They have as much chance of controlling the supply & demand as a beat cop has of stopping a speeding bus. They manage resources, sometimes good and sometimes bad. The Supply & Demand issues: Supply: No argument against "all of the above." Wind & Solar are great when they produce and useless when they don't. More available power generation would not have mattered since most of the "peak shaving" facilities are fueled with natural gas. It is ironic that natural gas facilities REQUIRE electricity to operate. The migration from on-site power generation to purchased power was essentially complete 20 years ago, driven by power generation economies of scale, both from efficiency and emissions perspectives. We have a circular system where gas production needs electricty so we can produce more gas to make more electricty. Put another way, should oil & gas production facilities be prioritized with hospitals, schools and 1st responders? Imagine the push back when the energy companies get power when schools, homes & businesses are cut off. There is a practical limit ($$$) to preventing lines from freezing. Not every well and every pipeline is "heat traced", nor should they be. Natural gas is produced saturated with water vapor; until you remove the water, hydrates are a concern. This is done at larger, centralized facilities. Unless the power supply is available 100% of the time, there is always a probability of freezing. If it goes down for 30 minutes, you're $%^&*@!!! Demand: Ignoring equipment efficiencies 🙁, It takes twice the power to heat a home from 10 ℉ to 68 ℉ than to cool it from 100 ℉ to 76 ℉. 100 ℉ is the norm in Texas, 10 ℉ is not. When we were supposed to be conserving power, every home that had power had their swimming pool equipment running 24/7. I don't know one person that stepped up and voluntarily shut off their pool equipment, yet everyone of them had equipment damaged from freezing. Downtown office towers were vacant, heated, and well lit because thet were on the same grid as hospitals and other core facilities. One is not like the other. We need a smarter grid. Buckle your seatbelts, Dorothy!!! I imagine a lot of stuff that got broke in February is not fixed yet, which means the power supply available will be challenged this summer. Take personal responsibility for your actions (like that's going to happen, Ha! Ha!) Maybe just try not to get caught with your pants down.
  16. Great night for some good baseball. Great crowd, strong pitching, good defense, and some timely hitting. Great seats for the ninth inning excitement. Hard to tell how far the homerun went, but it was in the air a long time. Sark and Loreal were sitting behind us. Yeah, I know, they were in the air conditioned suite, but still behind us.
  17. Re: Fisher going on an African Safari in July I thought of Jamie Foxx in The Kingdom. gifs, memes, comments? Whatcha got?

  19. Apologies, photo by Apple, not Nikon. Rest easy; from my observations it would appear the SEZ was built correctly and the new construction is symmetrical for those of you having trouble sleeping at night. The straight red line on the photo is drawn from the north goal post to the top centerline of the new SEZ My observations & opinion (BSME '79😞 0. It looks $%^& assume. Can't help but wonder what it looks like from the $10 Million seats! 1. The structural portion of the stadium, new & old, is aligned and positioned correctly. Everything is square and plumb as it should be. We're Texas!!! 2. The "football field" itself is not properly "centered" within the structure. The south goal post is too far west by ~ 1-3 ft. Either its just the goal post, or the whole field is not centered withing the 4 walls of DKR. From my vantage point, and with nothing to measure with other than a Coors Light can, it is hard to pinpoint the center of the north endzone. I used the north end zone goal post and assumed the goal post itself was correctly positioned in relation to DKR, the structure, and the recognize the goal post itself may or may not be correctly positioned on Campbell-Williams Field. Given that the current field was "laid and/or painted" 10+ years ago and the amount of constructions since then, that's a possibility. 3. My money says move the goal post. 4. Dammit. I just realized the "X" and "A" of the "TEXAS" in the north end zone are touching!
  20. Cut & pasted from other posts, ... Johnny “Lam” Jones, 1978 Olympic Gold Medalist, 4x100 Relay. Lam scored eight touchdowns of 45 yards or more in his career in the burnt orange. On the track, Jones scored 29 points during the 1977 SWC Championships and ran a 9.85 100 meters during the 1977 Texas Relays. His 9.85 100 meter time was not accepted for record purposes, as the cable to the time clock had been “spiked” by a shoe. Johnny won an Olympic Gold Medal at age 18, before he played for UT. I cannot remember what other Olympic Gold Medalists played college football as a medalist at UT, or any other place. While many are characterized with “Olympic Speed”, Johnny is one of the few college football players, if not the only one, with an Olympic Gold Medal to prove it. IIRC, when he practiced for the 220/200 in high school, he would run down the football field, sling around the goal post, and run back.
