  1. I do agree with your points. To support point 2 above I'll provide a well written and comprehensive NYT link below. Again, devil is in the details, I am supportive of Isreal, but I am not supportive of the current Isreali administration. I am also against Hamas and their Qatar support which is a big aspect of the Palestinian discussion. The reason why I used the word entanglement is because its exactly that, a messy web. It's why I chose to break out that specific aspect among many. The entire thing is extremely convoluted and addressing one aspect at a time is really the only way to discuss it, imo. Hamas and Isreal link by NYT
  2. Fair, and because the devil is in the details I think it best to break all these out into individual aspects. My first question, speaking as a US citizen who is supportive of Isreal, I take massive issues with the intertwined aspects of Hamas and the Palestinian Government. So my first question would be, what is the plan as you see it to end this entanglement. I can't see Israel going very far down the road without first addressing this particularly vexing question. You are in all your requests asking for all of it, 100% of the Palestinian demands. I think starting with release of mutual prisoners is a great starting point. Prior to any next big steps that involves Israel giving up something there must be a give and take. Hamas is the elephant in the room and as such I'm firmly of the opinion that it likely must be addressed early in the conversation.
  3. Add Ryan Leaf, Marshawn Lynch and Mark Ingram for me minus Donald and Lyght. Hampton was probably the nicest, legit friendly and talked to anyone Longhorn I ever met. Based on some shows I've seen him in and interviews Lynch seems like a supremely cool human. I forgot he went to Cal. Ingram was a fucking beast. Edit - and yeah... 2001 Canes were fucking loaded.
  4. Well, let's get a little more clarity around the regional aspects of "rare species". The Bigfoot is commonly "found" in the Appalachian regions of Tennessee, Kentucky and to a larger degree West Virginia. So as not to he exclusionary, they are also "found" in the western parts of the Carolinas and Virginia. However, please note, northern Alabama and Georgia have been known for "sightings" as well. Edit- Last I "checked" there was no anti-chemtrail legislation in any of those states. What about Mississippi you might ask.... Well, it's best just to leave them to their own devices and not "probe" too deeply.
  5. Come on man, we've moved on to more pressing issues plaguing the poor people of Louisiana! Won't you think of the children and their enslavement by the global Illuminati cabal!!!!
  6. They're a goodly number that marvel on this phenomenon right here on Surly. Every. Damn. Year. With absolutely zero reason for it occurring. HOWEVER, on the flip side, it absolutely contributes to the roller-coaster build up in off season and for that I am eternally grateful.
  7. Need to fill this out. Exposition: June-August - Refresh mythology of "Nattys", dream up new Heisman winners, rant lies about BOMC, belittle "mercenaries". Rising Action: Late August-Mid October - Create mythology of scrub teams defeated being "Natty" contenders, celebrate "near" victory over only OOC opponent anyone knows, confirm "certainty" of Heisman QB despite all evidence to contrary, shart shit bagging "Heisman" QB if evidence is overwhelming, complain about top 25 ranking and BOMC, talk about Texas weak schedule. Climax: Oct- End of Nov Change QB to new "Heisman contender", Expansive mythology creation on team, complain a lot more about Texas weak SEC schedule and BOMC regarding top 25 ranking. Falling Action: Thanksgiving Multiple myths created about refs, close game mythology despite all evidence to the contrary, complain even more about Texas' "week" SEC schedule, shit copiously on SEC commissioner for being "tu lackey", use massive revisionist history to cope with 8-5 season.
  8. Long and detailed multiple posts about those players being shitty players and/or horrible "mercenaries" exploding on Texags in 3.... 2....
  9. Those are to be addressed after the legislators of Louisiana pass the bill to expose the flat earth documents. A more looming threat currently is the Swampness Monster, Chupacabeaux, and Bayou Foot.
  10. I was on my motorcycle heading to a horseback ride in northwest Yellowstone about 6 years ago. I came around a corner on a thin mostly dirt with a bit of gravel road without any shoulders. Across the middle of the road stood a Moose nibbling on a tree. He slowly changed his gaze towards me. Summed me up, turned back to the tree slow and easy like. He then took another bite of whatever was on the tree, then, slowly, real damn casual strolled off never giving me a second look. I'm not prone to sudden freezing during high stress situations. I was fucked if he got mad. I think he thought "everyone look what's going down". So.... like a good puny human, I waited.
  11. That broad stroke brings up something I've struggled with in this discussion. Well, two items. First, the Pro-Palestinian protestors often hold signs saying "Free Palestinian". Well, I'm all about freedom, I think the actions and things being done by the Isreali government are horrible. That said, what do they mean by Free Palestine? I get that complex ideas can't be conveyed in a protest slogan, but I'm not clear what exactly the protesters would like to occur. I mean the details. I'll own that my investigation in understanding isn't particularly deep, but where can I find their platform ideology. Second is there have been some Hamas flags at some of the events. It isn't a lot, but it has happened. I'll start with a broad question. Can we agree Hamas is bad? If so, why would Pro-Palestine protesters allow them to attend and fly those flags at their events?
  12. @SL Xpress I agree with all the points in your post. Seriously. My summation was done in haste prior to leaving so it was muddy at best. I think what you're pointing out is a fantastic and a topic of absolutely worthy deeper discussion. However, your last point and in broader aspect the polarization of such topics make open and honest dialog difficult at best. For example, if someone is pro-Isreal, but not pro the current Isreali government that distinction is lost. If someone recognizes the brutality and issues of the current Isreali government but at the same time points out the issue with Hamas and their backing of Palestinian attacks on Isreal and to a lesser degree Palestinian policy in general, that distinction is also lost. In both examples and many others individuals will look at a smaller aspect of a point someone is making and lob that person wholesale into a particular camp. Frequently, they throw that position into the "dumb idiot enemy who I should ignore or chastise". Because the devil is in the details and many people hate to be bothered with details, real discussion is nearly impossible most of the time.
  13. @PTINS Extremely strong post my man!
  14. You got to it prior to my response. You're basically asking a zealot nut job to have distinction in his insane plan of violence. I would also add that it isnt JUST the policy of the government thats causing issue for Jewish people in the US. I'm of the firm opinion that the strong and clear anti-Isreal sentiment among certain political and non-political parties is contributing heavily. Joe public doesn't pay any attention to detail and thus the devil in the detail is lost. Those already inclined to dislike people of the Jewish faith have their positions bolstered by a perception (accurate or not) that its now a popular opinion/position. Its certainly adding to antisemitic ideas in the broader strokes. Though I am fully capable of understanding that's not the ideological foundation of all pro-Palestinian supporters. The detail are being skipped over.
  15. Ask them to see a passport?
  16. If Vegas actually had a line on future players success in broad strokes, they would hedge a medium because way too much is unknown. Similarly, because of all the drama, the lines would likely be bet pretty evenly success vs failure. User name does not check out. You keep saying the prognostications already have him doing nothing in the NFL. That's mostly coming from you and not the media or fans at large. The media and general public seems to be pretty evenly split on success vs failure aside from the 2 things almost everyone agrees upon. First, whatever his future holds, if success is a part of it, it won't be in Cleveland. The second is it will be an adjustment for him being coached by someone not named Deion. The rest of your jibber doesn't match well with reality. Edit - So I'm clear, I watched him play a LOT and I can tell you I'd much rather have Dillion Gabriel playing QB for the Longhorns or Cowboys than Shadeur. Take that to mean whatever you like.
  17. I shan't lie. Often, when dealing with the excessive wild roses on my property, I really crave a flamethrower. Does that make me evil? I submit those roses are the bane of humanity. Well, at least my humanity.
  18. I have it on good authority they've been putting the next round in imported Toyotas being sold to members of Putin's cabal.
  19. I wasn't lending credence to that tweet/tweeter nor attacking it. I've honestly never had a Twitter account. Wasn't commenting on your take either. Just pointing out fact vs fiction based on what I consider a very reputable news source.
  20. Don't take it up with me, write Reuters a sternly worded letter.
  21. Reuters Link Broadly the facts seem correct, but no children were mentioned in the Reuter's info on the attack.
  22. Get off my lawn.
  23. Well, sure but think about the jail house and NA chat about the topic. What are you in for? Hi, my name is Flight Attendant Mike, and I'm a narcotics addict.
  24. Pro-tip, just get some Ghost Pepper oil and carry it in a TSA legal 3 Oz spray bottle.
