At this point you're basically just wishcasting that the power vacuum would magically be filled by someone kind and aligned with US interests. History teaches that US intervention is almost never beneficial for the targeted nation. We have never been "greeted as liberators."
There is almost no upside for getting involved.
Do you hold the same position for the Ukraine? Are you unable to see how this helps the Ukraine? Do you hold the same position on the leadership of Russia as Iran? Do you object to US involvement in Ukraine? Do you also think Israeli leadership should remain status quo?

Pro or con, hopes for diplomacy resolution appear to be wish casting at this point. The rest of the ME has pretty much stepped back from the table other than emphasizing the need for OG production to be unharmed thus allowing Israel to free fly over Iran. The OG caution was essentially fired at both Iran and Israel, which to me implies the oil money is good with Israel taking out Iran, but not Iran's OG. Which tracks as they appear sick of Iran's shit, always hated one another and know it will also filter to the Gaza noise ultimately if the Palestinians power back is removed. I'm extremely confident Israel was dedicated to finishing this one from the onset. All of that helps create some at least perceived stability which is good for OG business.
US leadership heard the battle cry of the OG money men, conviently sided with their only "friend" in the region and put the tankers in the air for the B2s. Trump steps away from G7.
Nothing is of course set in stone, but if anyone sees this differently than I do, I'm open to hearing why they think so.
For the record, I've said it before but for clarification, I'm all for Iranian leadership getting taken down. There are lots of reasons for it. First, I'm personally tired of this can being kicked down the road. I also want the people of Iran out from under that oppressive regime and to hopefully find autonomy. I recognize a new puppet regime could come in or worse group, but like to believe it might not. It also not so indirectly positively help Ukraine and that's great. Finally, I truly believe its better for the west in respect to terror threats.
Edit - I do openly acknowledge this is likely very bad for Palestinians and understand why some would take issue with my perspective. I try looking at the bigger picture and see what is best more most humans while admitting my own/US self interest/preservation bias.

It is what it is - I didn't expect much. Won't be any emmys handed out for this one, but I like dumb, funny 30 minute shows and Skarsgard has some pretty funny lines.
I'm rather enjoying it. No it's not award winning but it's goofy, has some funny internal monologs, quirky characters and silliness. It's a scifi sitcom based on a self aware, "on spectrum" robot that punches at both liberal and conservative ideas.
So, it's bound to ruffle some feathers but I like it.

Yeah, saw that, but that does not show a fire. The first reports were not in the Gulf yet, and not Emirati water. So what got rescued where?
Added some detail but most came from the link below. All info is behind a paywall that I'm not interested enough to pay to see.
From the Reuters link above:
The multinational, U.S.-led Combined Maritime Force's JMIC information centre said in an advisory this week that it had received reports of electronic interference stemming from the vicinity of Iran's Port of Bandar Abbas (in Iran) and other areas in the Gulf region.

Not seeing anything on mainstream about the ships in the Gulf being hit. Anyone else?
Yes.. "electronic interference". Guessing it's to keep investing calm, but perhaps legit. I'm very suspicious of such coincidences. Link added.
Here ya go:
Two oil tankers collide and catch fire near Strait of Hormuz
DUBAI/COPENHAGEN - Two oil tankers collided and caught fire on Tuesday near the Strait of Hormuz, where electronic interference has surged during conflict between Iran and Israel, but there were no injuries to crew or spillage reported.
SpoilerThe United Arab Emirates coast guard said it had evacuated 24 people from one of the ships, Adalynn, to Khor Fakkan port after the crash 24 nautical miles off its eastern coast.
Personnel on the second tanker, the Front Eagle, were reported safe with no pollution seen after a fire on its deck, according to its owner, the Oslo-listed company Frontline (FRO.OL).
The Front Eagle was loaded with 2 million barrels of Iraqi crude oil and was en route to Zhoushan in China, according to monitoring service TankerTrackers.com.
The Adalynn, a Suezmax-class tanker owned by India-based Global Shipping Holding Ltd, had no cargo and was sailing towards the Suez Canal in Egypt, the monitoring service said.
TankerTrackers.com said on X that the Front Eagle was moving southbound at a speed of 13.1 knots when it "executed a starboard (right) turn, resulting in a collision with the port quarter (aft port side)" of the Adalynn, which was proceeding southeast at 4.8 knots.
The Strait of Hormuz links the Gulf to the northwest with the Gulf of Oman to the southeast and the Arabian Sea beyond.
...
Iran has not commented about Tuesday's collision or reports of electronic interference. There was no immediate response to a Reuters request for comment from the Emirati foreign ministry or Khor Fakkan container terminal early on Tuesday.

Top Russian security official holds talks with N.Korea's Kim for second time in two weeks.
Looks to me like both Norks and Orcs are about to double down. I had not heard about the "passenger" train at the end of the article. Found it interesting. "Do you dream of travel? Ever wanted to see the beauty of the Russian empire. We're re-opening our passenger service train for first class travel to visit the beautiful cities in our closest ally's amazing country. Sign up now at your nearest With Love for Un, Travel Services Branch." - Nork TV advertising
SpoilerJune 17 (Reuters) - Sergei Shoigu, a senior Russian security official, held talks with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un for the second time in two weeks on Tuesday and said he was carrying out "special instructions" from President Vladimir Putin.
Shoigu, secretary of Russia's Security Council and a former defence minister with close ties to Putin, previously visited Pyongyang and met Kim on March 21 and June 4 as Moscow and Pyongyang draw closer together in the face of what they say is a hostile West.
Russia's state Rossiiskaya Gazeta, which said Shoigu and Kim were holding wide-ranging security consultations on Tuesday, published a video of Kim - wearing a traditional Mao suit - hugging Shoigu on arrival before accompanying him to a hall with a long negotiating table.
"Two weeks have passed and we are meeting again," said Kim, before chuckling.
"The president's instruction must be fulfilled," replied Shoigu, who quickly agreed when Kim said Shoigu's frequent visits showed that ties between Moscow and Pyongyang were getting stronger.
In a message last week, Kim called Putin his "dearest comrade" and praised their bilateral relations as a "genuine relationship between comrades-in-arms" - a reference to the role of North Korean troops who Moscow said helped it drive Ukrainian forces out of Russia's western Kursk region last year.
Shoigu was given the red carpet treatment in Pyongyang and met off his plane by an honour guard and Marshal Pak Jong-chon, who occupies the second most powerful position in the secretive North Korean military.
...
The U.S. and South Korea say North Korea has shipped ballistic missiles, anti-tank rockets and millions of rounds of ammunition for Russia to use in its war against Ukraine. Moscow and Pyongyang have denied weapons transfers.
A Reuters investigation in April 2025 found that millions of North Korean shells had made their way to the front lines in massive shipments by sea and then by train.
Russia said this month the two countries planned to shortly restart a direct passenger train service between Moscow and Pyongyang for the first time since 2020, a journey which at over 10,000 km (6,213 miles) it said was the world's longest direct rail trip.

I do understand a why the G7 is pushing for more sanctions and fully support it. I just think at this point Putin is in way too deep and nothing is stopping him short of his over throw/assassination. That said, these sanctions leading to more economic hardship could potentially press that coup time frame forward.
KANANASKIS - Britain on Tuesday announced further sanctions against Russia over the war in Ukraine, in what Prime Minister Keir Starmer will describe as part of a coordinated move by the Group of Seven (G7) countries.
SpoilerA notice posted on the government website said Britain's latest sanctions targeted four individuals, six entities and 20 ships, including oil tankers, marine-related companies, and suppliers of goods to Russia - particularly electronics.
Starmer is expected to set out details of the sanctions later on Tuesday from a G7 summit in Canada.
He will say he wants "to work with all of our G7 partners to squeeze Russia's energy revenues and reduce the funds they are able to pour into their illegal war," according to advance excerpts of his remarks released by his office.
"We should take this moment to increase economic pressure and show President (Vladimir) Putin it is in his - and Russia’s interests - to demonstrate he is serious about peace," Starmer is expected to say.

Analyst post 7 min ago from Al Jazeera relevant imo:
SpoilerWhat could prompt US involvement in Israel’s attacks on Iran?
We’ve been speaking to Benjamin Friedman, the policy director at the Defense Priorities Foundation, about possible US involvement in the Iran-Israel war.
He said that possibility at this point “is sort of a flip of a coin” but that the US should avoid it “at all costs”.
“I think it would be a disaster for US interests… One way the US could get involved is as a result of Iranian attacks on US personnel, or US bases in the region, or even potentially on oil infrastructure in the region. That wouldn’t necessitate US involvement, but it could bring it. I think the Iranians know that, and thus far been refraining from those sorts of attacks,” he said.
“But the US might also get involved more as a choice because of this president and some of his top people being enraptured with the Israelis, and being eager to serve them. I could see the US going along with a request from the Israelis to get involved,” he continued.

Per Reuters:
UK maritime firm says it is aware of incident east of UAE's Khor Fakkan
SpoilerJune 17 (Reuters) - British maritime security firm Ambrey said early on Tuesday it was aware of an incident 22 nautical miles east of Khor Fakkan in the United Arab Emirates, near the Strait of Hormuz, as Israel and Iran attack each other for a fifth straight day.
The strait lies between Oman and Iran and links the Gulf north of it with the Gulf of Oman to the south and the Arabian Sea beyond.
About a fifth of the world's total oil consumption passes through the strait. Between the start of 2022 and last month, roughly 17.8 million to 20.8 million barrels of crude, condensate and fuels flowed through the strait daily, according to data from Vortexa.
There was no immediate response to Reuters' request for comment from the Emirati foreign ministry or Khor Fakkan container terminal in the early hours of Tuesday.

Trump leaving the G7 early and telling Tehran to evacuate means... What?
Is Israel going shock and awe on the entire city next?
Obviously pure speculation, but with the military aircraft, moves by US democrats and G7 attendees to keep US out/pull off a cease fire... it may mean some big bombs are heading that way.
I don't think they're going IDF ground at all.

Well, in the past we've come off of a couple of great seasons but I knew the roster was a bit fucked and so I wrung my hands quite a bit.
Our talent acquisition has matched - maybe even exceeded a bit - our results on the field. I feel like we have the potential to be entering another golden age in football.
This has been the funnest off season since the late 2000s. It's so great to be legitimately relevant in college football. It's crazy to me how often that has not been the case in my lifetime. I do not take it for granted.
Fucking THIS!

Wife and I were at the Mexican restaurant bar the other day, it was Wednesday I think, game one of the Texas / tech WCWS… clearly this twosome was on a date at the bar and they were in our field of view right in front of us as we were sitting at a cocktail table right next to the bar. Long story short they started getting handsy so we assumed third date after some reasoning. Well they got a bit drunk and started talking us up, found out it was their first date. We left after the game, they had already left but we found them on a bench outside the restaurant just all over each other. Pretty sure she was giving something up that night. She was a legit 9 body and face wise. Late 20s he was mid 30s and I just thought wow I could not do this, shes at least giving him a blow job first date if not more. Fucking crazy.
Maybe a little racist but I'm suprised there are Mexican food restaurants in Vietnam.

Well per Reuters Trump is leaving G7 early and Marcon hoping in one hand...
Spoiler"Much was accomplished, but because of what’s going on in the Middle East, President Trump will be leaving tonight after dinner with Heads of State," Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said on X
A U.S. official said Trump would not sign a draft statement calling for de-escalation of the Israel-Iran conflict.
Still, Macron said Trump's departure was positive, given the objective to get a ceasefire.
"There is indeed an offer to meet and exchange. An offer was made especially to get a ceasefire and to then kick-start broader discussions," Macron told reporters.

There’s a middle lane. Have a simple, curated social media presence with enough, but not too much. And you tell gals that you do social media, but you prefer not to share too much with the whole world. Some things are meant to be private.
Then you let em see a few pics of you with friends, a pic or two in a pretty locale, and that’s that.I curate my very limited social media (basically just IG) a lot. Artists, comedians, and people I know. My pics are boring for most, but my friends and family appear to enjoy them. Mostly my dogs and nature pics. Occasional trip pics. That's it.

This is pretty close to my take, but I lean a lot more pro-regime change. I do fully support air attacks directly and sea support indirectly. I strenously object to US ground forces in Iran. I'd also much prefer the use non-vested non-US leaning intermediary assistance in the rebuilding. Particularly as it relates to cultural aspects. I also openly acknowledge all my wants and preferences may be wishing in one hand. Those positions form from what I admit is a weird quasi-isolationist world view. Help a man learn to fish, but don't tell him how to tie flies or what sort of fishing rig to use, if you like analogies.
