If I had a nickel for every time I've gone to see a belly dancer and someone winds up with an axe in their neck.

Neck? I think brain was the word you were looking for in this instance.

But yeah, every fucking time. There I am, relaxing while sipping my Chai ready for some amazing entertainment and boom, another axe wielding skull cracker comes in crashing the party. So predictable.

Do you look at their September schedule every year?  They are guaranteed a winning record with who they play in NonCon.

Agree typically, but I don't think that holds true this year. Honestly, I can see only 1-2 wins. Amazingly, Arkansas might be in worse shape that the aggies. Yes, I think they could lose to Bowling Green. Arkansas, imo I'd the team that determines if they are above 500 in Oct. Things get worse from that point.

However, your point stands. That September OOC schedule is hurribad outside ND.

I really only see 3-4 wins total and that's IF they beat Pig and don't lose to Bowling Green.

Any time an AD Mitchell wants to transfer in, I'll deal with the shame.

Yeah, I'm willing to power through the humiliation of our staff pulling in great portal transfers that fill gaps and expand strengths to make our team more competitive.

It won't be easy, but I'll somehow manage.

Hey today is Free Day at Zilker Botanical.  We swung by for 15 minutes before the second round of rain...

Love that place and at the right time/weather you can avoid a lot of crowds.

  5. I'd need to know a lot more about the data sets and methodologies before really getting into the depths.

At a high level just as slut shaming was and remains a very real thing, back in 89-2000 I can't think of a single male I knew that would admit to being a virgin. These days, the stigma of being a virgin isn't what it used to be and that could account for a large increase of men admitting they are virgins.

    And one other question:

What does an ammo supply look like for an average shooter?  I have 500 rounds of 9mm right now.   I plan on picking up another 250-500 rounds in the next couple of days.

Depending on my financial situation (read: getting a job any time soon), I'll add an AR in 5.56 and maybe a PCC in 9mm.

Well, this is a very subjective topic. It's depends on a lot of various aspects. First, what sort of shooting you do is a major factor.  For example, I used to do a lot of competive shooting and tactical classes. In a IDPA shoot, it's pretty normal for me to use 100 or more rounds of ammo, for a 3 day tactical class, easy 500 and possibly a lot more. I was shooting about 4 competitions a month and 2-3 classes per year.

So 400 rounds per month in competition of say, 9mm, plus 2 classes per year in let's just say 9mm there too is 5800 rounds per year.

I'm am WAY above normal, and shooting competitions much less frequently now, but even so, I keep ammo around for that. So my numbers are great sku'd.

If you add in "prep" for the zombie apocalypse well...

Right now an election is coming and the economy is weird. So...

I think conservatively for monthly range trips (50-100 rounds ??) in a single (the one you shoot most frequently) pistol caliber, I'd say 1000 rounds of that ammo is what I would suggest. That's a years worth of range ammo with a smaller amount of "zombie emergency ammo". (Zombie ammo needs fall into the super Grey area of prep world and I'm certain there are folks with millions of rounds)

Personally, at that level, I'd refresh monthly for a month. Basically, get a store of around 1000 then buy around 100 per month and the ammo bills won't ever get too big, particularly with an election on the horizon. Shit ALWAYS goes wonky in these years.

Quick side note: I'm super finicky when it comes to "Zombie ammo" and a lot less so on "practice ammo". I set up notifications when multiple specific ammo becomes available for both. Check prices when they do, and if they fall below x threshold pic up a few boxes. I'm like a fucking day trader with ammo and during covid sold enough ammo to my LGS (who's also a friend) to pay for a CCMG AR in 9mm.

My point was that people were missing the point of the thread and turning it into a thread of all the shitty places they used to eat at when they were in school. Those places were great when you were poor and didn’t care, but Dago is trying to celebrate what’s great about “new” Austin and that’s not Kerbey Lane and Texadelphia. I love the premise of the thread as someone that craps on Austin plenty as it demonstrates that there are still great things about the city despite it changing from whatever point in time you considered to be the “glory years” in your mind.

I've crossed up places from long ago, and recent history, most of which I still like.

It's what did and does make Austin great to me. Rather than focusing on why someone else's great doesn't qualify as great to you, contribute what you think is great and love.

I really like going to Bar Peached... great outdoor patio, food is really good, prices are surprisingly reasonable and there's lots of scenery.

Y'all know prices in Austin and these prices are legit.  And... I'm going to be very vulnerable here as the resident Italian but while I hate that they call it Bolognese, that dish is LEGIT, filling and only $17.00.

    Desano kicks ass

For the record, you aren't the only Italian representative on Surly.

He's joking.  Check the "Burgers" thread in the Austin food subforum.  HJ is there gobbling down burgers probably at least 10x per month, when he's not at Sour Duck doing the same.

Yeah, should have listened to my own "WTF no way!" warning.

I can't quit Austin and I can't quit Conan's.  It's amazing to me that the Anderson/Burnet location is almost identical to how it was when I was in high school decades ago.
