  1. Well house is a total loss as well. Looks like a bomb went off in there. It was drained but not drained enough I guess. Impeller housing cracked and every pipe destroyed. It must have dropped low enough to just blow up old pvc with no water in it. Crazy stuff. Thank God for the 5k gallon tank or we would be tanking in water. Well head seems intact and functional. Look to the bright side! I am going to head out and try to pop some piggies tonight just to ease the pain.i must break you dolph lundgren GIF

  2. I haven't read back so apologies if this was covered, but @Spaulding Smails did your place get fucked up in the ice storm? We got absolutely destroyed. Our camp oak stand that gave us shade in the summer is basically 10 sticks. No cover left. Driving around the ranch and I just did triage tbh. Cleared roads and dragged shit that was easy. I am at 36 hours of work amd it isnt even close. Several 200 yr old oaks are essentially total losses. It is depressing but what the hell can you do. Get a glass of whiskey and drown your pain I guess. Brutal.

Put this in the Getting Old Sucks thread and most if not all would be in traction after that fall.

Did you not see the ankle give out? Yeah, they are in the hospital for a fun little surgery and 6 months of rehab.

What meets the definition of substance for you? Boats most weekends? Cattle at the farm when we go to the sale? I can keep going if it makes you feel better. I’ve been through the reasons in this thread of why I stick with a 1/2 ton, but I’ll make sure to save you a seat at the adult table once you grow past the big boy stage.

I was going full asshole last night. I went with the B&H because I was carrying 4 different hitches of various sizes and drops. I used to have one 2" ball that worked well enough for everything. Now it is a problem as I have a stupid level of trailers I tow often. I like being able to transform the hitch to fit everything. I also like that I don't have to run a sleeve anymore to fit all those old hitches.

It is about needs and laziness. I will stfu on the topic. I apologize for being a pos.

Call me old fashioned, but I want my trailer hitch to be a solid piece of welded steel with a ball on it. I don’t want shit that rotates, moves around, has pins, etc. The $40 solid piece from Auto Zone works fine. I also prefer the simple pop out step on the Fords, they are all going overboard at this point. It’s not that difficult to get in the truck bed.

You will figure it out at your own pace I guess. Some people fuck. You clearly don't. If you want to step up to the big boy table let me know. Likely you don't need to with your truck. Prob don't tow anything of substance.

Did I just see a $300 trailer hitch that is more complicated than just taking the old one out and tossing it in the back? Does it come with a Tecovas logo?

    Stop being poor.

  7. I finally got 308. Federal premium 168 grain whatever the fuck i don't ever shoot. 80 rounds...$220 shipped. Stupid. There should he a discount for non hoarders that just want to shoot some food for thier family.

  8. This weekend was great and capped it off in style. Saturday was some work around the house and hood capped off with an outdoor party with the neighbors (extremely distanced). This morning I got our fishing gear dialed in and took the kids fishing. Youngest caught a baby bass but both kids had fun. Oldest tapped out for the evening sail. Youngest slammed a beer, crushed the empty on his head and brought the fucking heat (ok maybe not but he is a trooper).
My step dad has been in icu in a epically induced coma so I took my mom and my youngest out sailing, he drove damn near the whole time. Life is hard sometimes, but shit, no complaints on days like today.75c18f32cfa23fb7e39d5a8dffb59c7b.jpg

  9. I got a cart just because I was bored and wanted something to mod. So far I have redone the seats with foam and new vinyl and done a really ghetto wrap. I am going to roll with it till fall and then likely switch to camo for hunting season. Vinyl wraps are hard as shit. New wheels and 8 ply tires are on the way so it can handle the ranch. I look forward to drunken night hunts for piggies once I get it all setup. It is electric so hoping it is easier to sneak up on shit than the mule or atv.

Before and after pics. I also need to get an extended top in white to match. a65e28e77be2066ffd027874b8cb2f4e.jpgb15cd0aa1ae6380a165d24ccd6bf4d57.jpg

    Here is some nightmare fuel

    https://www.newyorker.com/news/our-columnists/trumps-strategy-for-returning-to-power-is-already-clear

Viktor Orbán became the Prime Minister of Hungary in 1998. Four years later, with a record number of Hungarians turning up to the polls, his party lost power. The next day, Orbán’s allies claimed voter fraud and demanded recounts, and although these demands were rejected, Orbán continued to claim that the election had been stolen. In 2010, after eight years leading the opposition, Orbán and his party, Fidesz, returned to power with a supermajority—enough to change the constitution and begin rapidly consolidating autocratic power. Orbán has not left office in the decade since.

The Law and Justice Party, led by the twin brothers Lech and Jarosław Kaczyński, first held power in Poland between 2005 and 2007, as part of a coalition government. Eight years after being voted out, their party (led, after Lech’s death, by Jarosław) returned to power, receiving the largest share of the vote that any party had seen since the fall of Communism. They quickly got to work dismantling the institutions of liberal democracy and establishing autocratic rule.

So our only hope is the SDNY getting charges to stick and throwing his ass under the jail?

Honest question.  I see these types of things can get into the $20k range for 4 seaters.  What’s the benefit of that vs something like a used wrangler?

I think I paid 13k for our Mule 4010 Trans with lift, tires, roof and plastic windshield (which I broke less than a month into owning it, but that is a different story).

The ones on the Escalades either have too fine of threads on the screws that hold them in, or they break off. It is a true "they don't make them like they used to" situation. If they were an old "push button" or "pull up" plastic design, it probably wouldn't be a problem, but "pulling out" stresses the rear two screws of the assembly and either strips the threads, or breaks the plastic screw protrusion off, which remains on the end of the screw. People naturally use the handle to pull the door the test of the way open all the way to the door stop. When you have 500 different people ride in your vehicle over time, they end up breaking the handles.

One would think the first thing the engineers would key in on is getting in the vehicle as the starting point of design. Of course my last few experiences with gm they clearly didn't give a fuck about "the truck needs to move to be a vehicle" so I am not holding out hope they give a fuck whether you can get in or not.

Right on. Yeah, I mean, it's an Escalade. Imo these things haven't gone through a meaningful change in 25 years

Never driven one nor do I care to, but they are right up there with the land rover in the most ridiculous looking rear end competition.

  14. Not trying to disrespect SB, but they got additional testing back and they found the algae toxins in the brown mat algae along the lake bottom. If you take your dog to the lake, don't. Nothing in the water column but possibly it is growing due to the mass zebra mussel die off/nutrients as the lake goes down. Be careful my fellow dog lovers.
