Was playing softball and this SS thought he was still in college throwing to 1st base in the mid 80mph range. Asshole hit me in the knee on the way to 1st base. I walked it off after a bit.
The very next play there was a line-out and the same asshole hit me in the head as I was diving back to first base. Got knocked out for a few seconds and was called out because I never made it to the bag. I was walking back to a dugout until my teammate grabbed me and walked me to the correct dugout. We only had 10 players that game and I insisted on playing. Got moved to the catcher position and played the rest of the game concussed (didn't know it at the time)
This is fantastic. I'm dying over here.

I am now the proud owner of my very first kamado grille, a vision grille I picked up via Craigslist with an electric starter, extra bag and hard container for lump charcoal, cover and stand for $400. I believe I need the heat deflector to actually smoke on it, but need to look more into it since I'm new to this. I plan on just grilling up some steaks tonight.
Side note: I can't get any links to pics from imgur to actually work on this newfangled website
Hopefully you have better luck than I did with that brand. Bought one from Costco and had it a month before the firebox cracked. Took it back and bought a BGE and haven't looked back.

Yep. Those are them.Yup. These little things are what I use.

I used to use the BGE starters that are little squares but i found some generic ones on Amazon.
Which fire starters do you use? I think I’m going to give up the chimney contraption -
Really? I prefer the wood pulp firestarters, but i will use the looftlighter to get things going. Also, I’m the only person on the planet who doesn’t like the Looftilighter. Gave mine away. Team electric coil. -
I know it's not an issue for most here, but they are fantastic in snow and ice as well.Solid tire, but I think the AT looks a little better. Michelin for miles, though, no question. -
Going to prison? Or to the future? Where can't you take a Boston Terrier?

Louisville is a cool town. Voted best small town in America on more than one occasion. But it's just in the middle of the Denver/Boulder metro area, so I wouldn't call it a true small town.

Big 4 work sucks, but opens lots of doors. If you can suck it up for 3 years, you can leave for a big pay raise and a much better work/life balance.
Everyone I know who works in O&G works their ass off, but they are paid well.

You might like Fair Play (aka, South Park). It's up in the mountains west of Denver.
I'm a CO native. Well aware of Fairplay (one word, not two), but we already have our place in the mountains in Fraser.

Wife and I plan on retiring to our mountain house someday, but I think I'll always want somewhere to go during mud season, so we will always have a place in Denver as well. Probably downsize our current house when the kids move out (if they move out).
I'm much more at peace in the mountains than I am in Denver. Just a different pace of life.

I wish we could all live in the mountains at high altitude. That's where I see myself in five years.
We're full. Sorry.

My BGE has been out of commission for a while because the gasket burned off during some high-heat cooking. Seems like a bitch to replace and I've been too lazy. Any of you have done that?
I've been running without a gasket for years since I did the same thing. Does not affect performance in any way I can tell. Just be careful closing the lid.

We are looking at buying a house well below our budget and doing a complete overhaul of the interior before moving in. Kitchen, bathrooms, flooring, everything. Light structural stuff like taking out/moving walls, rearranging kitchen layout, if necessary. Maybe even some minor facelift of the exterior (siding colors, shutters, etc). Budget will be around $100k including any design/consultation fees.
Questions:
- Is this too small a project to hire an interior designer? We have no vision for this kind of thing ourselves. However, everyone that Google turns up (in Houston) has portfolios of $10 million homes in River Oaks and shit like that.
- Assuming we do go the designer route, what kind of fees can we expect? I assume it's a percentage of the total project budget?
- Do contractors typically want to source materials themselves, or will they generally be OK with us sourcing tile, flooring, etc ourselves and just paying them for installation?
Any other thoughts/suggestions from anyone who has gone through a process like this would be very helpful.
How big is the house? I doubt you're getting all of that for $100k. I just re-did the master bath, did new counters and appliances in the kitchen, and re-did the flooring in the other bathrooms in my house and did paint and carpet. I think it ran me close to $65k and I get a lot of things cheaper than the average person because I have relationships with subs who do a lot of work for us and I got the appliances for half price because we buy a lot from Whirlpool. Retail mine would have been $80-90k.

I was looking at Tempurpedics once at one of those single function matress stores and they had one for over $10K. . .I said "10K for a matress? Really? who in the hell buys this one?" she said, with a straight face, "well you can finance it for 5 years. . ." I just turned and walked out.
I have a Simmons Comforpedic plush bought when I was single/divorced that is amazing, it's so soft and just cradles me. Now that one is on the queen bed in our guest bedroom because when I moved in with my fiance we decided to use her Tempurpedic firm, which is also a really great mattress.
Got my Tempurpedic from Costco for right around $2k delivered and installed. Love it, but it doesn't look like Costco sells Tempurpedic anymore.

Sounds like it's too late since you already bought them, but if mileage is a concern, it's hard to beat the Michelin LTX M/S2

I saw them in concert a few years ago. Without Buckingham it wouldn't have been a very good show. Stevie can't hit the high notes anymore.

00 flour. Buy it on Amazon.Alright. Did 6 pizzas last night on the green egg. Was slammed with trying to keep up with cooking and hosting friends.
Bought the dough from my local bakery.
I did a test pizza and the green egg was too hot. (around 700). Charred the bottom pretty good, but pizza was still pretty good. I got the temp down to around 500-475 and it was better pizza. Was only taking about 6 min per pizza.
I didn't find any semolina at HEB, so I just used regular flour. Probably wasn't the best option, but that's what I went with.
I used this no cook sauce recipe that came America's Test Kitchen. I really liked it. Had good acidity and no sugar.
No Cook Pizza Sauce
I did find some fresh mozzarella at HEB and I threw it in the freezer for 20 min and then grated it.
Had a variety of ingredients and let people make their own pies. My favorite was Italian sausage, pepperoni, caramelized onions and mushrooms . ( I had done a quick sauté of the mushrooms so that they wouldn't dry out on the pizza.)
My Super Peel made it easy to transfer pizzas from Stone.
Super Peel
Definitely will be doing more pizzas soon. Just not six in one evening. -

That many people have looked at a single lot and no one has bought it yet?
That's exactly what I was thinking. I think OP is exaggerating the situation here.

So don't take your kids there. Mine handled it really well.I'm all for giving kids a window in the realities of real life and of history and each parent should what they think it best but IMO there is no reason to expose kids of this age to something like that unnecessarily. -
Not me, but a roommate in college. We used to eat a lot of Grape Nuts (what a weird fucking name, BTW). He eats a big ass bowl of them for breakfast. I think to myself "self, that looks good. We should have some of that". I pour them in my bowl as well and just before I put in the milk, I see a grape nut with legs. Then I look closer and lots of them have legs. Like half of them. So yea, my roommate ate a bowl of half Grape Nuts, half weevils.

My kids were 9 and 12 when we went to the Holocaust Museum. While I don't think the 9 year old necessarily processed everything there, I wouldn't say he was too young. Depends on the maturity of the kids.

Check out the Spy Museum and the Newseum. Skip going up into Washington monument. Also skip the Holocaust Museum with kids that age even though it's my favorite. The Ford Theatre was great. As far as a hotel, just find something in a decent area close to a Metro station.
Holocaust Museum was the quietest place I've ever been with a bunch of people. That place was rough but amazingly well done.

Where did you stay in Yountville? We went out a couple months ago and stayed at the Bardessono. Didn't make it to any of the wineries you mentioned with the exception of Caymus. My favorite winery was Reverie. They are relatively small, but have great wines. I usually can't stand most white wines but they have a Roussane/Marsanne that is fantastic.
In addition to the Caymus cab, I was really impressed with the Conundrum sparkling rose. That is a great everyday drinker, along with Abstract. It's hard to justify opening an $80-100 bottle of wine on Tuesday night. Meomi Pinot Noir is a good one in the $20 range.
