Live at 7500 feet in Durango, on top of a hill/mountain.

To OP - sell the RWD and buy a subaru before you leave Texas, they are cheaper in Texas.

Alt - get a Jeep Wrangler. Went everywhere with mine.

Wife has a 4wd Yukon which does fine with good tires.

If you buy a truck do not get some extended cab/bed nonesense. Buy a Tacoma or a Colorado.

I went from the Jeep to a Subaru Impreza with shit clearance and have not issue getting around town.

I have never used Chains/Cords and don't expect to. If conditions are that bad, I'm staying home.

Remember to downshift in snow and not brake, but more importantly just fucking go slow and watch the idiots from Texas/New Mexico try to pass you and fly off into the ditch.

Slightly OT, but I did not appreciate the amount of snow you guys got last year until we were down there at the end of September.  Did a little four wheeling and we must have seen ~60 slides around Telluride, Ouray and Silverton.  Engineer Pass was a trip with the debris everywhere.

As for the OP, your advice is good.  As long as you have AWD/4WD and good tires, you will likely never need chains.  If you do, you probably shouldn't be driving.

  2. Ive lived in shit climate my entire life and i don't recall anything ever having chains on the tires besides my dad's 35 year old snowblower.

Is that a thing for mountain driving? My terrain is the flattest in the country so
The traction laws have gone into use the past few years after several traffic jams caused on I 70 because of people not having the right equipment on their cars. 99 percent of the time you won't need them.
  3. Poker night. Buddies always let themselves into the basement. I was upstairs getting the food ready and I hear “I poured some of that UK blend, hope you don’t mind.”

    Fuck that guy.
  4. MP is either a liar or you should relentlessly bluff him and also help him tie his shoes. I don’t think the AT play was bad. Your raise size was tiny esp being out of position.
That's one thing i struggle with is bet sizing. What should i have bet there?

You can find 3/2 in almost any strip casino, but it's going to be a $25 or $50 min.

But even those are still dealer hit soft 17, aren't they?

  6. Playing in my monthly tournament on Saturday night.  Most players are fairly solid, but there are a couple donkeys in there.  Sitting in the BB and I look down to see 2 Aces.  MP raises to 1200 (blinds were 300/600), button calls and I re-raise to 3200.  MP folds and button calls.  Flop is Q 10 10.  I put in enough to put button all in (around 5-6k).  He snap calls and flips over A 10 offsuit.  Motherfucker.  I hate this fucking game sometimes.  Who calls a raise and a re-raise with that hand?  I had been playing pretty tight up to that point.  MP says after the hand that he folded KK.

    aspen.

no lines and there's 2 mountains that are your speed. pretty much all of buttermilk (the greatest hill on earth for parents with small children) and half of snowmass are beginner/intermediate.

Sounds like something someone from Carbondale would suggest...

I can't say shit about this, I rigged up two paddles on atari to run faster on Decathlon back in the day to set a world record score and get printed in the activision monthly newsletter.

only to find out Activision found out about it and would not accept any records.

of course I was 10 at the time, not 20something like this dork

How did Activision find out about it?  Your mom snitch on you?

    What's your address?

It does have one of those!  Just start knocking on doors in the area.  You'll find me eventually.

Bought Ikon passes for the whole family. We are doing a quick trip to steamboat right around New Years which I am hoping it won’t be as crowded as the Summit county resorts. We will also do another trip for spring break. Right now thinking of aspen, winter park, Utah or trying big sky. We are mainly beginners/intermediates. Like my trails like my women, groomed. We will be driving. What does Surly say?

The week between Christmas and New Years is the busiest time of year anywhere you're going to go.  Winter Park is a shitshow that week.  So is Summit, Vail, and everywhere else in CO.  Don't know about Utah but I would imagine the same there.  Bring the big wallet if you go to Aspen.
