  1. Rita Moreno can still get it, tbh.
  2. I realize you are a troll, but come on man: We got the 25th Amendment (and possibly WW2) because of Woodrow and Edith Wilson's pigheaded-ness.
  3. This. LBJ chose not to run partially to help the party, but mostly because his ego couldn't handle losing to RFK. And then RFK was murdered.
  4. JFC. We should be having an empathetic conversation about using the 25th Amendment, instead a significant part of the Party is saying: "Well, if I squint just right and hold a prism up, I think I can see victory in November" What. The. Fuck.
  5. I do. They are all moderate Democrats now. My Aunt and Uncle voted GOP their entire lives until 2018 and they are both Democrat voters notw. Why the fuck do you think Dems are doing well in the Suburbs? It's not because we've got great lawn care tips and bake a mean enchilada casserole. We've picked up every Republican we are going to convert over the last 6 years. Running a senile old fart isn't going to drive those converted voters to the polls. Much less the sliver of indecisive "independent" dipshits that actually swing elections in WI, MI, and PA. The Biden Campaign's pitch of "Our meat is less rancid than the GOP's meat" isn't going to help with Moron's Who Vote(TM) who probably have golden tinged memories of Trump and think Uncle Joe is a drooling old fool.
  6. Let's say instead of showing clear mental decline, he threw up on himself. And everyone saw he threw up on himself. Do you know how fucking stupid you would sound if you said: "It's the media's fault they showed him with puke all over his shirt and tie?"
  7. This. I’ve been voting since 92. This year, when I walk into my DC precinct, where my vote is largely meaningless, will be the most hold my nose and vote for a candidate I don’t believe in during my lifetime. And that includes John Fucking Kerry.
  8. My eyes and ears saw the debacle in Afghanistan. My eyes and ears saw him swinging his dick around about Biden Bucks and then inflation took off. My eyes and ears saw his unwavering support for Israel when a core constituency in Michigan is Arab, and Netanyahu is openly pining for Trumps return. My eyes and ears saw a year of clown car negotiations about IRA before it came to fruition. He’s had a monumental presidency, but it’s also had some serious peaks and valley’s. I’m politically plugged in and understand each of those things I listed is a nuanced, complex conversation. To the half wit independents who are going to decide this election, he’s the inflation guy who is Old. As. Fuck.
  9. That letter is straight up “Fuck you, pay me” The “you had a chance and chose not to run and I won the primary is such bullshit”. I’m sure Gretch, Newsom, Pritsker were calling around last fall looking for finance and got a stiff face palm from the BMDs, because the Biden people were twisting arms.
  10. I have a French friend who told me that due to the two rounds of voting, it’s pretty typical for the first round to be “Vote your heart” and the second to be “vote your head”. Macron was gambling the Left wouldn’t unify and his party would be the beneficiary. That didn’t happen, but the French turned out in droves to vote against the far right.
  11. For the idiots in the back: BIDEN WAS NEVER WILDLY POPULAR, EVEN IN 2020!!! He’s lagging Dem senate candidates in swing states because they don’t like Biden despite hating the GOP. The campaign and Dem leadership trying to gaslight the nation into Weekend at Bernie’s is fucking insane, and an indictment against both his person, administration, and party. It’s essentially the equivalent of political climate denial. You can’t claim the Democrats are the party of serious governance when they are running a man in clear mental decline who will have to actually president for 4 more years if elected.
  12. The problem with this analogy is Biden crushed a dinger during batting practice (friendly crowd, teleprompter). Last night he went 0-4 with a double play, two 3 pitch strike outs, and a weak come backer.
  13. If I'm being 100% nihilistic, it's good for me as well: Next time I have to deal with some entrenched agency career official who is screwing a client, I can pretty much point to this decision and say "You got some specific statutory language on which you are relying, chief? Cause I don't think the courts are going to buy your "Because I said so" defense."
  14. I saw Dave Matthews open for Big Head Todd and the Monsters at Bates in...maybe 94 or 95?
  15. I've been on a tear in DC lately: Dwight Yoakum last month: Dwight was great. He flew through the set, which is good, it was long, but the band was tight as hell, and encored Suspicious Minds. The real revelation was the Mavericks. One of the best opening acts I've seen in years and took me back to when they were the new thing in the 90s. Bleachers a couple of weeks ago @ the Anthem. Crazy good show. Just balls out full showman stuff for 2.5 hours. Dueling Saxophones, Two drumkits, multilevel stage. Jack Antonoff puts on a first class live show. Camera Obscura at the 9:30 a week ago. It was......not good. Traceyanne Campbell had trouble staying in tune and seemed to be fighting with the band. We left after "French Navy" and" Lloyd, I'm ready to be Heartbroken," which they thankfully played before the encore. Future Islands: Excellent. He's kinda of a weird dude, and I have no idea how his knees have held up over the years, but gotdamn "Seasons" goes hard.
  16. I realized this is my list as well. Feels really weird.
  17. I think in another 10 years, people will look back on the LOTR movies with more than a bit of cringe. They are bloated, silly at times, and often over the top in a way that I don't think ages well. It did launch a lot of careers and the Moria scene in Fellowship still slams and goes very hard, but the follow up Hobbit movies (and King Kong) highlight that Jackson kinda caught lightening in a bottle. Master and Commander, Fog of War, & Lost in Translation were all in that same Oscar class and have aged so much better than Return of the King.
  18. "That is just mean. Mean man." is a regular saying in my house. I think I'm the only person who knows where it's from, but my kids and wife use as well when somebody is being particularly salty.
  19. Late to this, but that Wine bar before you hit the exit is pretty solid. Mostly because it's so expensive it keeps the riff raff out.
  20. In all honesty, Hunter might be able to get a decent side business going in prison...
  21. My question: What did the Founder's specifically say about gun purchase forms? What was James Madison's written thoughts? As I understand it, only gun regs that are constitutional must have been specifically understood in both a historical and modern context by the founder's themselves.
  22. I thought it was enjoyable enough, but light as air. I started to forget portions of it before the credits were even finished. It was basically plain Lays potato chips. Fine, I guess.
  23. They said this:
  24. lol. Kinda enjoyed the last two episodes in a “so bad it’s good” sorta way. Once I accepted all the r/free folk predictions we’re gonna come true, I just embraced the “burn this shit to the ground and let’s be as absurdist as possible along the way”. And the show gave us Natalie Dormer, the actress obsession I didn’t know I needed:
