  1. Same board that was convinced that rfk was cancelling flu strain selection for 2025 season and laughed when I told yall that they would push the study timelines.
  2. Don't use quotes to reflect the things you hear that are made up in your own mind. Here is what was said:
  3. Again, you are just begging the question and vocalizing your own pre-determined outcomes. RFK is not gonna be running the study. He ain'st gonna be writing the protocol or the SAS code. The study will stand on its merits and the level of transparency they practice. If it is all performative and a biased study design, it will be quite obvious, there will be knowledgeable people lined up around the internet to critique every t and i, and the results should be treated as rubbish.
  4. Today was a good day homies. Have a nice weekend.
  5. Intersection of politics with medical research is not a new thing. We have NIH funded researchers that have been suppressing the results of their research cause they were afraid of the political implications for some time now. I am not particularly worried about pre-determined outcomes, but agree that a lot of people seem to have already arrived at a pre-determined position wrt what this study will show or how it will be conducted. IMO, the study will be subject to extreme scrutiny and the methods, data sources, and analyses will either stand on their merits or they will fail. What iwas stupid was to put out a rush job timeline that was obviously going to have to get walked back. If I was on the team, I would publish all the study documentation including protocol and statistical analysis plan as soon as it is available. Put out the methods and let peer reviewers critique it prior to execution of the analyses. Adopt any well reasonable course corrections, than run the analyses. We're talking minimum like 18-24 months to execute, but you would be much better positioned to weather any criticism.
  6. America's Pastime depending on cheap Chinese aluminum bats is just a bit too on the nose.
  7. Futures banging. Assume the jobs report read out was good.
  8. Flying off and leaving the neocon NSA standing on the tarmac is a good day for America.
  9. It's like found money!
  10. Per the link, the Mennonites in Gaines County are apparently Old Colony Mennonites, not Mennonite Church USA Mennonites. Perhaps a more accurate formulation is "Seems like some mennonites may have problems with some of that".
  11. Fair. Stupid rhetoric like I said.
  12. Maybe @Kyrie Eleison can provide some additional insight. I think he is in that orbit.
  13. No one gave that impression. And I doubt that the mennonites or others so inclines think that there is some expiration date on the ethical issues as they see them.
  14. Not sure why you are cross referencing threads aggy, but my post in that thread below. "Aborted fetus debris" is stupid rhetoric from RFK. But the reality is that many vaccines are grown in cell lines that originated from aborted fetuses. Seems like the Mennonites have problems with some of that. Reality is that a lot of pharmaceuticals and other products rely on fetal cell lines that cross certain ethical lines for some.

  16. Political brain damage is getting in the way of some of yall making money in this short term. All bets off on the medium run. Can't help you there. Long term will probably be fine, but appropriately hedge in case it is not.
  17. I think the classic car market is in for a tough secular future. Boomers shedding their trailer/garage queens. Spend any time at a car show these days. Most of the owners are within a stones throw of the reaper. The market will do what it does. I might need more garage. Last time I pitched my wife on another one we were driving down 620 and the heater core decided to fail all over her side of the floor board. So we all have problem.
  18. FEels like we have been in a meme market since at least 2020 and even prior. Biggest hit, if it comes, will be 3Q imo. But I am just throwing darts and dice. SP Futures currently up ~1% to ~5640.
  19. RFK pushed the timeline out 6 months during the cabinet meeting today. It's still an extremely optimistic, very aggressive timeline.
  20. Per BEA, decrease in government spending and increased imports.
  21. ERCOT had something to do with this, until proven otherwise.
  22. Any new news, or just the slow slide of disappointment? Saw that they released some new results this week, but haven't dug into them.
  23. Appreciate the disclaimer. I don't think that is totally fair assessment and a bit of a strawman. But appreciate that that is what you perceive. I call the posters here clowns for a lot of (imo) well earned reasons. Just do a forum search on "clown" and look at the last pages of when I deployed it. In reviewing the first few pages of results, none correspond to yourdescription and most actually refer to calling the neocons in both the Biden and Trump administration clowns. The ones directed at other posters here is cause they were acting like clowns and didn't have anything to do with any sort of outrage equivalency assessment. I think that that assessment is influenced by projection. The politics board is a clown show and has been for some time. I mean maybe always was, but certainly accelerated in the late Obama, Trump, and Biden eras. A long time ago a from to time to time wise poster observed that the fundamental problem with the CR is that the discussion here devolves into strawman argumentation. He now wallows in it himself. Pretty emblematic imo. American policy wrt Israel? I have been beating that drum for over 20 years in this community. It's just now turned to 11 for you? I mean I guess that's a take. I'll try to do better though. I was watching a video this morning of a young girl in a gaza, maybe 14ish by appearance, squirting brain matter out her head and somewhat still conscious for a moment. I'll be sure to post more of those videos so we all know what keeps the juice running for the american defense base. I'll try to do a couple a day. I must admit, I do miss me some vampire matt miller at the podium though. If as on this thread, you want to talk about the execution of federal and many other search warrants. Shit, been there to. ICE ain't the real problem, it's just an example of the problem, ane one that creates greater outrage at this particular moment in this particular forum. That OK situation looks like a very very common one where the intended targets where not at the location and the police come in banging and treating everyone like shit. It's been happening every year for what, decades now? If it was a sign of the fascist overtake of this country, that boat sailed a long time ago. Qualified immunity is and long has been (just) one of the real problems, imo. Immigration broadly? Shit. Discussions that have been had numerous times here and positions laid out. We need a policy that allows for the streamlined and efficient processing and vetting of people that want to come to work in this country. I don't care if they are from Mexico or India or where ever. A lot of my thinking on the immigration issue, in particular recently, has been influenced recently by some of my colleagues and their own experiences. That whole system is fucked up, but I see the lengths that people have to go to play by the rules. And the sacrifices they have to make to do so. So my take on that one today, people need to play by the rules and the system needs major reform. I don't go into another country without following the rules, the people I work with don't, and I would hope that we could expect the same of others. If you are not playing by the rules, you should be sent home. I'd like that to be done with due process and some fucking modicum of compassion, but also understand that in the current environment we are in a pendulum swing. Disagree with this very much so. I never really took any major flack on these boards until I pretty consistently starting pointing some of the very absurd aspects of the Trump-Russia conspiracy theories that got wild traction here. Particularly the Steele Dossier absurdities (Dead On Ballz Accurate in the parlance of some posters here), and the totally inappropriate use of the unconstitutional American surveillance system to target politicians (thanks IG for that report, that was fun). That's really the root of most of it. Disco alluded to it in his post here or on the other thread.
