  1. I feel the same way I did when the Rodney King video came out. I was angry that they were doing it but felt a sigh of relief that finally people got to see black folks weren't lying about the ass kickings they were getting when no one was looking. The ugliest part of America is right out in the open. All these years most of America has been in denial. Swearing everything was just fine. Sure, it was fine for a small segment of the populace. This was the only way forward. Sad it had to come to this but the 1st step of the 12 step program is said to be the hardest.

I agree with you (although Rex's negging and DM stunt with Imma appears to be what got him suspended -- he was being stupid with that).  I'd like more good-faith discussion.  But here's a thing that's happened in the last decade plus: "good-faith" conservative folks are an endangered species.  The entire ethos has become a cult based on trolling and treating anyone not in the preferred group like absolute shit (in other words, following the model of Trump), so....how do you have a good-faith conversation with that?  You don't.

Deep down I know this is the case but I keep holding out hope.

The American inability to see anything from a perspective other than their own is top-notch.  Think of all of the discussions we've had over the years ("what do you mean people don't have a driver's license?  You need an ID to even get on a plane!"  Yeah, dudes...a huge percentage of Americans never have and never will fly anywhere).

And to be fair, we're all guilty of it to some extent, but having a decent society starts with acknowledging and accepting that you have a limited perspective.  It goes in all directions, by the way.  I remember in law school, talking to one of my new students casually about me going hunting the next week - she was from Brooklyn.  "You have a gun????"  I mean....yeah, I have several.  "What the hell?  What is wrong with you?  Do you shoot people?  Why do you have so many guns?"  Her perspective - minority female from Brooklyn -- was WAY different than mine, 5th generation Texan with rural roots.  It was beyond conception to her for anyone to own a gun for any reason OTHER than "you're a criminal up to no good."  It was a little eye-opening for me.  I'd seen plenty of zero perspective, limited thinking from conservative types, but I was seeing it from a more left-leaning person.  And yeah, I saw a lot more of it over the years.

But starting from a point of "so.....the experience of a black person growing up 40 years ago was significantly different than my experience" is damned helpful.  But, you know, we're colorblind, and we're all Americans and whatnot, and why you gotta be so divisive?

I try my best to imagine the perspective from other cultures. I think about how it must feel to see minorities be able to proclaim ethnic pride while white people have to sit that one out.

That wasn’t a decent back and forth. I think BOW and us had a decent discussion in the QE thread after a bit, and I appreciated the information he shared.

Seems like our dear leader suspended him for harassment more so than disagreement.

Feel free to disagree with me.

I get it. I guess I am just hopefully to have something other than an echo chamber here. Maybe it's not feasible.

Man, I am not trying to overstep here but the banning and negging aren't my favorite. We can never have a decent back and forth here because people who disagree are too afraid to say anything for fear of what just happened. If someone gets out of pocket maybe we could handle it through DM?

I get that, but you are intelligent and therefore able to step outside the "them vs us" and see the trajectory looks awfully familiar. So why pretend you don't see it?

I disagree. We were a city on a hill if you were / are a white male. Beyond that - living in America was not all rosey. Hell, dead people have more bodily autonomy than women in a lot of states.

Some years back two of my teammates from High School got the idea for the three of us to start meeting up yearly. One went to SMU(my high school center) and remained in Dallas. The other went to West Point and is up for General and was in Killeen. So we meet in a small town in Texas at a BBQ spot. Anyway, we started talking about things that were happening when we were kids and when I started telling my experiences they were shocked at how different it was from theirs.

That is exactly what he said and what I’m taking exception to. It was a ridiculous statement.

That depends on where in the Hitler story arc we are talking about. Hitler didn't come right out with the death camps. What he did was put those undesirables on trains to another country out of the view of the German citizens. Some years down the line the Germans found out they were killing them. We are currently in the beginning stages of Trump trying to suspend Habeas Corpus so he can get on with the process of pushing out 15 million(his words) Hispanics to who knows where to do who knows what. But keep chuckling.

I'm telling you that Booker is cut and print status quo, you're just mesmerized by the fact that he's young. He is Chuck Schumer, just not old and white. If this is your hero we are fucked.

And considering the party will not allow younger talent that does not fall in line, we're just fucked either way.

There are plenty of young Democrat politicians around the country that could be stars given the chance, but they will mostly (if not entirely) continue to be marginalized by the D establishment.

Yep. Obama came out of nowhere.

I personally think the "how" is much more of an issue than the "what."  The "what" isn't getting to the low-information voter in anyway that sticks.  The left frequently wins on the liberal issues in red state referendums, but still can't crack 40% with their politicians in those same states.  I don't know the solution, but some suggestions would be:

It's hard to win when the other side always has the trump card.

R's- "We are going to raise your taxes and give HUGE tax breaks to billionaires!"

    The unwashed masses- gif.gif

R's- "and don't wanna get rid of those dirty Meskins?"

I tried to warn em…but my folks are particularly vulnerable to a “macho!” message, and believing in pulling up the ladder behind them. So, Hispanics FA’d, gonna have to FO.

Don't feel bad. Every culture is particularly fond of that ole ladder function. We will make it through this thing together. 19% + 14% is a whole lotta people.

You still don't get it....like holy shit dude

I get what you are saying but I think the disconnect is that what he is saying is that the GOP is using already well known people to broadcast their message. People like Rogan and Andrew Schulz are pulling in huge numbers. We have a ton of left podcasters but none of them of the notoriety of them since they were celebrities before the podcasts. Despite the optics Dems have to do the same because without a recognizable name you just don't drive the numbers you need to.

  15. 17 hours ago, Brisketexan said:

Yes it is, actually.  As noted above, that number is not random:

When one of the president's primary, and most trusted advisors (that's what she is) says "there are 65 million illegal aliens," that is exactly what they mean.  If you are hispanic, they believe that you are not an actual American, you have no right to be here, and they intend to use the full weight and force of the US government to kick us out.  At the very least, they have wet dreams about "Korematsu II, Except This Time, for Beaners."

    1) Declare that we are being invaded by the brown hispanic horde.

    2) That is a hostile "invasion," thus invoke the Alien Enemies Act, while ALSO declaring that because we are being invaded, the writ of habeas corpus is suspended.

    3) Arrest any and all browns, people whose names end in Z, all that shit.  They are alien enemies, AND they have no ability to contest their arrest (no more habeas).

    4) Shove them into massive internment camps (run by for-profit enterprises that will kick back a sizable portion of what they receive to the Trump family) all over the country (but....most of them will be conveniently located near where cheap labor, ag labor, etc. is needed), because...

    5) All those captive hispanics will then be farmed out to large corporate contributors to the regime as ultra-cheap labor.  Labor is priced at $10 per hour.  Prison operator gets $8 of that, inmate gets $2, and the "employer" saves a fortune because he's now paying way below the prevailing wage.

And that, folks, is how you make slavery functionally legal again.

Let that be a lesson to you. You should've taken a cue from the black community and kept it under the 15% threshold like we have. Now you fucked around and drew the Eye of Sauron and now all of Mordor is after you.

Those were only illustrative examples, and as much as I wish I could take credit for it the sad truth is there are morons who are still advising democrats to adopt a "conservative lite" strategy, which is how Gavin Newsom starts a podcast in which he agrees with everything Charlie Kirk and Steve Bannon say. So unfortunately there are overpaid Tom Herman-caliber frauds who hear "meet young men where they are" and conclude that Dems should pander to that offensive caricature overgeneralization of Joe Rogan's audience.

This is exactly what I am talking about. I am not saying "don't go into their spaces" when I say Fuck Them Kids. What I AM saying is don't craft strategy you think would appeal to them. This is what Clinton did and it turned off loyal lefties, got the party blamed for the housing collapse in 08, and lost his wife the 16 election. Stand on business and force people to align with you. That's what the Republicans did.

Writing off an entire generation is as useless as the shit Schumer is doing.

Yes, there are kids that are unreachable and make great Comedy Central clips. Those have existed in every generation since the dawn of time. But there’s a fuckton more who are merely voting for the only side that has actually made an effort to court their vote.

They can be won back, but it won’t be accomplished by lumping them together with the truly lost ones.

The kids in this video were never going to be on our side. You can hear in what they are saying that they are just regurgitating their parents' talking points. Meanwhile there are millions of young ethnic adults that DON'T vote because the government doesn't care about us that we ignore every single election cycle. Those are the young adults we should be going after. When I was a young adult in the 90's when Clinton was championing the 94 crime bill do you think that inspired me to vote? If you couple the apathetic kids with the already liberal leaning kids that is plenty enough to offset the ones in this video.

The mistake the Dems make every cycle is to keep trying to win people back over to their side instead of taking care of their own constituents. Meanwhile the Republicans could give two shits about winning any leftists and just double down on their efforts and come away just fine. We need to quit fucking worrying about what white kids spawned by Republicans care about.

Actually children rebel against their parents, that is the natural order of things, there has been important progress because old people die and new people are better, would this be the case if the plantation owner managed to download his ideology onto his son? the civil rights movement worked in 1960 but it would have never passed in 1860.

Admitedly there is a repellent on identity politics foundations like hating meritocracy, but at the same time I don't think Gen Z men break for Trump if not for the cultutre war that was waged from around 2010 to 2020, and while the party has started to distance itself from it, they kinda still remain in some subreddits (and no wildcat I am not blaming democrats for what happens outside the party)

As for getting people off their couch we need economic leftism, they are so desperate for it they fall for the fascist conman promising them unobtanium.

Kamala and her GS solution to the housing shortage was aid on down payments which was a drop in the bucket she needed to promote low density public housing. This is how Finland is doing it

I'm talking about the dearth of prosecutions from the Obama DOJ.

I agree and that is the reason I said that Dems are to blame for the way the American public views politics. In their view a Dem pres was the one who signed the Glass-Steagal reform and a Dem pres who bailed out and allowed Wall St to go free. People also see the bank accounts of these leaders grow exponentially while in office and they feel like they are no different than the Rs. If we could just get rid of that then we would encourage all the apathetic non-voters to get off the couch.

Children DO rebel but a large segment of them come back to the ideological fold when they get to adulthood. That's exactly how racism, bigotry, and hatred stay alive my friend.
