  1. Lol. This is one of the best playbooks in the country. Look, the problem isn't zone read or whatever you think it is. The problem is this.... This is our attrition from our 19 and 20 classes. Bru McCoy gone Jake Smith gone Tyler Johnson gone Tyler Owens gone Kenyatta Watson gone Marcus Washington gone Chris Adimora gone Myron Warren gone Caleb Johnson gone Kennedy Lewis gone Jared Wiley gone Willie Tyler gone Juwan Mitchell gone JaQuinden Johnson gone Xavion Alford gone Jalen Garth gone Kelvontay Dixon gone Dajon Harrison gone Here are the people who were still on but not producing at the level we thought. De'Gabriel Floyd David Gbenda Derrian Brown Isaiah Hookfin Hudson Card Alfred Collins Prince Dorbah Kitan Crawford Troy Omeire Logan Parr Andrej Karic Sawyer Goram-Welch That's 46 total recruits we took in '19 and '20. Eighteen of the 46 left the program. Twelve haven't really worked out. That's missing on 30 of 46 guys. I will say 29 of 46 for the people who think Card is where he should be. Anyway, when you are that abysmal at recruiting then you get what we have now. A bunch of inexperience all over the place because we have no depth. We have no third WR. We have barely a line behind the guys currently playing. We have no secondary behind the starters who are ready to play. No LB depth. No edge rushers at all. Our QB is a freshman. We have to stack some classes on top of each other so we can finally get some depth. Outside of DT and RB we are an injury away from plugging in someone who is terrible at the job.
  2. Stats don't matter situations do. Say you have a bad secondary but a good d line. You are terrible all year but then you play a team with an inexperienced o line. Your d line pressure doesn't give the opposition a chance to attack your weak secondary. That's what happened Sat.
  3. Tell me how he would do that using the data you have about his game and recent past.
  4. What is weird is thinking the backup turned into someone else while sitting on the bench, as if we didn't just see him a couple games back struggling mightily to hit receivers. No wind. No solid defense. No good pass rush. Just struggling for the sake of struggling. . We missed a kick. Had a bunch of penalties. Dropped some 1st downs. Dropped a TD. Had the ball go through our hands on the drive to tie it up resulting in a pick. Ewers wasn't good but let's not pretend those were his fault.
  5. It's the O-line's fault for getting whipped soundly and letting the LOS get relocated into QE's lap repeatedly. You have a freshmen back there receivers and O-line. Help his ass out. Worst game they could've played was the game they played Sat.
  6. Card isn't Michael Vick. He has pretty good wheels once he gets going, but he isn't shifty. He isn't going to juke anyone. Pressure was immediate and a lot of it straight up the middle. Card holds the ball longer than QE so the likely result would be sacks instead of errant passes. This loss was a combination of the O-line getting consistently whipped. Receivers not helping out on balls they could've made an effort on. QE allowing the pass rush to affect him on downs where he actually had time. Card has never handled pressure well. We all know that. To coin a word from Roger Clemens, let's not go misremembering.
  7. Immediate pressure isn't the QBs fault. Inside pressure is the worst kind of pressure there is because there is nowhere to go in the pocket. Quinn was letting the ball go very quickly. Too quickly. Quinn had a rough game, but giving up these kinds of pressures is exactly how you get your QB rattled. If you don't know, a defensive lineman has to expose himself to get a hand free and jump up to bat down balls. They teach you how to handle that, though QE should use his eyes better. Watch Conner's body position and hands on the first play with the batted ball and tell me how he could've handled that better. On the second batted ball the entire O-line gets relocated 3 yards back from the LOS. We got completely whipped up front in this game, and that's the first time that's happened all season. And it was everyone. Banks got ran by. Jones got put flat on his back. It was ugly. Quinn looking like that wasn't an accident.
  8. Here are 10 of the 30 incompletions. I don't have time to do all of them, but take a look at these. 1- Quinn drops back to throw and a D-lineman bats the ball down 2- Quinn drops back and a rusher comes completely untouched so he throws it before he is ready. Despite that the ball lands on the 23 and 3/4 yard line and Worthy is on the 25. Not even 2 yards from him and he can't bring himself to jump or dive for it. Pause it when it lands and look. 3- At the snap of the ball the DE goes straight for QE completely untouched. Ewers has to throw it now or get sacked. Bijan isn't looking. 4- At the snap a rusher comes untouched straight up the middle and Ewers has to let it go immediately or get blown up. Bijan missed his assignment. 5- Sanders? gets whipped, barely getting a hand on the guy and Ewers has to throw it away. 6- At the snap Christian Jones gets put flat on his back and the DE dives at Ewers feet. Ewers just puts it up. Once again Worthy makes no effort to come back to a ball that was thrown with air under it. Watch Sanders reaction. 7- Banks gets smoked on a speed rush and Ewers throws it quicker than he wanted, though it still hit Bijan in the hands. 8- Clean pocket Ewers gets the ball batted down by the line. 9- Cole Hutson gets whipped immediately and Ewers has to throw it away 10- Twist up front and rusher gets home untouched. Ewers throws it away. One thing we learned about Card is he doesn't handle pressure like this well. Ewers doesn't hold the ball and that's the only reason he isn't hurt. Card in this situation is more likely to hold the ball and thus take a lot of sacks, maybe even fumbling it. QE wasn't his best, but we didn't help him by whiffing on blocks and not making an effort to catch the football. If you didn't notice guys were sitting on the shorter routes because they knew he needed to get it out quick. The intermediate routes were open, but the pressure he was getting was pretty quick. If you think QE is your guy you don't pull him and have him looking over his shoulder when he plays. You do that and he plays tight, not wanting to make a mistake. You show him its ok to have a bad game and he doesn't have to worry about the hook. Despite all that he was still marching the field until the Sanders thing happened.
  9. People forget how inaccurate Card is. The throw from Quinn to Bijan was perfectly in stride, which is why he scored. If Card throws that same ball Bijan has to stop to get it and is tackled. Hitting a player in stride is how you get yac. Card seemingly never does that, and as bad as Ewers was yesterday he still dropped a couple money balls on them that Card wouldn't, and that's not disrespecting Card. What I saw was a few things. Two of Ewers' incompletions were tipped at the line. Eight of them were rushed due to a free blitzer. If we go back and watch the receivers they were dogging it quite a bit. Were the throws high? Yes. However, no one was jumping and reaching for the ball. They just let it go by them and shrugged their shoulders. Worthy was the most egregious offender. Quinn has a sidearm release. Those tend to sail on you in stronger winds. Add to that the fact that Quinn throws a lot of touch passes and that's a lot of the reason he was inaccurate. Lastly, our receivers don't seem to understand someone throwing them open. Quinn got sped up by the rush so he was letting it fly early. However, if you notice his balls were still going to the proper side where the defense wasn't.
  10. When you get behind the chains with penalties you are going to have to throw it. Same with getting behind late in the game. I think he threw it 15 more times in the last couple series of the game. There were some opportunities to run it more, like when Bijan got them 3 and it was 2nd and 7 before the throw to Worthy in the EZ, but largely it was due to the 14 penalties.

This most def applies to him. Well said.
  13. Lol. How far back do we have to go to see Card play like that? 2 games maybe? How many games like that has he had in his career?
  14. and how did that work out for us? "Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results."
  15. That's speculation. Strong was Tom Herman before Tom Herman was Tom Herman. Sark just "Jesus on the third day'd" his career through Saban and the NFL. We had no clear plan dating back to Mack, just angry people demanding better performances. Here we are again.....
  16. We know what we have in Card. They know what they have in DJ. DJ has struggled his entire career despite being the starter. Card has struggled his entire career despite getting the starting job twice. Card has never played a clean game. Why would you put him in if what you are getting with him is no better than what you are getting with off QE?
  17. Ron Zook was at Florida for 3 years. Lol. Don't be a dumbass. His initial recruiting class wasn't even seniors before he left.
  18. Reread what I said. We fired him when we did so we could grab Herm before anyone else did. It was a bad plan. We could've waited until the season was over and got someone better. Strong was the new shiny object. Then Herman was the new shiny object. Then Sark was the new shiny object. See where this is going?
  19. They need to be fighting. Some guys were dogging it out there. The next time I see Worthy go up and high point a ball will be the first time I see him do it. There are still a lot of me guys on this team that need an attitude adjustment. I wouldn't be surprised if Worthy portals out this year. It's a coaches job to get teams ready to play. We all get that. Texas has been playing hard, just not making enough of those winner mentality plays that good teams make. Good teams make those every game. We are capable just inconsistent. We need 4th and 3 Worthy every game.
  20. We fired Strong when we did to hire the new hot name. Then we fired a coach who was somewhat successful to hire this guy. What about this do you not understand? Lol. We are shiny object guy.
  21. He replaced DJ whatever his name with the number 1 QB recruit in the country. Real tough coaching call there Bob. Meanwhile we have a guy that can't throw a simple swing pass in stride.
  22. This is only a stupid argument because you are reacting emotionally instead of going back and actually watching what actually happened. Watch the line. Watch the receivers. Watch us get stuffed in the running game in the second half. You guys watch the game all mad while drinking and make comments and then never go back and watch it again while really looking at it. I posted this on the other thread but I will post it here for you. Just a few plays because the video cut off the 4th qtr but you get the idea. 42:00 Ewers lets one go and Worthy makes zero effort to go and get it. Just runs and sees its a little out of his reach and gives up. 42:35 Bijan goes out into the flat for a pass. On his release the DE runs right past him completely free. If he was looking he would know the ball has to come out quickly and be ready for it. QE throws it in the only place he can as quickly as he can. No help from teammate. Next play I am not sure what route Cain is running but the ball location has to go to his right shoulder or else possibly get picked by the safety. 112:48 Bijan misses his responsibility and the LB comes completely untouched causing this rushed throw. QE had a shallow crosser but even that would've been tough to get there. This one was on Bijan. 130:30 The three layer look that someone swore we didn't run. Blitzers comes completely untouched causing QE to have to try and sidearm something around him and hope Whit makes a play. 132:02 Sanders misses a block. Man in face where QE would throw causes to have to throw around him. Errant throw. 144:00 Just a complete lack of effort by worthy on the deep ball. Ball lands a little short and to the right of him by two yards. Go get the ball. 222:55 Ball is high and Worthy is trotting and makes no effort to jump and high point it. 234:30 Blitz and has to throw it away. 235:25 Ro runs a nice route but isn't expecting the ball which hits him right in the hands and he drops it 244:45 Watch Jones get put on his back causing QE to rush this throw. Even so he knows Worthy has his man over top so he throws it for him to come back to with plenty of air underneath it and as usual Worthy seems uninterested in making a play. Ewers was off but if you were paying attention a lot of it was because we were allowing OSU to speed him up/throw it too early, and in some instances he was trying to throw around a free blitzer. Some of you think Card was going to come in and make this stuff going on around him NOT happen. We know Card holds the ball longer than Ewers so he would've been sacked. Secondly, receivers weren't making an effort. Every ball isn't going to be perfectly in stride. Sometimes you have to make a tough catch and we simply didn't. We have to keep QE fairly clean and someone on the receiving corp not named J-Whit has to play with some effort and want to.
  23. No. Rushed firings with no plan makes for what has happened at Texas. That is fueled by an enraged fanbase.
  24. This forum is a microcosm of the Texas fan base and is exactly why we keep wandering in the wilderness. I will admit to apologizing for Strong because I thought he would recruit us out of this, but he turned out to NOT be the recruiter he was elsewhere. Herm I hated from day 1 and it had nothing to do with the asshole. However, college football is about recruiting. Guys who can recruit ultimately end up winning. Simple as that. Mack was a solid recruiter year over year. Once his recruiting fell of he was shit. Charlie recruited shit. Tom hit on a couple classes but his attrition was shit. If this guy can continue recruiting well then he will be ok. Despite all the oopinions we are losing because of our shortcomings. We have some talent but we also have some glaring weaknesses. Line depth/experience. Secondary depth. Pass Rush. Receiver depth. Freshman QB. All the problems we knew we had coming in are showing up on Saturdays. Not sure why people are surprised.
