How? The truth is Milroe has played about the same as he did vs us sans one less INT. He is running a little more but not sure that would work vs us. The real difference is we went in there and did what we wanted on offense. The teams Alabama lit up are teams that have allowed other teams to light them up.
  6. You're an asshole but you are OUR asshole. Be safe up there Tex.
  7. Agreed. Everyone had a hand in baking that cake.
  8. The TD run Burke flies upfield like we used to do when Diaz was here. It looks like Hill is looking at the playside A gap and expecting VB to handle the B and Burke to handle the C. Barron I give a pass because he was clearly hurt. He couldn't even chase Wiley after he caught the ball. I think we pulled him after that.
  9. Exactly- This is all just a move to make sure if he does come back the coffers aren't empty. If the kid plays lights out on the way out the season he is gone. Just like any other sport, the decision makers are busy right now running their own teams. Once their season is over is when they will take a deep dive into all the game film from this season. They are going to see a QB who can accurately sling all over from different platforms and different velocity levels running a legit NFL offense. Then when they take a look at the other guys they are going to see the systems that they play in hide a lot of their shortcomings.
  10. Yeah. Its more than one thing. The main thing is that these guys lose their intensity and focus once they get up on teams and then they can't find the switch to turn the lights back on. They are actually better when the opponent is strong enough to keep the game in doubt the entire time. Its weird. They aren't talented enough yet to play sloppy and still play decent. My issue with them is there are a lot of dumb football players in our back 7. MT, Watts, Ford, and Barron are the only ones seeing the field and even they are going to make mistakes. The others don't seem to understand situational football. 4th and 2 and 9 yard cushion. QB sprinting out right and you bit on the fake headed to the opposite pylon, as if the QB could ever manage to make that throw. Gbenda and whatever the fuck that dude is doing every play. Constantly losing leverage. Secondary is the one area where it is hard to see consistent growth. We've been seeing the same M.O. all season.
  11. If you were a talented QB this year it would make sense to look at staying. Williams, Penix, Nix, Sanders, and some other guys we aren't thinking about. This is a strong QB class and you are the only one who was injured. Now, if he balls out the rest of the way plus some very visible bowl game? He is just looking for a 1st rd grade. As he should. He is better than a couple of those guys but the NFL likes shiny objects so.
  12. Then again that doesn't excuse some of our dumb safety play either. Take this play for instance. This is the play where TCU ran a sprint out, or rolled the pocket coupled with a levels concept or flood patterns for the olds. Look at Thompson at the top of the screen. He gets turned completely around. What I want you to think about is this. The quarterback rolling to his right is telling you where the pattern is going. Why the fuck would the receiver be breaking to his left Thompson? This is just dumb football. The route was always going to match where the QB was going. Had he played the percentages he assumes the route breaks playside and has a chancento jump it or at worse discourage the throw. Just stupid football by the guys on the back end. This is why Taafe is playing.
  13. I think that Stat is misleading. Anytime you get close to a QB as he is throwing is considered a pressure. It doesn't say how long QBs are holding the ball. QBs seem to be standing back there for an awfully long time judging by eye test. Just my opinion. I'd like to see a Stat on that though.
  14. If you can't run block with your down 5, running more TEs gives you more surface area(gaps) to pop runs. Maybe that's it? Who knows what they are seeing in practice.

Agreed on all accounts. I am the choir here. We are in year 3. Program trajectory is headed the right way but people here expect perfection. We are still a flawed team, but winning despite that.

I understand that. What I am saying to you is that a 5 star receiver isn't going to go play in a wishbone system despite NIL. Here are all the things kids are looking at. Program trajectory. System fit. NIL. How soon can they get on the field. All of those things are important. So when you add in that the coach is an asshole kids start looking at choices. As you know, some of the "kids trying to leave" shit is them posturing for more money. Some kids like Wiley, are truly looking for a better fit despite being taken care of as far as NIL goes. Tom Herman has systemic issues that would keep a lot of high quality player from playing for him.

But you DID get to see that. Saban, despite seeing on film that if you attack our center guard combos we struggle running the football, came out and ran what he always ran. He then tried to man up on our NFL receivers and got his secondary walked by. ALL GAME. Never made coverage adjustments. On offense he wouldn't cut Milroe loose. Even when the game got desperate.

You are misjudging my ties to the program and who/what I know. Seriously. We all appreciate what you do for the program. However, bags aren't everything. A fact aggy is fucking around and finding out. Program trajectory and fit are a big deal. Kids want a bag, yes. However, their ultimate goal is the NFL and so program fit is also important.

I get what you are saying but we olds need to wake up. Gone are the days when we could roll out of bed and beat TCU or Iowa State. Kids aren't willing to wait at big time programs anymore. They will leave and go somewhere else. So there is more parity in college football unless you are one of those teams at the very tippy top that has been stacking talent for eternity. Texas is starting to get back to that but there are still holes that end up affecting games. For example, Georgia doesn't have to panic grab receivers. Our most clutch receiver was a guy they let go of. That's how stacked they are. They shrugged their shoulders at him leaving.

He didn't recruit lights out and NIL is everywhere. You can get the same dollars at other big time programs so if you hate the coach just go to Ohio State.

People here see the recruiting rankings and don't understand that it means potential. A lot of these kids don't know shit and have just been getting by on pure athletic ability. We still have a ton of shortcomings and we tend to lose intensity once we get up on a team. 0-line- Our center and LG are weak in the run game and our RG is strong but busts some assignments here and there. We struggle with consistency and cannot just line up and run on a team when we want to. Receivers- We have one receiver that catches everything but loafs, and another receiver who is dynamic with the ball in his hands but gets pushed around by DBs and never wins a physical contest with a defender. Every game they take turns trying to see who can get a receiver killed by missing blocks. TEs- Our superstar TE struggles blocking. RBs- One RB is nails, another one is big and physical but tip-toes and doesn't run with good feet, another one is too lite, and the other one is fast but doesn't run with patience. D-line- Our starting tackles are monsters against the run, but as TCU showed if you wait til they sub out you can go with pace to keep them on the bench and run on the backups. Ends cannot get home with any kind of consistency. We have no natural pass rushers. LBs- One is slow when in conflict. The other one busts assignments on the regular. The young dude is fast and physical but doesn't know shit yet and is constantly flying all over the place but is wrong often. CBs- Watts is physical but slow. Brooks doesn't challenge receivers enough allowing QBs to throw perfectly on rhythm, and loses inside leverage constantly. Other guys are young. Barron is a stud but hurt. Safeties- Slow. Late. Bad angles. Only make plays when the call confuses the QB or a deflection or such. None have made a break on a ball that was thrown well. Over the course of a 60 min football game each one of these rears its ugly head. All of them showed up against TCU. They are who they are. Accept it.
