  1. I learned through my grandmother. Schools didn't mention shit. Back then old black folks held the community down. They made sure you knew where you came from.
  2. Not sure how old you are but drugs are trendy. There was a solid generation of well-to-do white kids who were spending their time on lines rather than smoking weed. Which is exactly why there was a 100 to 1 law at that time. If the government was making harsh laws for a particular drug best believe it was because mainstream white folks weren't going to be affected.
  3. Flattie, I am not going to be an asshole in hopes that you hear me. I have said this here before but I guess it needs repeating. I am the first generation in my family to live their entire life with equal rights by law. My daughter is 16. We haven't even gotten to our 3rd generation yet. My mom joined the police dept a few years out of high school. Then she went back to school and got her nursing degree. Then she literally spent the rest of her life not taking care of herself so that I could get out. Mom died at 64. Not everyone is willing to dive on the grenade to further future generations but she did that and here I am. My mom never owned a home and I own a home in one of the richest suburbs in Houston, before that Woodland Hills CA, before that a golf course cul-de-sac. Now I am not rich, but my daughter has never known struggle. Most blacks are somewhere between my mom and me. Now you mentioned slavery which is a mistake a lot of conservative whites always make when having a little civil discourse about the black struggle. After slavery you had a huge backlash about blacks being free as soon as you know who got in office. Then came decades of taking away any progress blacks made. Debt Peonage. Jim Crowe. Racial Covenants. Redlining. Whites were violent against blacks on the regular. Then came the 70's and being physically violent against blacks wasn't kosher. So whites started attacking blacks through law making like stop and frisk. The US prison population was about 300,00 in 1970 and almost 2 million 3 decades later. Reagan instituted the 100-1 law where 5 grams of crack got you the same sentence as 500 grams of powder. Crackheads with 3 little rocks in their pocket were going away for years instead of getting help under the guise of "distribution". Again, any progress the black community made was being wiped out with swaths of people being put away for a ridiculous amount of years for having an addiction. Then came the 94 crime bill, the 3 strikes and your out bill, and gang injunction. Under gang injunctions if you were caught on the street after curfew. Jail. If you were thought to be a gang member and you were talking to another suspected gang member. Jail. If you were believed to be wearing what law enforcement saw as gang colors, or had suspicious tattoos. Jail. So you see buddy, they have never left us alone. It's 2025 and The President of the United States of America is attacking Universities for teaching about African Americans and punishing anyone with a Diversity program. But yeah......slavery. PS. As soon as white people started smoking weed regularly they decriminalized it. They also started trying to get people help when the opioid epidemic hit White America. Had that been us they would've increased the sentences.
  4. Naw bro it was the tan suit.
  5. Walk around money. Lol. Been a minute since I heard that phrase.
  6. I always thought elevating other country's living conditions keeps them from flooding our doorstep. I also thought that treating diseases outside our borders helped to make sure they didn't end up here. Man I guess we are all dumb.
  7. I never understood the animosity between black folks and latinos. If you are a brown latino you are dealing with the same struggle as black folks, yet there is so much hatred between the two communities. My lawn guy is from Guatemala. Hard working dude just trying to make it. His truck has broken down in our neighborhood twice and I let him keep it here. I took him to the Guatemala Consulate and even sat in the car with his two kids while he went in with his wife. He then took me out to eat and even gave me a keychain that I still have on my keys. I throw him any work I can give him. He even built my fence after the last hurricane last year. I want to put a positive memory with a black face. That way when he is in his community and someone says something out of pocket about black people he will chime and talk about how he knows a guy that is nothing like those stereotypes. Our two communities need to band together, both immigrants black and brown, and people born here black and brown. It seems that latinos are constantly aspiring to be accepted by white people and need to understand what we already know. No matter how many oxford shirts and grey slacks you buy you will still be brown.
  8. Now there is a blast from the past. Damn!
  9. 1964
  10. I've been thinking about this. It's going to get really dangerous for Americans traveling abroad.
  11. Abroad? I am pretty sure we are about to start with our own people inside our borders.
  12. What I dislike the most is drive by racists. They pop in and say something factually incorrect and don't stay for their comeuppance. Looks like @Pancho and @Satchel already handled it.
  13. Is it? Also, blacks could never catch up to the atrocities whites committed against blacks in US history. But now you wanna clutch your pearls? Fuck off.
  14. Imagine constantly having to prove your worth. Everyday. Imagine every life accomplishment being taken away by someone asking if you were hired based on diversity. Imagine your company coming to you and asking if you want to represent them at a conference for black executive in DC. Now you also are wondering if that's why you were hired. Imagine always being passed over for the big promotion. Imagine never being able to express emotions at work for fear of the "angry black man" label. Imagine all the micro-aggressions, jokes, and well-meaning, but insulting compliments you have to navigate on a daily basis like "you are so articulate", or a neighbor walking by as you cut grass with your teenager and asking you how much you charge. Imagine people always having a surprised reaction when you tell them where you live. Imagine being followed for most of your life when you go into stores. Imagine always working or living in spaces where you don't see people like you. Imagine turning on the tv and seeing every level of your government being aggressive towards your people. Everyday. For half a century. Imagine always being terrified anytime you encounter law enforcement. Imagine walking down the street and people crossing the street or locking their doors. Imagine being afraid to go for a jog or walk in your own neighborhood because of what that might trigger. Imagine being ignored at car dealerships and mistreated at restaurants. I have to tip big BEFORE we eat at a restaurant and then always request the same person if we want even decent service. Imagine always being seen as a fetish. The amount of couples that have approached me is staggering. I know some of you are laughing but I am being honest. The grey slacks must make you approachable. Now imagine you now have kids and have to teach them how to navigate all that(except for that last part) all over again. It's exhausting.
  15. Welcome to what it feels like to be black.
  16. This is what I heard happened. This also tracks with what the dad on youtube said. If you read the police report one of the kids said that Melo was friends with one of the guys on the Memorial track team so could be how he was at the same party. It also explains why the situation turned violent so quickly. There is def more to this story than "dude nobody knew was under a tent and decided to stab some random guy".
  17. You are not convincing them of anything because they aren't watching anything besides dear leader and Fox. It's time to knock heads.
  18. Man, you guys need to lay off Eddie. He is a Nice Guy.
  19. There are a lot of motherfuckers who never took a civics class and have zero sense of economics. Dumb people just see someone "doing something". They aren't smart enough to come to their own conclusion of how those moves will affect them and theirs so they turn to their leaders for explanation. That's when their leadership flat out lies to them. I went to one of those oil change places where you stay in your car. There is a lady next to me in a car that was clearly less than a year old. I listened to this 19 year old kid sell her on a radiator flush, cabin filter, and every other service they had with simple scare tactics. None of it she needed, but they saw a mark and swooped in for the kill. My thought was that was MAGA sitting in that car. You are going to break down on the side of the road and Tyrone is going to rape you in your car. You are going to be forced to keep it because Texas. Then after you grow attached to your Texas rape baby, ICE is going to snatch him and deport him, because even though you are white, you have a Hispanic last name, and that baby is a little too brown. So make sure you flush your radiator so that doesn't happen. MAGA
  20. Most MAGATS I see are your first example. No money in the market to be worried about so to them Biden's economy was awful because the prices at Walmart were higher. They base their opinion about how the country is doing on these factors. Gas prices, Groceries, Brown people, and Gays. Everything has it's place and if any of those things get a little too uppidity they want them dealt with. These guys think Tyrone and Jose at the job are great but all the other Hispanics and Blacks out there are pieces of shit. They have a family member who fell on hard times and their government assistance is just what they needed to get them through the rough patch, but these other folks need to get off the government tit. They think cutting taxes on the rich frees up money to hire more people and raise wages. They've never heard of tax loopholes or stock buybacks and when you try to explain how they work their eyes glaze over. One of their sons is a little feminine and all they talk about is how he "has a ton of female friends".
  21. This right here is exactly why I will still be able to sell my house for top dollar even though all measurables say "you shouldn't buy right now because we are headed into a recession". The MAGA Media has a sundae with sprinkles for every seemingly negative situation. That is why talking to them hits a brick wall. They immediately just start to regurgitate all of the MAGA approved talking points regardless of any logical conclusion to the contrary. Never seen anything like it. We will be well into 2026 before they even remotely start to understand they were duped.
  22. Samesies. Pre-purchase looked at the most updated flood maps in case they decided to upgrade to them post Harvey. Still did not matter. Insurance went up.
